Chapter 17 Arnav to win back his wife!
Nani made sure to keep Khushi busy and downstairs... Arnav was working from home and was in living room talking to Aman... Khushi decided finish her daily chores and stay away from Arnav in the kitchen! His mood looked normal to her but she didn't want to take any chances...
By sharp 11.00 am, designer Neena arrived at RM with her crew. Since she was already briefed by Arnav about the kitchen renovation, she got all the related catalogs, latest appliances details and equipment a state of the art kitchen would need.
"Khushi, can you show Neena our kitchen? I will join you in a minute Arnav fired rapid instructions to Aman on phone and joined Khushi in the kitchen... Nani decided to stay back at the dining table and watch her grandson trying to woo his wife...
"Arnavji, what is going on? Khushi whispered in his ears trying to understand the situation...
"Khushi you will need ultra-modern kitchen to practice your cooking skills, isn't it? Arnav asked her casually.
"Neena will help you with the renovation of our kitchen... Arnav looked at Neena.
"Neena, everything has to be Khushi's choice. Absolutely no excuses. And the kitchen needs to be ready in 8 days sharp... Not even an extra hour... Are you clear on the requirements? Arnav asked in his usual ASR tone...
"Yes sir, we will deliver in 8 days. I will use extra man power and resources. I will order the appliances today only after Khushi madam selects them... Neena did not want to let go the opportunity to renovate Raizada kitchen...
"Great then, you both can start. I am right here... Arnav took a seat on kitchen counter...
Khushi felt overwhelmed with sudden changes in Arnav and did not know how to handle his mood swings...
"The Laad Governor is sure bipolar... He has been so mad at me all these days and now suddenly asking my opinion as if it matters the most... That too for whole kitchen renovation! Khushi was confused...
Neena started showing Khushi kitchen designs... But it is a big decision for her to take and she decided to call Nani...
"Come on Khushi, Nani is not aware of these latest designs and appliances... Who is the in charge of kitchen here? It's you, right? Arnav asked smirking and she did not know what to do...
"Ok, let me help you... He came and stood next to her...
"Close your eyes and think what your dream kitchen is? Arnav asked closing her eyes...
"Are you sure about renovating kitchen with my choices? Khushi was so hesitant to even express herself...
"Yeah Khushi, I mean it... Ok now, think you and your Babuji are discussing about your dream kitchen where you will cook all your favorite dishes with your Babuji's guidance... Arnav was sure she will respond when it's her Babuji involved...
"A big C shaped kitchen cabinets with a huge island in the middle... Sparking quartz counter tops with modern subway tiled back splash... A huge 8 top gas cook top or range on the island with frying pot in built... Sink exactly behind the stove with a big window looking at the backyard... Double door automatic wi-fi enabled Samsung freeze and dual ovens... A wine cooler, two latest mixers, a dishwasher and a food processor... Additional power points for appliances Khushi spoke in one go...
"There you go... See it was so easy... Arnav encouraged her... He is surprised how clear she is about her dream kitchen!
"Now what are the colors you like? Arnav asked her next...
"Stainless steel, clean lines modern finish appliances... red and nature colors mostly earth tones I like... Khushi spoke...
"I think I got a fair idea... Thanks ASR for helping out... Give me couple of hours and I will send out few choices of designs for you to finalize by today... And now let's select the appliances so I can order them... Neena noted down everything.
Khushi and Arnav together selected all the appliances... Neena left after taking wall to wall measurements asking them both to visit her office tomorrow for choice of tiles, cabinets and counter tops...
"Arnavji, why are you doing this? Khushi asked him not sure...
"Khushi, you will need to have all the logistics ready for you to have any chance to compete with great chefs at Master Chef. I know you did fantastic against Rakesh but still you have long way to go. So it obviously starts from the kitchen, isn't it? Arnav asked her...
"So are you allowing me to participate in Master Chef? You won't change your mind later right and break my heart again? She asked him curiously not believing her own ears...
"Who am I to stop you or decide for you? It's your dream and you have all the right to live your dreams fully... I am glad you fought for your dreams and I really appreciate that about you... He looked at her face to gauge her reaction...
"Thank you so much Arnavji... Can I inform Naniji and also call my Babuji to tell him? Khushi was happy like a small kid and she simply launched herself in his arms and hugged him tight...
"And thanks to you for putting me in place and making me realize my mistakes... From now onwards, I will support all your dreams... Arnav accepted.
But she never heard his last sentence that he will support her always... She ran to call her Babuji and her mood switched to ecstatic while talking to her Babuji animatedly, then when she was discussing things with Nani... She was literally hyper unable to sit at one place... How did he miss her antics before, she looks so vivacious! Arnav could help but kept staring at her nonstop...
"Khushi, if you can get ready, we have to go out urgently... Arnav informed her...
"But I have to prepare lunch now... Khushi looked at the clock...
"HP has already prepared lunch for Nani and we are eating out... He declared and asked her to get ready quickly in 10 minutes...
"What, lunch date now? My husband has sure lost his mind and making me crazy... Khushi stared at him and ran to get ready when she realized he was serious about going out...
"Arnavji, I hate surprises... Please tell me where are we going? Are you dropping me to my parents' house? Khushi asked nervous and wanted to be prepared...
"No way, don't push your luck... It's a surprise and you will know soon and call me Arnav... He did valet parking and entered into Oberoi restaurant...
"What are we doing here at Oberoi Restaurant? Khushi asked him curiously...
"We are on a Lunch Date, Khushi and you will know the reason as well... Arnav replied calmly. Their table was booked and Chef Alan received them at the table...
"Khushi, this is master chef Alan and Alan, this is Khushi... As I discussed with you over phone, she wants to become a master chef, she is participating on the TV show and your guidance would really help... I must mention she is an extra ordinary cook with tremendous knowledge of flavors and spices... She is natural... But I will let you judge that... And she can learn from your presentation skills... Alan was award winning Chef at presenting his dishes...
Khushi did not know what to say... He openly praised her cooking skills and got her help from Chef Alan... The mighty Chef Alan... Just wow...
"Thank you ASR. First let me know what would you like to eat for lunch? Indian, continental, veg or non-veg? Alan requested lunch order...
"Oh yeah, I would go with my favorite Chicken Marsala with Pasta... And Khushi what about you? Arnav asked her...
"I would like to have spicy mushrooms as appetizer, butter paneer and tadka daal with mix basket of Naan Arnav was surprised with her long list... Will she eat that much? He has no idea...
Surprising Arnav, Khushi indeed ate a lot...
"Khushi, till our home kitchen is ready you will work here with under Alan for next 2 weeks starting tomorrow... You can choose your hours but this will really help you, trust me... Arnav informed her.
"I can't believe my luck... Who doesn't know Chef Alan? I would love to start tomorrow... Thank you so much Arnav Khushi was on cloud 9 already...
She didn't know what made him change overnight but she instantly liked this Arnav who cares for her feelings, her ambitions and helping her to achieve them...
She did not know how long this might work but she accepted the changes whole heartedly without holding any grudges against him or their relationship! That's just how she is... Simple and Sorted!
She was still scared of his mood swings and will take some time!
Arnav realized how transparent and innocent she is to forget and look past all the nasty things he said and depressing days he put her through! She lived in the moment... It still mean she is yet to forgive him and he has to earn her apology... But he would never give a chance from now on to complain, he promised himself!
