This 1st shot is from Ruhi's POV. When Toshiji is asking Ishita to apologize to Shagun, and Shagun refuses Ishita to say anything. I've given it a slight twist, where Ishita takes a mini stand, and Ruhi's speaks up for her.

Why does Adi bhaiyya always hurt Ishima? And why do Papa and Dadi also hurt Ishima because of Adi bhaiyya? Is she not as important as him? He always insults her in front of every one, doesn't consider her a part of this family, and nobody tells him anything. Has Shagun mamma not taught him any manners? My Ishima always tells me to behave properly with every one, including Shagun mamma. Can't she (Shagun mamma) teach Adi bhaiyya the same? And why does Papa always think about Adi bhaiyya before Ruhi & Ishima? Does he love him more than he loves me?
Adi bhaiyya & Shagun mamma went to Mihir chachu's house on their own. Ishima didn't ask them to go. Then why is every one shouting on Ishima since yesterday?
There, now Dadi has brought Shagun mamma and Adi bhaiyya back home. Now Papa should be happy. I'm happy if he's happy. But wait, Dadi is asking Ishima to say sorry to Shagun mamma. And why does she want Ishima to say sorry? Ishima says, you should always apologise when you commit a mistake. What mistake has she committed? Or like last time, is every one making her say sorry because Adi bhaiyya asked for this? Papa is standing by the door, with a troubled look in his eyes. He always gets emotional when Ishima is hurt, but when it comes to Adi bhaiyya, he doesn't stop her from getting hurt. What if I ask Papa to not let her apologise? Will he listen to me over Adi bhaiyya's request? No, I should not think like this. Ishima says papa loves me the most, so I have to be his understanding angel.
Shagun mamma stopped Ishima from saying sorry. Thank god! But wait, Ishima is saying something.
"Shagun, as elders, we have to set the right examples in front of our kids. Bade ho ya bachche, maafi maangne mein koi sharam, koi ego nahi hona chahiye. Agar kuch galat kiya ho toh maafi zaroor maangni chahiye. Hai na, mummyji?"
[Shagun, as elders, we have to set the right examples in front of our kids. Whether it's the kids, or us elders, there should be no ego, no hesitation in saying sorry. A person should always apologize if he / she has done something wrong. Right, mummyji?]
She turned towards Dadi, who nodded yes, with tears in her eyes and a slight smile on her face.
"Toh fir theek hai. Main maafi maangne ke liye taiyaar hoon, zaroor maine kuch galat kiya hoga jis se Adi ko itna bura laga. Bas ek cheez mujhe samajh nahi aa rahi ki meri kaun si baat buri lag gayi. Mummyji, please bataiye na mujhe ki meri kya galti hai, taaki main uss exact galti ko dobara kabhi na dohraun."
[Fine, then. I'm ready to apologize, I must have done something severely wrong for Adi to have gotten hurt so badly. But I cannot recollect what wrong did I do. Mummyji, can you please tell me the exact mistake, so that I can avoid it in the future.]
Pin-drop silence. Every one is silent, shocked, liked they never expected Ishima to not understand her mistake because she's so smart. But smart people also sometimes do not understand. Like the other day in school, teacher did not give me 10/10 in spelling, I could not understand why, and I'm very smart. Then she explained because my hand-writing came out very poor with the new pencil and she had a difficult time in understanding the words. If she had not explained what my mistake was, I'd have again scored less than perfect the next time. Then why is every one having a problem explaining Ishima her mistake? Did she not do anything wrong, and yet Adi bhaiyya is asking her to apologise, like the last time? Papa seems to be the most confused, and hurt. Looks like he doesn't want this to happen, but he doesn't know how to stop it either.
"Aapne meri mom se rudely baat ki, aur unhe bohot zyada hurt kiya, isiliye aapko unhe sorry bolna chahiye. Aap unse aise baat nahi kar sakte", said Adi bhaiyya, with dark eyes and an angry face.
[You talked rudely with my mom and hurt her. That is why you should say sorry. You cannot talk to her like that.]
"Aap theek keh rahe ho Adi, kisi ko bhi hurt nahi karna chahiye, aur rudely toh kabhi bhi baat nahi karni chahiye. I'm sorry, Shagun, meri vajah se tumhe itna bura laga, ki tumhe ghar se jaana padha."
[You're right, Adi. We should never hurt any one, and should never be rude. I'm sorry Shagun. Because of me, you were so hurt, that you had to leave the house and go.]
Though I know Ishima never speaks rudely, but if she has accepted her mistake, then I know, she must have thought she did something bad. Ishima is always right, she always admits her mistakes. But didn't Adi bhaiyya commit the same mistake right now? Shouldn't someone explain his mistake to him too? I looked at Papa. He seems broken, and has tears in his eyes.
"Adi bhaiyya, ab toh Ishima ne sorry bhi bol diya. Ab toh aap yahin rahoge na, hamare saath?", I ran towards him and asked. Ishima looked at me, and, she looks visibly hurt by my question. Wait Ishima, I'm on your side, just let me finish the conversation with Adi bhaiyya.
[Adi bhaiyya, now that Ishima has said sorry, you will stay here only right? With us?]
"Haan Ruhi, main yahin rahunga ab, sab logon ke saath," he said with a winning smirk.
[Yes Ruhi, I'll stay here only, with every one else.]
"Good. Toh fir jo rule aapne abhi announce kiya, voh aapko bhi follow karna chahiye na?"
[Good. Then you should also follow the rule that you just announced.]
"Kaun sa rule?"
[Which rule?]
"Ki agar koi kisi se rudely baat kare, aur unko hurt kare, toh unko sorry bolna chahiye?"
[That if some one speaks rudely with some one else, and hurts them, the speaker should say sorry.]
"Haan, bolna chahiye."
[Yes, he / she should apologize.]
"Theek hai, toh ab fir aap Ishima ko sorry bolo."

