Stressed!

Thanks to the high-stress environment on the sets, singer-turned-actress Twinkle Bajpai has developed asthma. The Betiyaan actress has had four asthma attacks in the last one month, triggered, her doctors say, by stress.

Twinkle has never had asthma problems earlier. A few days ago, while hosting Middle East Antakshari in Dubai, she suddenly got an asthma attack on the sets. Her colleague, Sharad Kelkar, who was nearby, rushed her to a doctor who pronounced Twinkle was asthmatic.

After returning from Dubai Twinkle got no respite from shooting for Betiyaan. Alhough the producers understood her plight and let her have adequate rest, she could not remain absent from the sets since Betiyaan is a daily show. As a result, she got two more asthma attacks in quick succession. The last attack was so strong that Twinkle had to be shifted from the sets to a nursing home in Goregaon, near Vis-a-Vis studio where the shooting of Betiyaan happens.

Our source from the Betiyaan set, says, "Twinkle is very tense these days. Until a few days ago, she was fit and fine. She is a very energetic girl, but of late, she's been very sluggish."

When contacted, Twinkle confirmed that she was keeping unwell. Explaining her ailment, Twinkle said, "When I got the first attack, I didn't know what asthma actually is. Only when a doctor explained the ailment to me in Dubai, I realised the gravity of the situation. Yes, I have had asthma attacks. Two happened in Dubai and two happened after I returned to Mumbai. The last one, in particular, was bad. I was alone in the house, then."

Her father immediately flew down from Lucknow, UP. He is currently staying with her. "My father came to stay with me. I am not staying alone now; my dad is with me. So I feel safer than before. He was terribly worried when he learnt about my susceptibility to asthma. I am taking all the necessary precautions," she added.

In Betiyaan, Twinkle plays Lakshmi, the unwanted girl child in the house who grows up to be a strong-willed woman who stands up for all the women in the house.
