NEERJA: India's official entry to Oscars?

Starring Sonam Kapoor in the lead role and outstandingly supported by Shabana Azmi, with Yogendra Tiku as the ideal father, Ram Madhvani's emotionally charged marriage of good virtue cinema and human spirits honed the talent of Sonam Kapoor as a terrific actress in NEERJA. A thanks giving conference was recently held and while elaborating on its future distribution strategies in the untapped overseas markets, Vijay Singh CEO, Fox Star Studios India said, "We had a well-planned strategy for such strong content driven film like NEERJA, starting with 700 screens in first week, thanks to the appreciation we increase the count to 1000+ in week 2, we are now strategically exploring other untapped markets of Bollywood as we feel NEERJA is a story that needs to reach the maximum".

It must be noted that a similar practice was instigated by Fox Star Studios for the iconic SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE..

When quipped on the possibility of NEERJA to be lobbied as India's official entry for Oscars, Vijay Singh got excited and expressed that the movie has all the credentials and they are planning to instigate the process to be India's official entry..

Though the official confirmation from the studio and other concern is awaited, but we feel NEERJA - The flawless triumph of human spirit is the best choice right now and truly deserves the Oscar nod.. Sonam Kapoor may have not asked for more than that

Hollywood has done many hijack films and there is the superior, brilliant United 93 that has ended up as a nominee before.

Indian awards can shower all their love on Neerja. 😃

Foreign Language category is a serious business. The jury back in India should first watch these films to see what kind ends up there... but I guess, that's asking for too much.😆

Neerja is a great story, but Oscars are about the art, which the movie is not at par with Oscar level contenders.
