A dressmaker's dummy is a life size form usd for holding fabric or material in dress making.The dressmaker uses it to design, measure, style and sew a finished garment .the dummy also gives a rough idea of what the finished garment is likely to look like as a finished product. Since the fabric is unstitched, size adaptability takes place for a perfect fit. Dressmakers pins are used on the dummy to hold the pre-stitched garment in place till its stitched together. Dhani too for Dulari is like a dressmakers dummy upon which Dulari has thrown over the material of circumstances. Dhani has remained mute while Dulari as the tailor in her life has been in charge of key events in her daughter's life. Thus Dulari has had the upper hand in what so ever happened in Dhani's past. The episode is another example of Dulari's tailoring skills where she is seen to, design cut and stitch not only Dhani but Vidha's outfits too for their future use!
In the middle of the street within the public eye a serious proposal is put forth by Dulari before Parshiya. More like a veiled command than a suggestion, Dulari urges he should marry Dhani. She makes good use of Vidha's welfare as the most well being and least controversial reason. So Vidha is kept as the focal point for designing Dhani and Parshiya's marriage. Vidha's bonding with Parshiya ,rather than his relationship with Dhani is used by Dulari as the dressmakers pins to shape her daughter Dhani's new marriage. Parshiya was never against the idea and thus is willing only on the condition if Dhani consents to the proposal. He admits he will remain Vidha's papa regardless. Parshiya gives space to Dhani. Alongside Dulari rather craftily brings in her child's happiness! eventually this and Viplav's letter,renders Dhani mute. The dummy's silence speaks volumes to Dulari ,Parshiya ,Pratibha and to them all her silence means affirmative to the notion of marrying Parshiya! Hence the future wear outfit both Vidha and Dhani are to wear, are cut out by Dulari ready for stitching! Inside the privacy of their house Dulari plays the doting mother but is quick to remind Dhani that in life one has to cruel to be kind to one's self. She ensures that Dhani only think's as a mother and less as a woman who possibly still loves Viplav.
Dashrant continues his job of blessing a young boy in the name of Lord Shiva at the local temple. After the ceremony he recalls Viplav's letter, his decision never to return in their lives. Dashrant recalls how Tripurari sits in the wings ready to gobble Dashrant's wealth . He prays before Shiva for the protection of Viplav's life where ever his grandson is.. and prays for protection from Tripurari's evil designs. Durga too turns up at the time and offers Dashrant her support which he turns down. Nothing has changed for Dashrant he remains obsessed by his wealth being taken over by another, and he continues to reject Durga and his illegitimate son Tripurari.
Its not just Vidha's welfare that forces Dhani into her destined marriage with Parshiya. It's predominantly Viplav's letter with the return of her mangulsutra. Its virtually his granting her divorce that she sought from him.Viplav bidding her to marry Parshiya certainly has a bearing on the decision she gave outside to Dulari ,Parshiya and Pratibha. But Dhani still needs further confirmation if she is doing the right? for Vidha's sake is good enough reason , Viplav too in his letter suggests that.. but why is there sadness in Dhani's heart? is she being fair to Parshiya? their friendship? She knows he knows full well, she doesn't love him.Then why is he going through the marriage? Dhani justifies her silent yes.. Vidha and Parshiya's bonding is a strong reason for going through this marriage. After all he is the father figure that her child has grown up with. There are far too many things going against waiting for Viplav or even beginning life with Viplav ,muses Dhani..
Seeing Parshiya and Vidha playing together happily assures Dhani she is not making a mistake in marrying Parshiya. Dulari as the arranger of dhani's life still wants to ensure that Dhani is firm in her stance to marry Parshiya and doesn't change her mind at the last moment, which Dhani has done so on a number of occasions in the past. Dulari still gives Dhani the option to change her mind if she still has feelings for Viplav.. but along side she also reiterates how vital it is for Vidha to have a father. Dhani can sense her mother's discomfiture in perhaps forcing Dhani.. into marrying Parshiya.. so to rid her mother Dulari from her guilt . Dhani shows her Viplav's letter where he approves of the fact that Parshiya would be the ideal father for Vidha and that the man will keep both Vidha and her happy.. but Dhani is still in floods of tears.. to which Dulari is blind as long as she gets her way into arranging Dhani and Vidha's life. Over the years has Dulari imposed her own mind set upon Dhani? that off move on! even if it means breaking blood bonds ,breaking rights that parents have over their children! This then is one mother who tramples her daughter's sentiments.
Well Kanak as a mother, who will not take it lying down. She challenges Dashrant's decision of naming Tripurari as his heir , since Viplav is missing. Dashrant tries to reason with her but Kanak is in no mood to tolerate injustice being meted out against her son Viplav! she is realistic as she brings up possibilities that Viplav might have flown to Boston for all they know! funnily enough Kamini is in favour of Tripurari being the heir as Viplav never cared about inheriting Dashrant's position ! But Kanak too gives her as good as she gets! and insists that if not Viplav than Atharva should be named as the heir! but no way Tripurari! even though Dashrant says why not ?Tripurari is his blood! Why is Kamini supporting Tripurari? Mind you in her rage Kanak accuses Tripurari of possibly kidnapping her son Viplav and also penning the letter sent to their house. Kamini looks very guilty.. its clear now that Kamini may have written the letter from Viplav to Dhani.. as the focus of the letter is on Vidha needs a father and that Dhani should marry Parshiya! This was a proposition that Kamini made to Dhani when the two last met!
Mother and daughter bonding..Dhani stitches ripped pieces of her life together. Vidha draws her attention to her doll.. she needs a new dress too.. to me both females are like dolls in Dulari the dressmakers hands. New dress to me is the beginning of a fresh chapter in both Vidha and Dhani's lives.. but then Dhani pricks her finger.. with the memory of her beloved lost love.. how he had sucked at her finger and had taken the pain out of her life.. but Dhani faces reality all that is past. Life is not a game of playing with dolls.. sadly her marriage to Parshiya will be the wedding between two dolls and not two living people!
His princess worries sick for him.. where is Viplav? but soon enough serves reminders to her family..viplav has gone missing due to their foul deeds done in the past. Dashrant is being done for ill-treating Durga! Kamini is being brought to task due to what Dashrant did to Viplav! Kamini shouts Viplav is missing due that Dhani !its all her fault!
Viplav is alive! In a dark room.. possibly drugged ! he reaches for a glass of water on his side.. the metal glass falls with a clang on the ground.. he falls back on the bed and passes out!he is Viplav he wears a purple shirt! My objection to cvs.. Dutta too was introduced in Laagi 2. As a drugged captive.. distasteful could they not have come up with a better idea like keeping him blind folded?
waiting for the man in the purple shirt's return.. incidentally,Purple stands for wisdom, royalty, wealth and purple heart is a symbol of bravery ! hamlet53 27.7.16
