I feel the triggering point was Mehek's anxiety towards his safety the night before wedding and probably he knows about bomb being planted by Mama at Mehek's house. He already knew that he will be drugged. We could see him worried when Mehek expresses her fear about him and her dream. May be he is doing all this for the safety of her and her family as he knows they are also being targeted.
