Chapter 14 What goes around, comes around!

Her life was butchered by her mother's fairy tale stories about love, marriage that she grew up hearing for years as a child and his exact opposite behavior in the real life since they got married... Somewhere she always dreamt about a wonderful life partner, someone just like her father who will be her best friend with whom she can share everything, he will be her rock solid support always and help her dreams come true... And she will equally respect him, love him and be there for him... But Arnav did not leave any stone unturned to shatter her dreams...

She walked out, sat on the lounge on pool side looking at the stars! She has said what she needed to say... She could tolerate hoping against the hope until it was about her but then being a Master Chef was her dream she weaved with her father and she couldn't just let it go, could she? He might just throw her out of his life after this bickering, but it didn't matter anymore... She knew he did not like anything about her, he complained about everything she did and her choices...

Her heart accepted there is no hope for them...

She did not see this coming or was rather in denial due to her traditional upbringing! And she knew this will be harsh on her parents so she tried... But maybe it is never meant to be...

Arnav sat down on the bed defeated after she poured her heart out... She has no respect for him and he very well deserved it... She didn't say it out loud but he could feel she really hated him... Any why not, he did everything possible to ruin their relationship...

Before he could think and react, she came back in as if she remembered something...

"I have one request though..." She whispered politely standing at the door... He could see her face red after crying...

"What is it, Khushi?" He tried to be polite... He hated to be the reason of her pain and distress...

"First, promise me you won't be mad at me?" Khushi requested...

"OK, I promise. Now tell me..." Arnav asked her...

"Can you give NK a job in your AR Designs office? He gets bored at home and wants to work... Plus he likes some girl called La in your office... He did not tell me to ask you but I know he really likes La and I wanted to help him as a friend. So please don't be mad at him. I do not want to forget my friend's happiness... Can you please?" She requested again...

"Her own life is a big mess but she didn't forget her friend NK and still she wanted to help him? What kind of a selfless person she is?" And he also realized it means there is nothing going on between Khushi and NK... He felt so much relieved...

"Oh so you don't have time for her to ask his she is alive or dead but then you are jealous and doubting her for talking to others", his heart chided him!

"Oh, NK likes La? How the hell did I miss that?" Arnav whispered to himself trying to remember things from the past... But she did hear him...

"Who is La?" Khushi asked curiously...

"It's Lavanya... La is her nickname... She is head of design department in my office... I think you met her once when you came to my office... Last year NK worked in my office as a Fashion photographer on a six months project and worked closely with Lavanya in the same group... They became very close friends and would always hang together... They partied hard every weekend and almost inseparable but I did not realize NK too liked her..." Arnav explained.

"Oh is Lavanya, La? I did not know that... Never mind then..." She replied dejectedly lost in her own thoughts... She has always heard about stories between Arnav and Lavanya from the media, his pics on Page 3 with Lavanya hovering all over him during their last party and media calling her his girlfriend means only one thing Her friend was as unlucky as her... His love life and relationship was also doomed even before it started just like hers...

"What do you mean by never mind? I will give NK a job and will help him and La both... I have seen how depressed La was last year after NK left... La even got very emotional recently when I happen to mention and talk about NK and she got drunk remembering her time with... I had hard time controlling her and dropped her home later that night... She was continuously blabbering about how much fun NK and she were together... Remember that Page 3 news last month? La really was upset that day... NK, the fool always had commitment phobia and ran away..." He commented.

"Oh" She did not say anything further... She suddenly felt better with the realization that Arnav is ready to offer a job to NK... And it also meant Lavanya may not be Arnavji's girlfriend... Media simply made it up, maybe seeing him help Lavanya... Or Lavanya likes NK and Arnavji likes Lavanya, she did not know...

"Why, what did you think?" Arnav asked Khushi straight...

"Nothing..." Khushi did not want to really reveal her negative feelings formed because of gossips...

"Come on Khushi, you do know how to speak your mind... isn't it? Then what happened now?" He raised his eye brow...

"Nothing, I just thought..." She was very hesitant...

"Come on Khushi, spit it out..." Arnav demanded...

"No, I thought you both were together?" Khushi whispered...

"Together? With who and how? What do you mean?" He asked not sure what she implied but he needed to know...

"Together as in a relationship or something like that... Though I am not too sure but the news and media always link you with Lavanya..." She left her sentence there in the middle...

"Are you out of your mind? You do really think so low of me, isn't it? That I can be in a relationship with another woman while married to you...? Wow, just wow... Oh, just one picture in the newspaper is good enough for you to give me a bad character certificate? For the first and last time, I am making myself very clear, I do not love anyone else nor am I in any illegitimate relationship... I do not believe in that. I hate it in fact... How dare you Khushi think like that about me?" Arnav shook her holding her arms tightly and ended up hurting her in his rage...

"No, no maybe it was my misunderstanding... I am so sorry... I did not mean to accuse you and hurt you like that... Your reluctance to accept our marriage or me, then those news and gossips, you always spending all the time at work and in parties with her, even my college friends always say you both look so good together... Then I lost my mind and hopes... It's my fault... I am so sorry... I didn't mean to blame you like that..." She tried to explain but the damage was already done...

"Leave me alone..." He shouted at her...

She was scared of him by now... She has never faced his anger alone, last time Nani was there to console her... She is shivering by now... No one else ever got angry at her... She felt so bad to accuse him of something without knowing the truth...

"But Arnavji..." She tried to talk, almost on the verge to cry again...

"I said leave me alone..." He screamed again by shaking her from her shoulders...

Khushi stepped back and ran towards the guest room! She did not want to make him angrier than he already was... Nor she would want to involve Naniji or NK when they were already sleeping...

Arnav's eyes were red and a lone tear escaped from his eyes...

"All these years I stayed away from the women because they cheated on me and today I heard otherwise... How can I forget how much my Ma suffered? Still I allowed us to doubt on each other? I let things so much out of hand that my wife thought I was cheating on her... How ironic?" He thought...
