Hope you had a great long weekend.
Today I will talk about an advice I hope most people learn because it's a very useful advice, but no one ever does.
It's called "Minding one's own business".
Unfortunately, people who want to attain "Mahaan" status, they don't follow it because according to them, the only way to be Mahaan is to jump into someone else's life and whether they want you to or not, interfere in them.
But actually for most self-sufficient people (like yours truly) who can handle their own business and fix their own problems, that particular habit doesn't gel well with. In fact, for people like those (or me), would think you are more "Mahaan" if you respectfully step back and let them deal with their own damn problem. Thanks. But no thanks.
However, in our daily soap, butting in someone else's life is the new fast track step to be "Mahaan". Because if you can't handle someone else's life (never mind that your own life is a mess), then how would someone else handle your life and so on and so forth?
No wonder everyone's life is so messed up in the show. Because everyone wants to live someone else's life and handle someone else's problem. No exception.
So today's new Mahaan duo - Dev Bhaiya and Sonakshi Didi. Both wants to handle each other's problem and mould each other's life as per their specifications. Because of course, more than the person concerned, the other knows better.
EPISODE: The episode starts with Sonakshi tells Khatri to stop and asks who is he.
Khatri: Leave those question alone. But you tell me what you are doing in Ishwari Dixit's home?
Sonakshi responds in Dabang style: The question isn't what I am doing there. The question is what you were doing there?
Khatri: These kind of questions only two kind of people asks - one the owner of the house or the guard at the door. You can't be the owner, and you don't look like the guard at the door. Who are you?
Me *raises hands slowly*: Hello, uncle. Yoo hoo... That would be the unlucky penny of the Dixits. They keep throwing it into the garbage bin and she keeps rolling back in their feet.
Sona: I am daughter-in-law of the house.
Khatri: So you are her, who seven years ago booked her ticket and left this house. I heard before that unlucky penny sometimes turn up again, but unlucky bride turns up again, that I am seeing for the first time and hearing for the first time too.
Me: See? Told you. Khud ki izzat apne paas hoti hain. Aaj Khatri ne bhi aap ko aap ki aukat dikha di.
Sona: But you?
Khatri: I know everything about this family from A to Z.

Sona again tries to kickstart her not-so-intelligent dimaag: One minute. You are that guy. That night when I came out and...
FLASHBACK: This was the night when Jatin was thought to be The Flash to be inside and outside at the same time. Turns out that Bhaiya is only human.
Sonakshi comes running out and sees Khatri leaving. Jatin asks why are you running. Sonakshi tells him about a mysterious man.
Sona: What do you want?
Khatri: What I want, Bahuji, I will take. And one more thing, you stay out of it for your own health.
Sona: If I don't stay out of it?
Khatri: Then you will get crushed like wheatgerm gets crushed with wheat. I have no enmity with you. I just came to greet your mother-in-law Ishwari. But couldn't see her. May be went somewhere away. When she comes back, then let her know that "someone" came to see her.
Sona: If you are seen around this house, I will complaint to the police. Then I will see how you don't open your mouth.
Khatri: You will call Police? Call them. Just remember, if you call the police, then more than me, Ishwari will get bad name.
Sonakshi is shocked.
Me: Sonakshi didi, ho gayee jasoosi? Ab jao aur jitna raita phaila chuke ho, woh andar jaake ugal do. Woh kya hain naa, jinka problem, unhi ko solve karna chahiye. Kyunki kisi aur ko problem ki saari details pata nehin hota naa.
Doosro ki help karo, lekin jab woh help maange tab. Bin maange taang dogi to aakhir mein jo insults ka tamacha padega, woh aap hi ki kartoot ka result hoga.
Saurabh is looking for perfume. He can't find it so he calls Sonakshi.
Sonakshi tells him where is the perfume.
Saurabh hears her sad voice and asks: Is everything all right, Sona?
Sona: No, everything is all right.
Saurabh catches her lies. He insists her to tell the truth.
Sona tells him that she saw a man sneaking glances into this house. She caught him and confronted him. But he said that he wants to meet Ishwari. He even threatened her to stay out of it.
Saurabh: What? Sona, did you tell Dev babu or his mother?
Me: Wow... Saurabh, what an intelligent and most obvious solution. Now why that didn't register in Sonakshi's spy brain?
Sona: No, dada. I can't tell anything now and auntyji is not here. So I am thinking that first I find out what's going on what's the truth and then tell them.
Me: Tch tch... That's where you are making the mistakes, Sona. You are thinking. Why are you forcing your brain to do something it is not equipped to do? Let me approach another angle. Have you thought that since you are no longer part of this family, there might be somethings they won't want you to know or poke your nose into? I don't know, something that's called privacy?
And didn't you tell Dev to stay out of your family matters a few days ago? Now why don't you prove to him how to stay out of other's family matters by doing it yourself? Tell him the truth and let him take care of his problem. You don't need to be nosy Parker, now do you?
Saurabh is still talking sense to senseless Sona: Sona, you don't need to interfere in their matter. That's their life and they can handle their problems.
Sona: Daada, Dev's family is my fam... (She stops)...
Saurabh: Sona...
Sona: Your concern is right. Don't worry, I will take care of myself. You just focus on your trip...
Saurabh: But Sona, listen to me...
But Sona cuts the call.
Me: Rehne do, Daada. Aapki behen is kutte ki tarha hain jisko lakh laath maarne ke baad bhi dum hilate hue wapas laath khane aa jaati hain.
I know, you and your father are frustrated with her. But at some point of time, you just need to let them hang themselves. Sorry. You can't save people who keep making the same mistakes over and over and take absolutely no lesson from them.
And Sonakshi didi, awww... How cute. I didn't know you still think Radha and Vicky your own family. How adorable. I am sure they also feel the same about you. See how they treat you like the doormat by the Dixit house and wipe their feet on your dignity. Cho chweet.
This time when Ishwari strips down your dignity, I am going to cheer for her. Because you deserve it.

