I agree that lots of my friends 'bought' seats in medical colleges, but they don't pass if they don't study hard for the difficult medical exams. Medical science is very difficult, you can buy a seat, but after that if you dont work hard - you don't get anywhere... one has to struggle more and more just to pass every year... and the struggle gets difficult with each passing year, and let's not forget the traumatic post-graduate national exams (DNB-CET).

Maybe she is unaware that doctor's kids or lawyer's kids in India have to go through an entrance exam like anyone else. Also they have to undergo intense training as well as internship. Even if someone manages to pay and get thru to college due to contacts they cannot pay and pass out and wouldnt be able to practice till they actually go thru rigorous training. Even after that they probably wouldnt find takers if they arent actually good. Its a level playing field except for probably the guidance their parents can give them.
