ch -3 Pieces OF a puzzle

NEPAL

I tighten the shawl around me , as the freezing wind hit my body . I open my sleepy eyes taking a fill up of the snow clad mountains around , they look so enchanting and mysterious . me with NK had reached Kathmandu , Nepal yesterday evening . we had decided to rest for the night and then resume our journey in the morning . we had left as early as 6 in the morning to reach the base camp till 12 in the noon . we would exactly have four hours to shoot and interview people as the sun sets full so early there .

Our car come to a sudden halt , as NK was sleeping beside on the back seat , I ask the driver whats wrong ? he has just said that some man is asking for lift . I don't like talking or giving lift of any kind to any strangers , you have to be careful all the time especially when you are in unknown place like this . I open my mouth to reject the deriver but the man come near the passenger seat in a second and I can only see his back to me with broad shoulder and around 6ft height . next I hear both the man and my driver talk in nepali , he doesn't looked like too me especially because of his height . I can feel his tense demeanour and all I can guess by his momentum of his voice , I can guess that it must be important for him to reach the place . I just don't know what and how but I tell my driver to let him in , he looks at me shocked for a moment but soon conveys the same to the man , the man just say a small thank you and nod his head in appreciation . I still haven't seen his face but I don't know why but my heart beat has increased from moment I have seen him and is desperately want to see his face .

Its just me or all of sudden environment have become a little warmer which cant be true especially when we are moving in heaviest rainfall of decade. Me eyes again wanders to the stranger that has pulled his hat on his face and now is probably sleeping with his bag in his laps . I too try to have some sleep and all I can dream about is star filled eyes , I feel as if I am flying , I feel warm body embracing me close as I let his warmth sink into me . I felt extreme pain and I felt extreme soothing I feel smile , laughs , I feel happy . my eyes open in shock as a loud voice of horn break my day dreams .

NK looks at me in shock himself , then I look at surroundings , and see huge tents , mountaineering equipment's , small barbecue place we have reached . I leave the warm confines of car and embrace the freezing wind of south side base camp of Mount EVEREST . NK take out all our luggage and I take a fill of the surrounding and suddenly my eyes flew to the passenger seat which was occupied by the stranger a while back .

" where is the man who took lift ? " I asked looking at rajan our driver who reply in his nepali accent hindi .

" he moved out on the previous place mam " rajan replies and I only nod at him . why my heart feel sad at the news , why I have felt a weird connection to him , looks like this freezing cold has freezed my mind too .

Next three hours went in setting up cameras , microphone and mike in place and introducing us to the mountaineers and shepars . I have to say there so many inspiring stories here some our so emotional and praise worthy that you really want to look back and see what you have been doing till now . what surprises me a women of Nepal origin who leaves in England now is going to climb the Mount Everest for the eighted time . then there is another man who had lost his leg in an accident and is here to achieve something . offcourse there are so many foreign mountaineers too who are very excited as some are doing for the first time or some are try again after a failed attempt previous time . what surprises me is the enthusiasm which has not dimed a little even after the news of so many people dyeing in previous year earthquake . after talking to almost to everyone and capturing their stories and magnificent surrounding , we had our dinner .

I have pulled my every strength in pulling her up but she kept on moving more down . my hold on her hand losses due to tiredness and all I can hear is mind numbing screams as I see her flying in air and flying her body hitting a rock hard and drowning in the river . I scream my heart out . my eyes open from the nightmare , my body shaking and drowned in sweat my breaths coming in splits . I make my way out of the tent only to be captured in the deep darkness of night only night coming from few neon lights put out . I take out a torch and start making my way on the snow clad road .

you are the reason she is not here with us

I just don't understand how you are still breathing with such a big sin over your soul

you were suppose to be eachother's strength

Same voices running in my head again and again , making my blood rush to my brain in instant . I run , I run as fast as I can to stop this voices from coming to me . my foot slips a few times on the slippery snow but I keep on going . suddenly a big bright light hit my eyes , I cover my eyes with my hand trying to protect them from scorching light . my eyes take time to adjust to the light in front of me . I look around worriedly , I have certainly lost my way . I check my pocket hoping for the walkie talkie in there but my hand come empty . I look here there puzzled when my eyes again set on the direction of beaming light that has now dimed a little . I make towards hoping to be someone's house where I can rest for the night and then make my way back to camp in the morning . temperature has decreased , and I can feel my body getting numb as I rub my hands to bring some heat .

My eyes get more shocked as I near the source of light , light is coming out of a big snow cave . I make way inside not thinking for second this mystery is too intriguing to be let go off . It was journalist inside who was looking for a out of the world story or was it the suicidal part of me who always jump at such opportunity that brings me near death , I don't know . I see a solitude of a man's figure moving near crystal snow , I follows him but suddenly my eyes fall on the a machine flying mid air in shape of half bird and tail of snake , it red glittering eyes look at me as of scanning me , my eyes catch the man movie in some round door but as I make my way towards him , the flying machine attack me , leaving me injured with his pointy stink tail .

I fall on the ground with a loud scream as I see the blood oozing out of my stomach in large scale , my eyes look at the machine as it again make towards me to kill me finally . i feel so scared , I can feel the numbness spreading in body . this is the end , finally I will free from guilt , from burden , from feeling of failure , from this life .

My eyes closes momentarily as I see the machine come towards me , sound of something breaking reaches my ears and I open my eyes to see the same man whose shadow I see walking . ,man clutches the machine from two sides and crushes it in a second in front of my eyes . my eyes closes due to exhaustion .

He comes running to me and takes my head in his lap , slapping my cheeks slowly to get a response . my eyes open slowly only to meet his worried one .

"star !" this is the only word I able to mange looking at him , strength leaving my body . I never knew that I will meet him again . I would never have imagined that the day I meet him will be my last . I don't why I do that but I cup his right cheek in my palms looking at his star filled eyes which has darken from the last time I saw them , they have become more human looking . a small tears fell from my eyes and my breath get laboured , I mange to bring a small smile to lips looking at him .

"khushi ! relax ok . I will heal you , its going a hurt a little but you will be fine . trust me " I didn't have the strength enough to give a shocked expression at him knowing my name . I could just nod my head slowly , trusting his words .

Next I only felt extreme pain as a bright red light make its way out of his eyes . I feel warmth and at peace as I feel the embrace of his arms

" khushi wake up ! hey wake up ! " I look at NK with my sleepy eyes , nk but how he find me . I look here and there to see me safely covered in my sleeping bag . I quickly come out of bed and pull my shirt up to see the wound of last night but there is nothing but white skin glowing with not even a scratch . I feel astonished , have I dreamed all this , did I meet him in my dream . no it cant be it felt so real , I look confused and shocked . I feel nk s hand on my shoulder who ask if I was fine , I just nod in his direction .

Was that all was just a figment of imagination ?
