Annyeong - haseyo, I am bhavika (you can also call me Jheel or anything that you like) and like you all, I too, am a drama fanatic (A Big one😳). I joined IF a few years back, but stumbled upon this forum only few months back. I did not post anything immediately as there were very few people around to interact with and which is why I soon forgot about this forumšŸ˜›. But ,recently, when she was pretty (SWP)premiered and i badly wanted a fangirling partner , I remembered that there was actually a place for that on IF (Yay!) Sure enough there a was topic on SWP šŸ˜‰ After posting few comments on that thread I realized that forum activity still is very (very) low here ( and i just couldn't NOT do anything about it!šŸ˜†)
so i started to think up ideas for new topics. And while doing that I read a drama review , which gave me the idea of posting my owns reviews!. As I have not seen anything on that here before I thought it would be nice way to share my opinions on and talk about my favorite dramas and also get your opinions , all in one swoop. 😊 And the first drama that I am reviewing today is not a very popular or recent one, but instead a old one that I really liked.

DRAMA REVIEW - 18 VS 29

This drama was aired way back in 2005 but I found it only recently, and was taken aback by how much I liked it. I have the tendency to Google every and any drama and movie before watching it as it gives me some idea of what I'm in for and what to expect and that is why I was so surprised when this drama hit almost all the right spots for me, because its plot was so overdone and cliched even back then - top star's wife suffers from amnesia - but it handled it pretty nicely. For most of its run, it's a funny, sweet (sweet) rom - com, which makes you smile and giggle and reach for the next episode.

I m not delusional to say that it is a perfect drama (no drama is) but it has just enough heart and humor to keep you interested. The characters are refreshingly relatable, real and flawed (which I dig). When I read that our heroine is a housewife of some hallyu star,I ...just ..couldn't...Gah, just know that I hate submissive women with no identity and no intention to make one. But Yoo hye - chan was NOT a submissive women, she was in fact a modern - yet -traditional, forward thinking, ambitious person with DREAMS. And I loved her, Period. She is shown as the girl who wanted to become a famous script writer and PD , wanting to make her own dramas , but she eventually gave up that dream to stay by sang young's side ( her husband of few and boyfriend of 11 years) and support him in achieving his dream. And I know many people may scoff at this self - sacrificial action, but I would like to say that she did that because sang young was actually a very amazing guy, he was sweet, caring, doting, loving ( there are just not enough adjectives to describe him) and totally worth the pain (at least initially) and she wanted to do it for him, which made a whole lot difference. Sang young on the other hand is portrayed as the guy who really loves his wife but has trouble explaining it and after a point gets so busy in his work that he starts taking her for granted as he is only used to receiving love from her. He doesn't see the need to tell her how feels repeatedly. But to hye chan this looks life he lost interest in her. The only issue that tore this relationship apart is lack of communication, which is great as it makes their problems seem real and true to life.

My favorite part of this drama is the 11 year courtship of this couple and how they transition from high school sweet hearts to young adult lovers and finally husband and wife. Writers make an effort to show us the entire relationship, even what happens after that "happily ever after" and if you watch k - dramas you know it is a rare occurrence. And if not for anything else, watch it for the short memory clips at the end of each episode. They are cute AND relevant to the story.

But as I said before this is not a perfect show , despite being a decent watch , the drama does get repetitive and sometimes you are left wondering whether the writer has run out of plot points. And although I loved hye chan she sometimes annoyed me so much I wanted to throw something at the screen and in the last few episodes I just couldn't connect with the show emotionally. Also, I have a feeling that some of you may find it a slow watch.

At the end of the day if you want to watch something light but not fluffy, this might be where you would want to start. If not for anything else you can watch this for choi siwon! Its his first drama and he looks SO CUTE.

Anyoeng everyone, I hope you guys have been doing well and oh! - happy belated Diwali to all of you.

I know that it has been ages since I posted my (first and) last review, But I'm back now and armed with another review. This time it is my personal favorite mini drama (just 3 episodes long) ma boy, its short, light hearted (but not without a heart) and the perfect alternative of a rom - com (if you are bored by them).

DRAMA REVIEW - MA BOY

Ma boy aired 3 years back on tooniverse , a South Korean kid's entertainment channel, so the target audience of this drama are the pre tweens and tweens . I think this might possibly be the only drama with so less drama in it(heh). Starring KIM SO - HYUN and idol star SUN - WOONG in lead roles, it tells the story of JANG GEU - RIM, a ordinary girl who joins an arts highschool and gets to be the roommate of irene , who is a big time CF star and exceptionally beautiful who has boys trailing after her wherever she goes. But irene has a secret - she is actually a guy.

