"Get in the back".
"What?" Hitesh turned to his elder brother Manish in surprise.
"You heard me, I said get in the back. We are picking up someone and they are gonna sit there"
Muttering and grumbling to himself about the idiosyncrasies of older brothers, Hitesh unbuckled his seat belt and moved to the back as ordered. The brothers had been on their way to a birthday party of a fellow cast member in Manish's show Thapki Pyaar Ki when Manish had received a mysterious phone call from someone. Apparently this someone's car would not start and they were asking for a lift. In spite of the fact that they were very near their original destination Manish had done an illegal u-turn to drive quite some distance to pick up this person. Now they were parked outside an exclusive block of flats waiting for the person to come out. Hitesh cast an eye at the impressive scene around him in awe then turned to his brother his curiosity piqued.
"Uh-h Bhai, this is a really exclusive neighbourhood. Who are we waiting for exactly?"
" You'll see soon enough." Hitesh's eyes followed Manish's to the front entrance where his brother's eyes had been riveted all the while. It had to be a girl and judging from how his brother was both nervous and excited it had to be someone really really special to him. At last the doorman opened the door to the foyer and Hitesh's jaw dropped to the floor as a young lady walked out.
"OMG, that's Jigyasa Singh."
"Yep"
" She's absolutely stunning'
"Yep"
" You lucky sod. You get to work with her every day."
"Again. .. yep". Manish opened his door and got out to walk to the other side and open the door to the front passenger side for Jigyasa like a true gentleman. Now Hitesh understood everything. He had wondered why Manish had blushed and evaded everyone's eyes when Dadi had asked him if he liked a girl on his last visit to Jaipur. Well well this was very interesting. He couldn't help but smile. His brother liked a girl.
Now Hitesh watched as Jigyasa gave a tiny little wave of acknowledgement and made her way towards them
"Jigyasa Singh meet my chote bhai Hitesh Goplani. Hitesh Goplani Jigyasa Singh."
"Hi" Jigyasa held out her hand to greet him but Hitesh just stared at her open mouthed.
" Are you just gonna catch flies with your open mouth or greet Zee?"
"Zee?" Hitesh's eyebrows rose in wonderment. They even had pet names for each other.
Hitesh closed his mouth and held out his hand
"Nice to meet you, Zee Bhabhi"
"Bhabhi? As in older brother's wife" Jigyasa inquired
Still mesmerised Hitesh nodded
"You are my brother's to be wife"
Hitesh noticed the face of thunder and the shake of the head his brother was giving him in the rearview mirror and quickly recovered the situation
"I mean you are my brother's to be wife on screen."
"Oh" Jigyasa chuckled softly
" That makes you my devar then. Is it alright if I call you Devarji then? "
"Oh yes Bhabhiji. Oh yes"
Hitesh grinned. On screen / offscreen didn't matter. He knew he'd met the one he wanted as his Bhabhi.
