Maya - this is such a great post. Love the analysis. I am currently on my second pass with this serial and they are currently showing the forced wedding track. Wish you were on the same track too. But I am enjoying your insights and perspective very much.
I got hooked into this serial by the chemistry of this couple in the promos and they have not disappointed. In every episode they deliver. I started out as an ASR/Arnav/Chote fan and loved Barun's acting in each facet of the character but Sanaya very soon caught up and ended up making me a fan girl of the madcap Khushi. Now that I am caught up reading on past episodes...look forward to daily discussion.
IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 031
Thoughtful Akaash
1. The highlight of this episode for me is the first ten minutes. Arnav delivers a clear-rational-composed argument to Nani and Vidya's parents why it is in nobody's interest---especially Vidya's---for them to pursue a rishta with an unwilling groom. And he is absolutely right. Arnav is sometimes represented in discussion and fanfic as a shouty, raging man. And I think that is unfair. I see him as someone who has a great deal of self-mastery. And I would go so far as to say that when he gets out-of-control it is usually with Khushi; this is how the writers convey to viewers that Khushi provokes him like no other. She is the exception, not the rule.
2. What is going on with Shyam? He is still actively campaigning for Khushi to resign. And then he gets this lost look in his eyes, and philosophizes on how some mistakes cannot be recovered from. Is he referring to his current situation, or reflecting on his decision to marry Anjali? Not quite sure about that moment.
3. It is so effective how that scene is framed. Khushi is seated and is surrounded by these three who are badgering her to resign. Like the three witches from Macbeth :-) I love that our Heroine does not succumb. She states that to resign by phone is a cowardly act. And the look on Shyam's face is priceless when Payal says, "and if Mr Raizada sues you for breaking the contract, then we have Shyamji to fight our case. Right, Shyamji?"
4. The scene of Akaash when he tells Anjali that he is disturbed by all this talk in the family on suitable rishtas reveals his beautiful, sensitive nature. He is more like Anjali than Arnav. He feels that the family has forgotten about the importance of character in a bahu. We also get another clue from Anjali about her husband; how it is his character not his wealth that has earned him the respect of all.
5. A final thought: I believe Khushi has formed a subconscious bond with her punisher and her rescuer, Arnav. (And he with her!) First her initial reluctance to resign. (I feel this is about something other than the clause in the contract.) Then her disinclination to return to Lucknow. In Episode 25, she told Shyam very confidently that they would soon be returning. She spoke as though there was no question that they would return. And now, she doesn't seem as enthusiastic. The Guesthouse incident is the only event since that conversation. One would expect that after such an experience she would wish to leave both AR and Delhi. Something beyond her understanding happened in the Guesthouse. She flashes back to that moment of rescue and when Arnav pins her against the wall. Goosebumps.

Fabulous Analysis of the episodes.
It's like reliving Ipkknd. With a different perspective.Just read all in one go.
Maya,Superb as ever...First things first. Will you please name the previous chapter 'Mujhe farak nahi padta' seeing as you have tagged some question marks to it for now! Irks the eye, what can I say, have OCD in such matters!Okay, on to Episode 32. We have a simpering Buaji, uff, she would have made life easier if she married Shyam without further ado! A not happy with things Payal, a lost in thought Khushi and a Machiavellian Shyam wearing an innocent expression! Loved the analogy to the three witches! Glad Khushi did not succumb. She is no coward and will certainly hold her own with regard to her resignation also. Akash is certainly the sweetest and kindest. He would rather marry simple Payal than the beauty queens of the world and cherishes all the values and tehzeeb of true blue Lucknowi people! Khushi certainly has had a change of mind about returning to Lucknow. A certain Mr Raizada and images of his sinewy arms and molten caramel eyes refuse to leave her. Love, we wish...but a long road ahead for the actual process to kick in, methinks! And finally, thank you for pointing that bit out about Arnav not being an irrational human being, except when it comes to Khushi. Valid point there. And with her, we know now why he behaved the way he did. He was eminently practical in telling Nani that neither he nor Vidhya nor anyone else would have been happy with the wedding arrangement. He is quite right. He has been painted as a worldly wise businessman so certainly he must know a thing or two about these matters. He cannot be as completely naive as Anjali paints him out to be.That brings us one step closer to their grand confrontation!Waiting!Anu

Thank you, Anu----Episode 30 title has now been amended :-)Aside: Buaji has enormous meaty hands. (Noted when she reached out to caress Shyam's face) It brought to mind a scene in -Jalebi- when she slaps Khushi. The thought of those hands on Our Heroine! Egad.Re: Arnav's rational mind. What I also love about that delivery is how precise and unemotional it is. This is the Arnav which my writing inspires. He doesn't get all harried. "Don't raise your voice; improve your argument."
Hmm...speaking of Buaji's dhai kilo ka haath...not sure you saw the later episode when the family finds out thanks to Arnav's Dadi that their marriage was not done properly. Buaji then is about to let fly on poor Khushi's face...when who, but Mr Raizada, walks up and stops her...filmy style! Terrific scene that one was!