Sonakshi, hello. Ghar mein naa Ishwari ka jigar ka tukda baitha hain. Ussi ke saamne ugal do. I can bet you, Maa beta ek hi dimaag share karte hain. To agar isko pata chalega, to yeh khud hi handle kar lega. Lekin kya karen, aapko to chappal khane ki aadat hain.
Jatin: Ok, let that go. Just tell me when I can meet Soha.
Sona: She is also missing you. But you know Dev...

Sona: She gets bored sitting alone.

They were walking through the living room where Bhaiya in a ponytail sitting on the couch.
Dev: Best friends... How many times will you prove that you are best friends? Actually, you are best friends because neither of you listen to me.
Sonakshi, may be you don't remember it, but I remember everything. How your dad compelled my mother to go from your home. So we made some rules. You remember, right?
Me: Excuse me. We? We made some rules? If I recall correctly and do correct me if I am wrong, it was solely you, Bhaiya who announced the rule after your mother broke them.
Then you proceeded to break them some more in different loopholes. Which I will point out shortly. But let's here your lame excuses first.

Dev: Yes, Jatin is different. He is even different than my mother and Suhana's Daadi. I understand.
Me: Loophole no. 1 > Golu is child. So he doesn't count. You let Golu stay.
Loophole no. 2 > Elena who is legally your sister-in-law doesn't count because she is your friend. You let her come in as well using that excuse.
So you tell me, Bhaiya. Is Golu and Elena are more important than *gasp* your mother Goddess?
Jatin tries to pacify Dev: You are mistaken...
Dev shuts his up: Did I talk to you? I am not talking to you. I made this rule and so I will decide when to bend them.
Me: Precisely, my point. You see Sonakshi, you are the idiot who agreed to follow someone else's rules. Because then they can play with them as per their convenience. But what I am trying to understand is why are you so stupid enough to follow someone else's rules in your house and also in their house? That's why you are always the loser.
Dev: Jatin, you can go upstairs only for today and only for Suhana. Because she gets bored being alone. But after today, don't even think about stepping foot in this house again. You have had chicken pox, yes? Arre, what am I asking? Sonakshi must have confirmed it already. After all, you are her best friend. Ok. You can go.

Sonakshi was about to enter Soha's room when she decides to invade Ishwari's privacy by going through her things.
What a respectable thing to do for one's supposed family member. After all, who doesn't go through someone else's stuff without their permission behind their back?
So she goes through Ishwari's wardrobe.
Me: Sonakshi, let me ask you something. You really think that Ishwari will keep a diary or picture book of Khatri sitting in an unlocked wardrobe which has potential to defame her where anyone can come and find it? And you want to be a detective? You know what? Do yourself a favour and spend some of your money to hire a real detective with actual skills. I know you just earn money and never spend it, but this time do.
Because I can't watch you making constant fool of yourself. The minimum deduction skill is also missing in you. I doubt you can find any clue even if it comes in front of you and do belly dance.
Dev is walking when he sees Golu sitting down.
Dev: You are also angry with me? If you are also angry with me, what will I do?
Golu: I don't know. Ask Suhana.
Dev: Golu, I could not play with you because Suhana is sick. Otherwise, I'd have played with you. You know what else I planned? That three of us will play together and have fun.