Gender - benders are a common thing in kdramas, so don't be too surprised if the story still feels fresh to you. I know I was. Unlike many others Ma boy handled its gag very well , cross - dressing was used not only for the laughs but also to give our hero some depth . our hero ,HYUN - WOO ,is shown as the guy who aspires to be an dancer( idol star?) and despite practicing diligently he keeps getting rejected but gains fame as irene , putting him in an identity crises , which I loved and for idol sun woong played hyun woo and irene very well even though it was his first drama. It helped that the drama was so short and he didn't have the chance to make many mistakes.

This is also one of kim so hyun's first leading role , no matter how small the drama was, it was Hers and she was good in it. Some may like her chemistry with sun woong and some may not ( I liked it) because they have a huge age gap (she was 13 and he was 21 or something) but at the end they were cute and the drama was even more cute so if you want to watch something like lizzy McGuire then choose this and I promise you wont be bored.

I would like to make a special mention for actor min hoo who played the adorably dumb idol star tae - joon (he had me in splitsšŸ˜†)

P.S. A big thanks to anyone who read my review and thank you tutu982, sreeammy, Onie..., for liking my post

Anyeong everyone, I am back with another review for guys 😃 i hope you guys like it😳 and thanks to everyone who commented or liked the previous one šŸ¤—also, a silent thanks to the silent readers😊

You know that drama which despite being full of faults still manages to leave a certain fondness in your heart? , playful kiss is that drama to me. I know it is bad compared to some of the other beautiful ones but it still outranks those for me. Because it introduced me to dramaland, the first drama that I ever watched and I love this one, faults and everything.

But! That does not mean I am stupid enough to recommend it without pointing out the mistakes. I remember watching it for the first time and thinking "how slow can this show be??" , I might have even snored a little here and there during the first episode as it was a little boringšŸ˜›. But i decided to stick it out as I found their language so weird and interesting and the fact that I loved our lead hani(jung so min)from the get go also helped, but it was really the second that got me hooked and after that I was a certified k drama addict. Hehe :P

The plot of this show is quite simple with no high scale twist, as it follows a slice of life format. OH HA-NI, an high school senior, has a huge crush on BEAK SEUNG-JO, the most popular , handsome and intelligent guy in her year (and school)with an IQ of 200, but what to do , so do all the other girls in school and on top of that she is placed at the bottom of her grade f class (which is the bottom most grade in school) while he is at the of his class, which is grade A ,the top most grade.hee. AND...that's it. That is the story. No really! Okay, there may be an earthquake, some forced cohabitation hinjinks and some embarrassing (for hani) and funny(for seung jo) ohmygod I did this or that in front of my crush moments in between, but it is the central(and only) conflict of this drama, that she likes him and he doesn't(at least that is what he insisted). but after that it is just about her trying to either impress him or her following (stalking) him around.😵

So, why watch? Hmm, this is a question that is easier to answer when it is asked about a regular drama, but becomes a loaded question when we are talking about one with such cult following, because then you have to be careful with your words, as you have to be honest and also not hurt the fans. This is why I am just going to be matter of fact about it.

I think the best thing about this drama is that you don't have to deal with the nonsense angst that comes in the later episodes of many dramas or the forced separation, basically we are saved from screaming at our leads for being the noble idiot ,( a term coined by dramabeans and refers to those times when one of them becomes unnecessarily noble and leaves/ behaves like a jerk /or does similarly idiotic things to the other for their own good i.e., ya, such noble idiot exist all over the world and in indian serials too.sigh.) and I am always happy to be spared of them, so Yay? I also really liked their production quality, costumes and sets are pretty, the leads are pretty and they have this cute sort of chemistry going for them, JUNG SO MIN nailed hani's character perfectly and i was blown away by her acting and KIM HYUN JOONG's smile and okay he was better here than he was in his previous drama (the infamous Boys over flower) and the show manages to entertain us with Silly but cute scenarios. But if you want to watch something with a plot or story or point, skip this one, I say.

The funny thing is, this is not a drama where the producers just decided to cast a bunch of actors, attach a director and then come up some bullshit one-liner story with all of the drama clichs mixed in , instead this drama had actual source material , the widely popular manga itazurana kiss which had already well received versions different countries and a hugely successful anime version too. So this show became an even bigger disappointment. What went wrong then? I think the way it was scripted. Sadly, The Writer just copied all the events from other versions with no improvisation to fit the audiences tastes and never understood the story the original author tried to tell. it makes cry over the wasted potential of this show and i can only wonder about what could have been...

P.S. i was still hugely entertained by this show and after this drama i have never fallen for a daily soap, which says something about the quality of our shows right?

thanks nikki( i hope that is your name), and even i wish ma boy was longer😭
i tried to search a drama with boys as a cross dresser but came up empty i mean there are dramas where boys cross dressed but they did it only for particular scenes . for eg. jung ill woo dressed as giseng once for return of illjimae..
