Hola Amigos!
I was just wondering if we would get a Sangeet ceremony in Devakshi wedding...
So I thought, when we have so many bengalis on our forum, why not ask their help?
So all you dear buddies, can you help me with my query?
Do we have Sangeet ceremony in our Bengali wedding ceremonies?
Hello!
The answer to your query is a no
In our traditional Bengali weddings there is no sangeet. It starts with the aashirwaad which is like a roka and sagaai punched together.
It is then followed by the Haldi. On the same day of the Haldi, which takes place in the morning, there is the wedding at the bride's house in the evening.
The day after that, the bride comes to her sasuraal finally and on the following day we have the reception traditionally know has the boubhaat, or the bride's first meal at her sasural.
And finally like every other community you have the pag fera the next day.
But in today's modern world, people like to mix and match things they like. So if someone really wants to, they can incorporate a sangeet between ashirwaad and Haldi. But that would be outside tradition! :D
Hope this answers your query! 😃