Me: Arre Bhaiya. Kya improvement che. Aap yahan improved version ban rahe ho, aur udhar behena regress ho rahee hain. Aap dono ek time pe ek hi direction pe kyun nehin chalte?
Sonakshi is riffling through Ishwari's side tables.
(Me: Bhai wah, ex-bahu ho to aisi)
Jatin comes out of Soha's room and calls her name.
Radha comes there and asks her who is he.
Jatin very politely says: Aunty namaste. I am Jatin.
Radha sarcastically says: Of course. You couldn't even stay a few days away from Sona?
Jatin: Excuse me. I came here to meet Soha.
Vicky comes there: Mummy, he must have come to meet Soha. They must have thought that they can continue their Raas Leela here as well.
Me: Wow, Sona. Your family is so loving to your best friend. Anyone would proudly adopt such a family. *sniff* I am getting emotional.
Vicky: What happened? Your throat got dry?
Jatin (with extreme calm voice): I see your muscles. I think you go to gym a lot. But strength doesn't come from going to gym. Real strength comes from elsewhere which I have a lot. Radha is shocked.
Vicky: You don't know who you are talking to.
Jatin: I know. I heard you are a very useless kind of person. That's why you should not open your mouth too much. (Pats his arm) Kids should behave politely with adults.
Vicky shrugs his hands off.
Jatin smiles at Radha: Namaste, Aunty.
Me *standing ovation*: OMG... Could I adore this guy any more? Nope. I don't think so. Bhaiya, you are a frigging amazeballs. There is absolutely no one who can match you in class, dignity and attitude including extreme politeness and inner strength. No wonder you are not interested in Sonakshi. You deserve better.
Radha keeps fuming: He dared to come to our house and insult my red?
Vicky: Let it go, Mummy. I will see to him.
Me: Yadi yadi yada... These threats work on your Bhaiya. Because he is those blind people who got perfectly functioning eyes. But Jatin is a different level of man. The one who can unman you in seconds. So just keep your empty threats to yourself.
Sonakshi is still going through Ishwari's stuff when Radha catches her.
Sonakshi stammers: What are you doing here?
Radha: Really? What I am doing here? This is my Jiji's room. I can enter anytime here. What are you doing here without permission?
Sona stammers: I wanted to get Dev's childhood pictures.
Radha: Oh, are you doing less drama with Dev that you will have to do more drama of love with him using his pictures? People say right. Black cat kills her prey slowly.
Sona is still stammering: Soha wanted to see Dev's pictures. This one I can show naa?
Radha: Yes. You can use Soha as an excuse and do anything here. And from now on, if you enter this room without permission, I won't spare you. Get out.
Me: I hate to say this but Radha was absolutely right today. Today, even Radha, who herself has no honour nor dignity stripped down Sona's honour and dignity because Sonakshi let her. She was the one who didn't keep her dignity so of course, anyone can wipe their feet on it. I am honestly losing any desire to tolerate her on screen anymore.
Sonakshi, I believe in one policy to judge my action. What I am ashamed to do in front of anyone, I don't do behind people's back either. Because that means I am doing something wrong. Will you be able to do the same in front of your parents, Dev, Jatin and keep your head high? Just look what level you have sunk into. Shame.
Sona is about to leave, but Radha stops her.
Radha: Your pet bird came to our house and spoke too much. He insulted my red. How did you call him? Why? You forgot the rules? Soha's daadi can't go to your house to meet Soha. But any Tom, Dick and Harry can come in our house.

Sonakshi is walking in the living room when Elena comes to her.
Elena: Sona, I want to talk to you.
Sona: Yes.
Elena sits down with Sona.
Elena: That day when you and Dev bhai wasn't here, Meso had come here.

