NEITHER is Manu, mind you! If you date back to Tanu Weds Manu (first one), Manu says yes to Tanu, ONLY after admiring how hot she is and how out of his league she actually is
they don't even have an exchange of dialog... in his mind he's banging her already lool.
SO is Manu supposed to represent Indian culture?

Yeah i am sure you are not a guy because all desi guys do that. 😆

Well, I tried my best to TWM1 but sorry, neither the Indian punjabi girl was REAL nor the landon ka nathulal was Real.
Poora character hi exchange karna tha. But chalo nathulaal fall in love with nautanki drukard, smoker, loose character, gaon ki curly hair gori...

This hai bhai, itna chutiyapa to dekh liya.. abd aage mann nahi karta. KRK. 😆

ZGH I think is pretty much accurate description of both Indian and Pakistani cultures. Pick the whole setting from Karachi to Mumbai and you wont feel the difference. But Sooraj Bharjatya movies are another era.

I think in recent times Piku and DDD were more accurate depictions of what happens in urban India.

Unfortunately, these desis either want to BLEND in or are very embarrassed with their culture. They think it's cool to be westernised 😕

Nothing but losers I would say.

. I was born and brought up outside my culture, away from extended family, and values all my life. I never had any Desi friends in my school/college as there were none. My first desi friends were the people I became friends with on india-forums. But yet, surprisingly, I'm strictly rooted with my culture and values as I believe they are very important.

Unfortunately, for some people these things aren't important but one day, later in life they will realize they were wrong.

For the first time, I went back home, and the things I saw, I'm actually very proud of myself, my upbringing and my values.

I can never understand "why" this is happening.

I think Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was a pretty accurate depiction of Indian youngsters.

UGH!!! I HATE girls like Kashaf, i faced quite a few of them during my academic years. Don't get me wrong, i like intelligent and empowered girls but most of these types of girls are EXACTLY as rude and Kashaf, perhaps trying to overcome some inferiority complexes just like her.

aisi indian culture se toh bhagvan bachaye

The practice of keeping women under veil was a way to protect their honor in olden times. Sati became most rampant during the time of Invasions by Tughlaq followed by Mughals ect. It was once again a manner of protecting a woman's honor. No way is that a justification, but at least don't spew random gyan without knowing the motive behind certain rituals, however regressive they might have been.
And Dowry (if you have read Chanakya's Arthshastra) was a way to ensure that the woman would always have some kind of financial independence once she was married. Hence, the hindi word for Dowry is 'Stree Dhan'...a woman's wealth.
