The Morning Rant
The two were almost ready to leave for their work, Shravan putting on his hair primer while Sumo putting on her sindoor. Shravan chose that very moment to look at her as he absolutely loved the crimson which arose on her cheeks every single time she applied vermillion, even after 2 years, 5 months and 10 days of their married life or 890 days to be precise.
When she looked at him found him staring back at her with intimacy. She shook her head at him and a dreamy smile formed on her lips.
"Loose this habit of yours, it's creepy." She said smile evident in her voice.
"Good habits shouldn't be discontinued." He replied while taking out his coat from the closet.
"Do you mean staring at me pointlessly is a good habit of yours." She raised a brow.
"Just that wifey. "He smiled his goofy smile.
"Tumhaara kuch bhi nahin Ho sakta." Sumo bowed her head down to hide the switching of colors of her face. She related very much to the name Pushkar had started calling her, chameleon.
Just then Kamalji knocked their door and after wishing her greetings, he gave her a white envelope, a letter addressed to Shravan.
"Shravan, tumhaara letter." She announced.
"Padhdo Sumo. Yeh file bohot important hai." She could see he was very preoccupied with the file, so she obliged.
As she went through the letter a smile overtook her features and Shravan raised his brows and tilted his head a little upwards, with a questioning look.
"You are chosen to lead the meeting which is to be attended by all the lawyers of Delhi." She said inching towards the couch he was sitting on.
Shravan was seemingly unbothered at his achievement and had diverted his attention back to the document.
"I'm proud of you husband." She said ignoring his previous unaffected behaviour.
"Kitna proud hogi Sumo, it's the 4th year in the que." He shot up a smug look at her. Now that surprised her, rather disturbed her, how could he take it so lightly?
She stood right in front of him and crossed her hands at her chest. "Listen Shravan never do that, be proud of yourself but don't let pride come anywhere around you." She said with a frown which made him concentrate on her words and a serious expression settled on his face as he understood he was at fault. His approach to the matter was incorrect enough to be prooven wrong.
She kneeled down in front of him and took his palms in her hands.
"Because when pride comes into being, then comes failure." She forced a soft smile on her face. "And Shravan Malhotra kabhi nahi harta, haina?" She placed a kiss on his palm.
Shravan nodded in positive and made her sit on his lap. "You know Sumo that's why I love you, main jitna bhi over confident Ho lu, par tum hamesha rahogi mera kaan kheechkar mujhe sahi raaste par laane ke liye. Main jitna bhi uncha udh lu par jab girunga tum hogi mujhe sambhalne ke liye. " he was saying it right from his heart, he could count 20 incidents in this week when he had been over confident and she had used her foothold power on him. Though it was not his fault, extreme or sudden success brings one to the point when they think of themselves, incapable of being defeated. X
He nuzzed her neck but groaned aloud when she pulled away. "Sumoo. "He said annoyingly.
Sumo faced him with narrow eyes. "Is that the only reason you love me, you moron?"
"Well, I can write a novel of 379 pages, if I sit jotting every single reason but only if you find time to read it." He said stressing on '379', more like a tease. He went to his previous ministrations but with a higher intensity.
"You're gonna be a dead man, real soon." She responded his tease. "That was Poorna's book and I just had to read it." She stated as if a matter of fact.
"And for that you bunked work for a week, which you never even do for me." He pouted. "Totally unreasonable. I definitely need a better excuse." Now he made it look like she was the one at fault.
'God the lawyer of a husband he is!' Sumo sighed.
"Shravan we've had a huge round of arguments on this topic, dare you bring this topic again, I'm not living with you for a week." She warned him.
'Good argument Sumo' she mentally patted her back when she saw his face, lose its color .
"Ok sowiee!!" He said as he held his ears childishly.
"That's like my man by the way I would be the only publisher, editor and reader of any novel you write, get that straight." Sumo said trying to get out of his lap but his strong arms at her waist held her to her place and made a puppy face as if pleading her not to go.
"Shravan, look it's time for breakfast. Abhi nahi gaye to Pushkar will have another reason to tease me." She mirrored his face.
"Its so much fun when you turn into a living tomato." He loosened his hold on her and gave her enough time to escape but she sat rooted.
"It's better when you get embarrassed when dad asks you the reason and it's the 'Sumo took more time to get ready' rant every single time." She smirked. "He definitely needs to know the 'asliyat' of his beloved son, doesn't he?" Her smirk intensified looking his bombshell reaction. Of course she wouldn't tell Ramnath that his beloved 6 feet 4 inch beta had disrupted her showering sessions that too on daily basis but she had absolutely no right to be bewildered because she had been relishing his ministrations too.
"To ab chalne ka plan hai, ya ghusna hai phirse shower main?" Now it was Sumo's to tease and his turn to be embarrassed. Shravan Malhotra which red cheeks, just imagine. A sight to behold.
Teases and bickering never had a stoppage for these best friend turned lovers turned spouses. let it continue that way.
