Speaking about food, i liked that she was a foodie. Cant forget the gol gappa scene and even our hero wanted one from her hands. ❤️
But she became too much of a glutton later on.. Ugh.

Not exactly when she was imagining food but when she was like i have to eat everything before 12 strikes.. with her food spread out.. and calling HP for all the dishes. It was annoying. And im putting it mildly. Like she hasnt seen food before.. I totally missed this teej wali cutesy khushi. Food was sticking at the side of her mouth and she snatched it from his hands and ate even that.. Ugh..
IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 037
Pre-Teej Collision
1. This is one of those episodes where a writer learns of his/her consequence. Or rather, lack of consequence. This is an episode which belongs to the strength of performance and direction. And camera work. One of the many pleasures of nostalgia viewing is that one can appreciate the less-acknowledged crafts, such as camera and lighting. Since I became a student of serials, I've come to retroactively realize that 4LionsFilms is incredibly thoughtful about camera placement. When camera work informs story---that is the best. My favourite scene in today's episode is when Khushi is doing pooja, and is unaware of Arnav observing her. The cameraman's decision to shoot through this complex latticework of thread suggests the many barriers that stand between Arnav and Khushi. The focus-through allows us as viewers to see Khushi is inaccessible to Arnav. And the racking shot makes Arnav into a sort of voyeur.
2. This is totally about performance. Mr Sobti and Ms Irani are able to convey this very palpable fascination-fear that exists between the Hero and Heroine. When Khushi parts her eyes, she has just made a meaningful prayer---perhaps a wish---and the first object in her view is Arnav. Her eyes widen and she feels exposed somehow. His eyes stay very confidently on her. I love this Arnav. He never flinches for a moment. Once he moves away, Khushi remains hyper-aware of him. Those surreptitious glances. The eye-locks. Everything is conveyed through glances. Volumes are spoken between them. But only one line of real dialogue. This is the kind of scene that makes an aspiring writer want to hang up her pen and pick up a camera.
3. I forgot that this is also the moment when Khushi first discovers that her one ally at AR---Akaash Sir---belongs to this same family. And if that is not enough of a surprise, then I can imagine her thoughts when she realizes that this lovely man is "only son" of Manorama. Yikes. Akaash and Payal moments are as sweet as Arnav and Khushi moments are passionate. Here is a good place to acknowledge that when there is little dialogue, the music director has more work to do. We have the entire IPK theme library thrown at us in today's episode.
4. The Anjali that I envision in my IPK writing is the one we see in this episode. Gracious. Graceful. Generous. A woman who has been gently-reared. She says all the right things to make everyone feel at ease. Her comments to Payal about understanding how upset she must have been during the GuestHouse incident. Her gentle jab at Khushi and Arnav when she sees they are both wearing vermilion. Her observation of Akaash's interest in that girl.' I adore Anjali when she is like this. The perfect elder sister.
5. And she was spot on about Arnav's frustration: he was upset that he did not have a chance to explain/defend himself to Khushi during the resignation scene. As viewers we can see it festering as he waits at the stall next to Khushi. He tries to speak and she rushes away, blocking him from the relief he seeks. More frustration. This episode also highlighted for me that during the period between Khushi beyhoshing at GuestHouse and his depositing her into her bed---he spent some intimate moments with her which Khushi is unaware of. In a sense, Arnav has developed some attachment to her which she is ignorant of. This has also made him protective of her. When her eye is burning, his first instinct is to help her; he reaches out---and she is like, "Hello?! What are you doing?"

Maya,Super analysis. Your great attachment for this episode is apparent! 😆 And now that you have explained why in such in-depth detail, I am with you on that one. Definitely so much thought and pace in one incredible 20 minute episode. The camera speaks to us and speaks volumes as should be the norm in any daily TV show, but is so sadly a rare occurrence. Hrishikesh Gandhi, IPK's camera man and cinematographer Is a celebrated name in the circuit and one can definitely see why. The scene at the bargat ka ped (banyan tree) is so incredible for the complexity of emotions. Yes, Arnav is almost voyeuristic in sneaking longing glances at this woman who continues to pray with her eyes closed, blissfully unaware of the Laad governor's almost covetous glances. She opens her eyes and they widen, even as her smile disappears. Incredible expressions from both our hero and heroine. Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani truly nailed it. Stark trepidation in her eyes as she tries to steal furtive glances at him, while he looks on unflinchingly.Yes, we got the whole nine yards with the music score in this one episode. Tu hi bata so poignant and meaningful in this context. The background scores for Akash and Payal, the Rabba Vey strains, and the individual notes for each character as well. Wow.Anjali is certainly the lady of the manor, the incredible hostess, the person who makes sure everyone is at ease...and haha, I missed your comparisons to Pride and Prejudice here, Maya. This is where you tell us how like Georgiana Darcy she is, and how her manners are enough to make a saint feel indiscrete! She is gracious and charming about accepting Payal's apology and mindful of Arnav's and Akash's apparent state of mind, and interests.Lovely!Best,Anupama
