I might be wrong, but what we see on American TV are predominantly white heroines.
Of course, there is more diversity in the offing now...so having faces like PC, Scandal's Kerry Washington or Modern Family's Sofia Vergara is a welcome change, I guess. It's certainly a big break for her because let's face it, we don't get to see heroines other than Caucasian ones on American TV.
PC's achievements cannot take away from the achievements of people like Pichai, Nadella and Nooyi. For instance, Indians went berserk when they heard that Pichai has become Google CEO- ask the bemused Wikipedia moderators about the endless editing about the Chennai schools Pichai had studied in :P
It's good that people of Indian origin are making their presence in all fields- be it in science, medicine (Surgeon General Vivek Murthy), technology, or entertainment. And just because it's a TV show, doesn't make her achievement any lesser.
