Fellow members - humour me..
Who do you sit and watch this show with?

Do Indian families now use words like "Hickey" in front of all age groups... I left India 14 years ago and I am beginning to think I am stuck in a time capsule so I ask

I used to watch the show with my whole family.
But luckily yesterday only me and my sister.
And frankly speaking I don't knew the word hickey, yesterday when visited forum came across the word for which I have Google to get the meaning.
And being an Indian, I don't think this word is used infront of family.

I watch the show alone and I like it that way only becoz I want to enjoy devakshi scenes in isolation 😉😛
I wish and pray if anybody is sitting at the time with me to get up and go somewhere else...I am little selfish but I want peace while watching the show...😆
Plus I record the episode while watching. My parents tease me that I am gonna postmortem each and every scene...
I guess the word hickey modern youth knows if any aunty watches this show then she may think that its just a chott and will not get the joke

I either watch alone or with my mom. 😊

I think that words like hickey are quite well-known among youth in urban areas. For the past fifteen-twenty years, there has been a lot of exposure to English (american/british) shows, movies, and culture, and now it's booming with the advent of youtube and digital media. There is also a lot more sex-positivity in general in the bigger cities. It's expected that Sona, having grown up in today's Delhi, would know this word.

Daily soaps cater to a wider audience so they don't always give a very accurate picture of what the urban youth looks like. Bollywood gives a better idea of this niche, with films from Dil Chahta Hai and Wake Up Sid, to Dear Zindagi and Pink. The show seems to be quite honest about Dev and Sona as contemporary, urban youth of this persuasion -- goody-goody though they may be! 😆 I think they are able to take these liberties because Sony is almost exclusively aimed at the urban market.

Yes the generation that has watched FRIENDS definitely knows the word.
The men in my house (husband , dad ) don't care abt the serial and my son I keep away.

So I try and watch alone
