Hi friendsI am Angel n this is my first topic on the forum.
There is genre which is tried least in BW and even if someone tries it has failed to get attention as well as box office numbers in recent times. The critics and the audience both kind of don't watch these films. That is Chick Flicks and Teenage Romances. If we see HW it is one of a successful genre. 1000s of movies are made of High school and college life and they are success at box office and with critics. Like 10 things I hate about you, High School Musical, Bridesmaids, Juno, The Duff, the perks of being wallflower, Mean girls n many more...
And here in India we do not think about this genre. Teenage emotions are not shown. And heroines have only two parts to play here either dumb flower pots or a women who fights every odd (like women centric films like kahani, mardani etc.)
Why has bollywood ignored the movies where a normal girls life is shown she is not perfect beautiful but she comes to love herself her family. Or some college romances (agar bw mein cllg romances dikhaye bhi toh they r over after interval like main tera hero, dil, etc.)
Aisha was a movie remade from Emma which was based on college life but Aisha they changed the scenario bw mein college life pe movie banane ki himmat nai hai.
Guddi I feel a closer chick flick then many of the women centric movies made. It was a school girls discovery about the difference b/w reel n real life. In my opinion it was the closest to a chick flck.
Also in teenage romance was Love Story starring Kumar Gaurav n Vijeyata Pandit it showed teenage emotions and immaturity in love.
Jo jeeta woh sikander was also somewhat a chick flick teenage romances, first love, college life and all.
But ab agar aisi movies banti hai people don't even know their names.
Like Gippy is a very beautiful movie it's abt a school girl her loss of first love, weight issues and still in the end she learnt to love herself her family and he friends.
And also Always Kabhi Kabhi it was not that great but still it was a good effort to give an insight of college life and first love.
So what do you think guys ab aise movies kyu nai banti bw mein and agr banti hai toh suffer the same fate as gippy or always kabhi kabhi jinka naam bhi nahi pata honge 80% audience ko?
Audience aisi movies dekhna nai chahti kya?
