The way I saw Dev - Ishwari scene is this:
Yes. He asked about his mother.
Yes. He went to meet her.
Yes. He talked to her.
Yes. He was affectionate with her.

But there is a HUGE difference between this interaction and the ones we used to dread watching until last week. It is the absolute lack of devotion. We neither saw the Goddess nor the bhakt.

1. RR told him that his maa has turned her room into her prison. He didn't blink
2. He met her but no hyper anxiety about her welfare or health.
3. He talked to her but nothing she said reached him. Not even her talk about his childhood.
4. He gave a one-armed hug. Neither had his head in her lap nor touched her feet while leaving.

Even with the lack of anger and presence of affection, I felt the indifference. And that is what has hit Ishwari the most, I think.

Indifference is the strongest force in the universe. It makes everything it touches, meaningless. Love and hate don't stand a chance against it. - Joan D Vinge.

P.S: If he wants to prove his statement to Ishwari - Hume kya farak padta hain... he should be able to show the same level of indifference to his ex-wife too, at the awards function. And courtesy of the segments and precap, we know how well that's gonna go. 😆

In the firsto go, I was disturbed seeing Dev become so normal with Ishwari...
But soon I understood it was wrong on my part to expect a drastic, dramatic step by him for her. You can not talk to your mother for a day, a month, maybe a year..but not more than that.

I now get the subtle differences and I am loving it👏

Actually...not really Aazeen. I never did like leaps in a show, no matter how justified or classy they look. I rather prefer a tight short story with a proper ending.

I am watching it for time-pass. No energy investment and no time spent on thinking about characters and their thought processes. The difference in his attitude before and after had been glaringly obvious to me when I watched the episode so made a post.

Exactly. And if you think about it, hate or anger would still mean he cared. That she had the power to hurt him. But this careless indifference is worse for Ishwari to take. She can't say anything because he doesn't appear disturbed or angry. And all said and done she is his mom. He can't stay angry for years on end.

haha glad you too captured it 👏 Yes he did the same but with a difference !

Ishu wants a vulnerable human to manipulate but this Dev has turned to emotionless robot and why would anything Ishu say will affect him now?

Remember Ishu used to blabber "Mudjse chupaya, Dev ne mudjse chupaya, mera beta mudjse jhoot bola" 🤔... Now Dev is fulfilling that complaint, he will inform everything but the difference is he won't seek your permission or approval. (Me: Ab khush hojao Ishwari..You got what you want 😈 )😆

When Dev meets Sona, farak padega dammit..usko farak padega 😆 (Where is my popcorn packet now😡😆)

@suvika...Bang on Suvi...you nailed it...I am happy that out there someone like me could feel the indifference portrayed effectively...alas it all goes into deaf ears as Ish is still in a denial stage...I could feel Dev's emptiness the moment he walked inside his own house which is no longer his "home"...but he is surrounded by selfish people...passing snide comments will not have any effect on them...it's a punishment for all them to be at receiving end to accept all the comforts given by him...but they are so shameless that they don't even realise or pretend their obliviousness at his actions...I don't know whether you observed..when they pass through Dixit Mansion and the little girl said what a beautiful house...this is fate...givers are always givers...no one acknowledge them...the inherent traits of Dev which has made many of us to like him definitely prevent him to be curt with his family...if he get rude with his dear ones then he is no longer DEV DiXIT...if you look at dev from his angle then we will empathize with him..but what's happening is on the contrary all are expecting Dev to behave according to their own perceptions...

I don't empathise with him Chithra. Not in the least. I understand him. But I don't support his thoughts or behaviour. Because he is not blameless in the situation that he is in right now. Considering his mom as God didn't give him the right to go blind where the rest of the world, including his wife.

For me, for now, he is not a hero. He is just a man. A spineless one at that.

Hi there! Long time, no see 🤗
Posting here after a very long interval but have been watching the show regularly.

I watched the episode just now and "indifference" is the first word that popped into my mind. I log in and see your post on it 😃 So, couldn't help but reply.

Dev has hurt Ishu where it hurts the most because she has done the same to him. I think indifference is worst that open hatred. This feeling that you don't matter any more - that must be a terrible one for her, coming from her son. He is playing the role of a dutiful son still but she is not his goddess any more. Once, she was indifferent to his happiness, now he is indifferent to her. I was cringing when she was telling him about how stars guide our path towards happiness 😡 What a facade she still tries to put on - doesn't she know Dev has seen through her mask of "goodness?" The last thing Dev's star did for him was think of his happiness 😡 And he didn't remark anything against her comments - he knows now that there's no use. Just keep play acting. And there was so much irony when he said "humein kya fark padta hai." It never mattered to his mother, so now he has added to her act and proving that it doesn't matter to him as well. That's the way to keep Ishu happy, better not get into the reality of it all! Did he touch her feet when he came in?? I wish they had shown us those days when these things changed ❓ Poor Ishu - she "won" over Sona but she lost what she fought so hard for - her place in Dev's life.

Honestly, I wasn't too happy with the leap news, especially with the kid thrown in. I never got to see the "mature" love story I wanted to but now I must say it looks interesting! I like the changed Dev and Sonakshi. I feel they were both at fault those 7 years back but it happens. When you are hurt, sometimes, we ignore things we see and know, knowingly. It takes that much to break away from someone we love too much but can't stay with. I hope they handle this track with subtlety and finally give us the mature love story. I love Sona though - she has proved that even if hearts break, dreams break, hopes break, and families break - as long as we don't break, we can still rebuild ourselves. The cracks will always be there, but the hopes can be rekindled.
