Posted this elsewhere earlier - laziness knows no bounds. Please feel free to respond with your poems. This was written in response to a lovely poem by @surochitadutta.
Pretence
of emptiness in a crowded heart,
of cool breeze on a balmy night,
The past under the guise of a fresh start,
Reality and charade engaged in a fierce fight.
Charade,
of smiles to hide dark despair,
of twinkling lights that veil the black night,
of a brave spirit that hides fear with theatrical flair,
of broken wings ready for a long flight
A facade,
of shallow seas, hiding plunging depths,
of stillness to camouflage turbulent tides,
of happiness,
under which she crouched down and wept.
of stunning strength, behind which she quietly hides.
Grief
still masked,
A journey unplanned,
Questions
unasked,
A togetherness
not grand.
They meet one day
to make their way,
towards a future bright,
but seemingly bland.
When the performance ends,
and the curtains are drawn,
behind the charade and
the broken facade,
remain a girl and a boy
with their tender hearts.
