A lovely episode 12 definitely. Set the stage for so many things. Khushi planning on working in the inventory and losing the appointment letter at Devi Maiyya's alter, rather fittingly before getting shunted off to the main office to meet Lavanya, and her being hired for a job she was neither qualified to do nor wanted, all so beautifully directed. Khushi's growing up starts right there and her belief that people are all essentially good until proven bad like the 'Rakshas' start right here...I like what you say, Anu, about Khushi's education begins here. She really did look quite tender amongst the Pams-Sims-Sonias-Las of the office. But we see that Devi Maiyya is orchestrating all this so we can relax :-)Bit incautious of Shyam to find Khushi a position at his bro-in-law's firm. Yes, it was way back in inventory, but nevertheless. That he did so suggests two things:1. That he does not know Khushi's connection with Arnav. Did he see that fashion-show footage? Did he enquire why those goons were bothering Khushi?2. That he has no need to be careful yet, because at this point he does not have illicit intentions towards KhushiJalebi Jane
IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 013
Nani Jasoos
1. I confess, my opinion of Nani sank today. The Matriarch of a distinguished family should not---ought not!---riffle through her grandson's bedroom. It is undignified. And I think this is an inconsistency in the characterization of Nani. Because she was introduced to us as a dignified lady. Ethical. Devout. With the highest standards of how to live in this world. In fact, these are the qualities which distinguish her from Mami. Mami?---now if Mami was riffling through Akaash's bedroom it would not surprise me.
2. But Nani certainly proves that she is Arnav's grandmother. That plan of sending flowers to the house, ostensibly from Lavanya, is a genius ASR-like move. Now that is an elegant tactic. Looking through a young man's bedroom is not.
3. I know it's a necessary plot device, but I can't help but feel badly for Khushi each time she is shamed by her colleagues. Yes, she is not a natural fit in that particular office culture---but so what? In any case, I cringe for her but am more ashamed for their lack of grace. What is lovely is that Khushi takes it all in her stride. This is one of her most admirable qualities: She does not doubt herself and she does not self-shame. She continues to turn her desk into an altar.
4. I like where that episode ends. Arnav is speaking to Lavanya about this puzzling flower delivery but Khushi's desk catches his eye. He even takes a step toward the desk. In a symbolic sense, his attention has been drawn away from Lavanya and has found Khushi.
5. Does he sense her? Are we witnessing the first incident of that phenomenon which will recur throughout their history? I know it's a oft-used device, but I also enjoyed how he passed by her thrice and failed to see her. Even though our Heroine does stand out like a lit Christmas tree.
