This might better symbolize Anjali's passivity.

There is a line in Ch11 of Jane's -Emma- which I recalled when thinking about Anjali yesterday:

There are people, who the more you do for them, the less they will do for themselves.

Yes, definitely those diya moments would have been so interesting, kya bolein...they should have done so. So true about Anjali...she was treated too much as a princess to worry about fending for herself...and yet in the biggest struggles of her life, i.e. Moving on from Shyam, it is she who had to fend for herself and decide to be tough. Anjali, if she set her mind to it could have been even stronger than Arnav. She even had the temperament going for her...ah well, the eternal wishes with regard to IPK!

It's not that I disliked arnav's concern for anjali but what I really dislike is that khushi was never as important to him...forget him, khushi was not as important to the creatives either after shyam's came truth out...khushi's character required dignity,to leave arnav...instead she was shown a clown.

Khushi tolerated many injustices by anjali/mami/arnav/the entire raizada family then... without a word...she should have said things because she could have said so many things..to akash/to arnav/anjali...even payal.
Akash who could not put two sentences together once became so condescending toward her, anjali was so stupid and delusional...if she really believed shyam when he said that a misunderstanding resulted in arnav-khushi thinking the worst things about him then why did she not ask shyam why he put all those entirely untrue allegations on her?what misunderstanding did he have about khushi's character?...that was one pathetic scene man...shyam being all 'she is young and thus can be prone to such things'...asshole.

Anjali and everyone else should be grateful they had a khushi in their lives.

Thank you for your comment, Sister.

Though it dissatisfied many, the later episodes of IPK (though I have not watched them) reflect a sad reality of family life. Those considered self-sufficient are neglected; those perceived as strong are not supported etc etc

I'm still trying to work out what came first. The chicken or the egg.

In your folder marked -IPK Wishlist-, add this, Sister:
Anjali Awakens: A trail-blazing serial of how a woman reclaims her life and teaches our society that a divorced single mother is not an object of scorn or sympathy, but can lead an amazing, audacious life on her terms. (Frequent appearances by Arnav + Khushi and their brood of twenty children!)

I totally agree with you

Love the 20+ kids Maya, can't wait! Arnav and Khushi are sure to be as besotted with each other even then! Lovely thought. And yes, would love to see a multitasking Anjal, who knows how to lead a full life, with or without her religion, family et al to cosset her. Support of course they always will!

IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 036

Mast-e-Calendar

1. Favourite moment: Arnav coming upon the calendar photos. His reaction is not one I will describe; it is self-evident. I love how he shuffles indifferently past Lisa's photos, "ok, ok..." and then! Our Heroine! Anjali is such a handy device for the Writers. She says, "Oh, Khushi! Doesn't she look lovely?" Arnav cannot deny it, but nor will his pride allow him to agree.

2. Arnav's other stellar moment: Insisting that Di stop this nonsense of feeling gratitude to Shyam for marrying her. And later in the episode when she is trying to reach Shyam her inability to make a simple decision without her husband's advice gives us a clue to their relationship. I'm not excusing Shyam's current conduct---not at all!---but I think that it would get pretty tiresome for a man to prop up his wife on every such small matter. I love Anjali---but needy and insecure women are not very attractive.

3. Poor Shyam. Life with the Gupta women (when one is named Buaji) is not very comfortable. Phone is confiscated. Agenda is hijacked. By this stage he ought to be chafing against the mess he has created. Which girl to take to the temple?---A very real dilemma for an adulterer.

4. We learn that Our Heroine is dreaming of Laad Governor every morning. I thought it was really cute how she jumps out of bed imagining she's late for work. And, of course, we see that when she realizes that she is not expected at work, that she's not going to have to deal with that LG today (or ever again!) she is not happy about it. I love that the Writers have created this moment to show that on the surface neither Arnav and Khushi enjoyed each other's presence; yet, now that it appears they will never meet, their lives seem hollow. He's mooning over her photos. She's wanting to go to work.

5. Loved Lavanya trying not to think about food. Butter! Tomato! (Some crusty bread, a bit of cheese, and she would have a nice sandwich!) I also love that Khushi is struggling with the fast. Usually in these serials, the heroine is like Payal and Anjali---women with no appetite for anything. I'm so pleased that Our Heroine is greedy about life and has a strong appetite for everything. That's my kind of Heroine.

Shyam is proving himself as perfect husband material. It seemed as though he genuinely wanted to bring back Khushi's smile which was wiped away by Khadoos LG. It did not seem like a he was pretending to impress Guptas. But she does not notice any of this. Her heart keeps on pulling towards that Laad governor who was responsible for her despondent state. Her heart started yearning for his love. As they say heart wants what it wants.
Anjali says she trusts Arnav's judgement and decisions. Yet she could not trust him when he told her about Shyam's duplicity.
It appeared Arnav just wanted to leave the house and stay somewhere. But Naniji's goading made him say that he would go to Lavanya's.
Loved that scene between brother and sister. His researching on Teej is totally Arnav like. This shows that he is capable of immense love.
I mooned over Arnav's mooning over Khushi's calendar photos. Even when Anjali left after talking about how to make Lavanya impress Naniji, it seemed his mind drifted back to Khushi.
Lavanya's monologue on food and fasting is cute.

Haha! Great summation! Let me start with the last point first. I love Khushi because she is greedy about accepting life in every sense of the term. Whether it is food, or colors or attitude...she lives the biggest, brightest, most full life possible, embracing food and flavones with zest and energy. It is this inherent characteristics of hers that leaves the men swooning and the women charmed!

Arnav mooning over the calendar shoot pictures is truly a favourite moment. He cannot seem to help himself. He is caught in recurrent flashbacks of the shoot and Khushi's immense beauty. He cannot seem to get his head around the fact that he may not see her again. Anjali's interruption drags him back to reality and he flings it away in self disgust!

Yes Maya, Anjali is too needy. This obsession with consulting her brother or her husband for everything, of her desperate need for their validation of all her actions, stems for her inner insecurities. I dare say after their unfortunate past, while Arnav cut himself off from feeling and worked relentlessly to get them both on their feet, Anjali felt everything too deeply and began to shape herself into a person that would make the people around her happy. She always plays the moderator and peace maker, from a deep rooted need to keep the status quo and the calm.

Khushi awakes with a start dreaming of Arnav and is besotted enough to be unhappy that she is upset about not going to work. Buaji did go more than a little ballistic I thought, in confiscating Shyam's phone and preventing him from going to work. I mean, have heard of controlling spouses and parents, but a despotic Buaji...I was only glad her poor husband had passed on...I mean what the...a tyrant of the highest order this woman. Not letting her nieces eat in the name of fasting for Teej...keeping tabs on a grown man that is after all a paying guest!

The build-up to Teej has been fabulous...we as the audience get a feeling that something momentous is going to happen!

Best,

Anu

Speaking about food, i liked that she was a foodie. Cant forget the gol gappa scene and even our hero wanted one from her hands. ❤️
But she became too much of a glutton later on.. Ugh.

Such a build-up. In both houses.
My favourite bit is not Teej but the pre-Teej where Khushi is making her wish and she parts her eyes and finds Arnav watching her. (Apologies---I'm getting ahead of myself.)