Elena: I know. You may be came here for Soha, but you came here. I just thought I should tell you that more than Vicky's mother, Buaji has supported me. She has loved me a lot. She also loves Golu a lot.
Me: Are you serious? First of all, if she has loved Golu so much, then why she never once sang a single lullaby to him? Where was her love when Golu used to roam around for someone to put the tie on him or feed him something? Where was she when she kept calling Dev who just left for Bijoy's house, yet didn't spend a second with Golu? So please, at least don't deceive yourself that she loves you. The only reason you haven't faced what Sonakshi has faced is because Dev isn't in love with you nor he gives you more attention than her.
Elena continues her lies: Just think. Soha is her granddaughter what won't she do for her. My motive is only that...
Vicky interrupts: Wow. Both sisters are sitting here bad-mouthing this family.
Elena: Vicky, please go from here.
Vicky: Why should I go? You are planning to hurt my family and you are telling me to go.
Sona: We don't have time to waste making stupid plan against your family.
Vicky: That I can see. You made better plans that's why you came back in this house. Well done, Sona... Bhabhi.
Vicky walks away.
Me: Oh Sona, now I understand why you want Dev's family. Your family is too loving and caring. They don't humiliate and insult you like Dev's does. And just like Asha complained that she wanted a family who insulted and humiliated her to get her creative juices flowing, you probably prefer the same as well to get your victim juices flowing.

At Bose house, Saurabh got Ronita a gift. It's a gown.
Ronita is happy. But she says: But I can't wear this.
Saurabh asks why? What's the problem?
Ronita: Because of me. These kind of dress girls like me watch on the shop window. But you know my size. If I wear this, I will look stupid. People will laugh.
Saurabh: You will look beautiful in this dress and whoever laughs at you will be the biggest stupid in the world.
Ronita: You don't need to say this to console me. I won't be able to wear this dress. I am sorry Saurabh that I could not wear your gift. Thank you Saurabh.
Ronita goes away. Saurabh is sad.
Me: Awww... Ronita and Saurabh are so cute. I love their openness and honest communication. They didn't have love marriage nor they were friends before. But they made friendship their base which gave them the comfort level to discuss any feelings or insecurity openly. After all, you can deal with problems when you know that they exist.
At Dixit house, Sonakshi is sitting in the stairs and trying to connect Khatri to Dixit family. She decides to ask Dev about it.
Me: Priorities, you know. After all who cares that Soha is sick and in her room alone. As long as Sonakshi can meddle in Dixit's life, that's more important.
Anyways, Sona comes out of the room and Dev comes there: Finally, you got time for your daughter.
Sonakshi rolls her eyes.
Me: I agree, Bhaiya. Woh kya hain naa, aaj kal behena ne naya job liya hua hain. Ussi ki prep work mein busy hain.
Sonakshi: Do you want coffee? I was going to make for myself, do you want it?
Bhaiya is shocked: Coffee?
Sonakshi: Yes, coffee. It's made with cocoa bean (Me: Really? I thought coffee plants are small, like a bush or small tree. Cocoa tree is completely different). They break it and then make it into powder and then that's mixed with milk.
Dev: Shut up. I know what is coffee.
Sona: So do you want it?
Dev: You will drink coffee with me?
Sona: No one drinks coffee with you now? So sad. That's why I say, stop speaking rudely. Now tell me, do you want it?
Dev: Okay.
Sonakshi leaves.
Bhaiya is staring at her back as if God arrived from heaven and holding grapes in front of his face for him to take a bite. Not sure whether he should bite it first or pinch himself to confirm whether it's a dream.
Dev is sitting in the garden on Sona's swing.
Sona brings coffee to him and hands him the cup.

Sonakshi gets to the point: When is auntyji coming back?
Dev: Why? You want to drink coffee with her too? She has gone out of the house after so many years. She likes to do these things. People want to go on world tour, Europe tour. My mother likes to go to temple. She finds peace in there.
Me: In my opinion, two types of people visit temple often. One, who are so religious that the daily life holds no value for them. They just want to leave the society behind and get closer to God. And second, people with guilty conscience who doesn't want to leave anything and do so much wrong stuff in daily lives that they need constant cleanse of conscience.
I will let you decide which one of these is Ishwari Maata.
Sona: Really? I thought that she feels happy when she is with you.
Dev: Of course.
Sona: Right, being with you... I mean she has raised you with so much difficulty, no?
Dev: Maa faced all problems alone. She didn't let anything happen to us.
Sona: Oh, I mean she was alone woman. Didn't she have any problem? You know enemy types.
Dev: No, no enemy as such. But I remember that when she used to take me for night tuition, she used to take a knife with her. That knife could not even cut a tomato, but it was enough for protection.
Sona: But you never said it before.