"Kya? Main iss lady ko sorry kyun bolun?", said Adi bhaiyya, more angry than ever. Ruhi, do not get scared. You're in your house, with your Ishima and Papa, and Ishima will never let him hit you.

Shagun mamma seemed shocked for the moment. Maybe she hadn't realized that Ishima is not just my mother, she's so much more, for every one else in this home.
"Main inhe sorry nahi bolunga."

"Shagun mamma, aapne Adi bhaiyya ko zara bhi manners nahi sikhaye kya? Pehle toh unhe pata nahi ki badon se kaise baat karte hain, fir wrong way mein baat karne par voh sorry bhi nahi bolte. Adi bhaiyya, aap kya bad boy ho?"

Ishima looked at Papa once. I followed her gaze, he looked like some body took a bat and hit him on the head. He had silent tears flowing down his face.
She then hugged me tightly and said, "No Roo, kisi ke liye koi rules alag-alag nai hain. Voh kya hain na, Adi bhaiyya abhi angry hain, unhe apni mistake realize nahi hui abhi, but voh meri angel Roo ke bade bhai hain, toh voh bhi good boy hain. Jab unhe mistake realize hogi, voh sorry bol denge, Ok?"
[No Roo, there are no separate rules for you and Adi bhaiyya. The thing is, that Adi bhaiyya is too angry right now, so he hasn't realized his mistake yet. But he's my angel's elder brother, so he has to be a good boy. I'm sure once he realizes his mistake, he'll come and say sorry. Ok?]
With that she scooped me up in her arms, and took me to my room. I could see a slight smile, lots of love and a sense of pride in her eyes. I turned my face to look at Papa. He was crying by now, but had a smile on his face, telling me that I did the right thing. I flashed a huge one back at him, and then one at Ishima, letting both of them know that I'm always with her.

I feel all these issues, this favoring Adi, giving in to all his demands, had to have some impact on Ruhi as well. It just goes on to show that Ishita had imparted so much mental strength to her daughter, that the li'l one not only knew what was right and what was wrong, but could also stand up to every one and not get broken down. Nature vs Nurture.
