Chapter 3 Continued -
"Arnav, your only choice is talk to Khushi one more time... Meet her somewhere outside..." Aman suggested knowing his friend's restlessness.
"But I still don't see what the problem with you is? You have never really liked any other girl before nor do you have a girlfriend. You hardly had few relations and all were fake with those girls being after your money or go up in the Fashion world! But it is different with Khushi... You yourself clearly said Khushi is gorgeous, honest, blunt person who does not seem to be after your money... So what's the harm in marrying her?" Aman asked ASR curiously...
"Shut up Aman, I just met her once... Yes, her looks I agree, she is very pretty but not like I can marry her on that basis... Oh god, why Nani has to be so adamant about my marriage and she even managed to convince her parents... And what's wrong with you, you haven't even seen Khushi and suggesting me to marry her?" ASR's anger was raising...
"I am sure the girl who can refuse ASR on his face has to be unique... She might just turn out to be perfect partner for you if you convince her to marry you... Poor ASR... Who knows, she might still reject you... Ha ha..." Aman teased ASR not missing out on his rare opportunity and ran out of the cabin before Arnav could throw something or get angrier than he already was...
"Why this Khushi has to be so adamant too? She has guts to say NO to ASR but cannot say NO to her parents and Nani and save my day?" Arnav was so mad at Khushi...
"Nani, can you please give me Khushi's cell number?" Arnav asked Nani hesitantly...
"What's the hurry to meet her Arnav? You are getting married to her in few weeks... Then... Oh let me guess, you want to meet her, take her on a date and get to know her... Nice going Arnav..." Nani teased him and he was starting to get annoyed... At last he got Khushi's cell number and called her...
"Hello is it Khushi? This is ASR..." Arnav said hello in a serious tone...
"Who is ASR, do I know you? And how do you know me?" Khushi asked curiously not knowing who could be on the line...
"Very funny, this is Arnav Singh Raizada. Your would be husband to be precise..." Arnav informed her in sarcastic tone. Now she does not want to recognize me, for some reason it annoyed him like crazy... Whole world knows me as ASR and this girl has to act so nave...
"Oh hi..." Khushi was apologetic... How I would know he is ASR... He has such a beautiful name, Arnav then why ASR, she thought...
"Hello Khushi, can you meet for a coffee today?" Arnav asked trying to be polite...
"Sorry, I don't drink coffee in the evening..." Khushi replied instantly...
"What the? Then you can drink tea or don't drink anything... I need to talk to you urgently" Arnav could not hide his irritation. Now she refuses to have a coffee with him...
"I will have to ask my parents... Can you hold on?" With that she ran to kitchen to talk to her Amma.
"Amma said I can go with you. But you will have to pick me up and drop off." Khushi came back after long 15 minutes and tested his patience thoroughly...
"Did your Amma asked me to pick you up and drop off?" He was surprised. Not that he has ill manners but was curious.
"Not really. I added that... Amma gets worried if I am out or coming late in the evening..."She giggled as if she was caught.
"What the? Anyways see you at 6 pm. I will pick you and drop off" Arnav was taken aback with her blunt behavior.
Khushi was not sure whether it was a date or not. He did not mention it or say anything about date but just coffee...
Anyways knowing they both were not interested in marriage, she decided to keep her expectations low and not to overdress...
Arnav arrived dot 6 pm and was pleasantly surprised to see Khushi in jeans and a white sleeveless top and looked as usual gorgeous... He was trying to guess the color of her eyes, are they hazel or caramel shade... Beautiful eyes she has got, his heart noted...
Her parents looked happy to send her out with him... He took her to his favorite place, Taj Caf. Soon the tea and coffee was served.
"How much they charge for hot water and a tea bag and then I have to make the tea myself... I am sure they don't know how to make coffee at all" Khushi murmured but Arnav heard it.
"If your important talks about tea and coffee are done, can we talk?" His tone was rude and Khushi suddenly felt uncomfortable and sat straight.
"Think about it Khushi again. Please go and tell your parents that you don't want this marriage..." Arnav told her firmly...
She was shocked... He is still stuck and not marrying to her... But does not want to convey to his Nani?
"Look who is forcing and pressurizing others? Why can't you just do it yourself? In fact it would be help me too. You are high class and marriage breaking might be normal thing in your society... But not for us where we live in middle class society. We value marriage and its vows greatly and families are looked upon as a bad family if a marriage breaks. Not that I would care but I definitely care about my parents to not them go through such torture..." Khushi was equally firm.
"How does anyone else or the society matter when we both don't want to get married?" Arnav was angry.
"We both don't want to get married but we did not convey it to our family and in fact said yes. Do you realize the invitation cards have already reached relatives and friends? So it would matter big time to my parents. And if it does not matter, why don't you go and talk to Nani?" Khushi countered.
"You know I can't" Arnav felt defeated.
"Why not?" Khushi asked curiously... She felt like asking him why so adamant he was not marrying her but she kept quiet...
"What do you mean? Unfortunately I had given her word that I will marry the girl she chooses when she was sick and in hospital..." Arnav replied.
"Should we go and talk to them together? I mean you Nani and my parents?" She offered him...
"No, it's ok..." Arnav whispered...
Khushi was confused what was really on his mind... Doe she love someone else that he is so strongly refusing to marry her...
"Arnav, please let me know what you decide... Again I will handle my parents if you decide not to marry, I can assure you that... And all I can promise you is if we get married, I will fulfil my promises towards the marriage. Given a chance, I really would have waited for couple of years for marriage because I wanted to work for a little while after marriage and get some exposure to the world! But if my parents wants me to marry, I am ok with it too. I am doing this for them and to keep them happy. I will live up to their expectations" Khushi replied honestly.
Arnav knew if he was marrying her for Nani, so was she for her parents. They both did not have any easy escape. Then marriage it is!
"Khushi, I just do not want you to regret it later..." Arnav warned her after being left with no choice.
"No one has seen tomorrow. Let me hope for the best and prepare for the worst..." Khushi told herself in her mind... Already she was losing hopes and she wished he just behaves well with her...
When they walked out of the restaurant, a big group of young boys was walking in... Couple of them looked at Khushi and talked to each other! It looked as if they were watching her and she felt uncomfortable...
Suddenly out of nowhere Arnav held her hand, pulled her closer to him and walked out of the restaurant...
They both could feel each other's heartbeats raising haywire with such a close proximity... Arnav himself could not understand why he felt so protective and concerned for her when he really did not care... Khushi was also baffled with his behavior!
