best film so far this year? - Page 2

For me, the movies of 2007 (released so far) that deserve popular as well as critical acclaim are:

1. Gandhi - My Father
2. Guru
3. Chak De! India
4. Saawariya
5. Jab We Met

In that order. The only next release that I can see topping over any of these may be Taare Zameen Par, although I doubt if it will go above Guru.

OSO may be a commercial superhit, but I personally don't think that it was good cinema worthy of any award (except maybe if they can create an award for the best ensemble, of 31 stars, which I admit, was quite impressive). The entire movie came across as a combination of spoofs and was very crass, Farah did better in Main hoon naa. I love Shahrukh, Chad De is third on my list, but OSO was too over the top. (OSO fans can bash me up here, but I assume everyone is entitled to an opinion).

Other releases, I don't know when Delhi 6 is going to release, it sounds interesting too. But compared to 2006 (Range De Basanti and Lage Raho), there isn't anything spectacular and ground breaking this year except Gandhi- My Father.
