The portrayal of women.

The current track is honestly a joke. I honestly think the CV's themselves don't know where the track is going, nor do they care. I for one was hoping for a separation track, which obviously isn't happening. So I thought they'd at least make the current track as realistic and as enjoyable as possible, but somehow they flopped it too.
In a way, they had a good thing going for them, I guess. Yuvraj working with Suhani to get rid of Soumya once and for all, plus it shows the audience the blind trust Yuvraj has in Suhani, which is important for any healthy relationship. I am not saying I enjoy this track, no, but in a way they did foreshadow the kind of relationship Yuvani will end up having, and it's nice to know that Yuvraj will always trust Suhani above others, even above his grandma.

But then, the CV's flopped it with their portrayal of women.

1: Yuvraj's master plan is to show Soumya as being a bad bahu because she can't cook, clean or take care of a freaking pet. Current me if I'm wrong, but I did not know to be a good DIL you had to be a full time working maid, and you had to cater to everyone's whims and desires without giving an ounce of time for yourself. I didn't know being the perfect bahu means to disregard your own self respect and work as a slave for people that have their own hands and legs and can take care of themselves. Okay, fine, I agree that DIL's do need to do a form of work in their houses, of course, it's normal. But I didn't know that they had to carry on the weight of the entire world on their shoulders to be considered as being the perfect DIL.

2: As per the new on location video, Dadi forgives her darling Soumya for her "bad DIL qualities" and decides to divorce Suhani and Yuvraj straight away. Wow. What the CV's are basically saying is "It's okay to be a bad daughter in law, that can't cook to save your life, nor take care of family members, as long as you're pretty and fair." How, in the world are they contradicting themselves like this? On one hand, they're showing the whole world that Soumya is a bad DIL because she doesn't have those qualities, yet, they're saying it's okay because she is pretty and fair.

It seems to me then what the CV's think of women:

Through Suhani they're saying: If you're dark, and supposedly ugly, then the only way to redeem yourself is to become a slave and personal maid for your in laws, to show them that you're above all those other pretty girls and that you're worth being their DIL.

Through Soumya they're saying: However, if you're fair and pretty, then no need to worry. You don't need to do household chores or work a day in your life, because you're fair and pretty and that's enough to be an amazing daughter in law.

I agree with your post, and, in addition, please note it doesn't say much for the guy either, being a puppet on a string.
If at some point they clarify that yuvraj was just using the 'good bahu' qualities to make some pathetic point and his feelings for Suhani , IF he ever shows them fully, are for more than her looking after him and that mausoleum, for her qualities apart from that, I may forgive this.

Oh my god, I absolutely agree (esp. what I've underlined)!! Thank you so much for making this post. This current track is making me feel so uncomfortable. They are essentially showing that Suhani is a better bahu because she can make bomb "dahi bare" and take care of pets/lunch/dinner/poojas without tiring.

Instead of pointing out that Suhani has her own self-worth apart from being able to do all the household chores perfectly, they are saying that she is worthy *because* she can do those chores perfectly. It is so wrong. The feminist in me just can't handle this injustice anymore. We should all have the same level of self-worth, regardless of how we look and what we can and cannot do.

I'd also like to add that the show is purporting that if you are not beautiful, you are going to have to work and be obedient/subservient to make yourself likable. I really, really resent that, especially since I personally look more like Suhani, yet act more like Soumya 😆 (can't do anything right and I'm somewhat entitled). Yeah, I know that the show doesn't claim that Soumya can get away with it, but in an alternate universe, she could be right (like if Yuvraj really did want Soumya after all's been said and done).

The feminist in me is what made me write this post. It's so aggravating to me how they're wasting away what they could do with this show. They could show through Suhani that it is completely alright to be dark skinned and you don't have to please any one because of your skin colour. Yet they're doing the exact opposite, they're making Suhani act like a maid as a way to redeem herself in front of Dadi for not living up to her beauty standards.

Honestly, what they're doing is just spreading negativity through the guise of entertainment and drama. How cheap.

I agree though I'm enjoying SoDa war but according to new spoiler Yuvraaj'a plan will be a flop terribly. I don't like that idea of judging a girl through her dressing sense and household skills. I don't wear traditional dress that much and don't know anything about cooking but I don't have a filthy heart like Soumya. I don't know why they are doing so and also stopped looking for answers coz writers will not give us the kind of track we want. So its useless to be sad. Its their show and they want to ruin it. We tried through our tweets and messages but all went in vain. Some loyal viewers have stopped watching SSEL. But they do not bother at all. So for writers 'Do whatever you want, we've warned you several times'.

I have honestly stopped expecting anything great from the cvs anymore. They obviously don't know what to do with their own show, so I'll just keep watching and see how long it will take them before they lose more viewers.

Awesome post dear... Loved it...
👏 👏
What Cvs are trying to show is a perfect wife is a house wife.. Who doesn't any desire wishes and dreams of her own... She is the one who has to wear traditional clothes. Stay in kitchen all the time.. Don't have any plans about her career.. What a small thought... Sad...
They are doing all that to satisfy TRP aunties and make them happy...
I would say better don't keep any expectations from CVs.. After reading their definition of true love and perfect wife..it's better not to keep any...

@lovefromEngland I agree with many points you made. Especially about the mentality of the CVs. I don't know why, but most Indian serials show wives getting tortured at in laws for years and fans would be happy as long as they get eye lock or dupatta scenes to satisfy their appetite for romance. In my case I have stopped watching this show, but visit the forum every now and then I don't know what is really happening right now.
However, this serial takes the cake. Here there is what so ever no respect for woman. Which shows that either the show is a brain child of someone who is unethical, never went to school, from underprivileged back ground, was never taught any morals, not knowing right from wrong, inhuman etc. Some how that person got a deal with Starplus taking this show. Star Plus has reputation of this kind of dramas, but this one is below the belt kind of a thing. It shows disgusting things. If there is a thing like A1 I would consider this show like Zlast. This show is not for woman who have self respect, education, humanity, values, morals and most of all life😊.

@bold you are completely right! That's why the cvs call us "greedy yuvani fans" because they seem to think our displeasure at the current track is due to us not getting romantic scenes between yuvraj and suhani. but what they don't seem to understand is, it's their portrayal of women amidst other things thats making fans displeased with their show.

I think CVs are trying to show how Suhani has more sense of responsibilities than Soumya but it came of as sexist. For example, if you are responsible for organizing a puja, then do it properly not half-ass, think about everything a-z; not only the parts you like. However, they failed to show it properly and concentrated on cooking as usual. Same thing with Snoopy, having a pet is a responsibility. I have a cat and trust me if snaky lost him, I would have found him first, then strangle her and then kissed my kitten a thousand times. But again, CVs couldn't potray it nicely. Instead of putting emphasis on qualities like responsibilities, maturity, honesty and being good heart; they always come back on household chores and try to show how knowing doing chores equals to being a reliable person. Plus birlas have really low standard. so who knows, in their world knowing how to cook is considered as knowing how to drive a spaceship. Just saying!
Sorry if I bored you. I am usually a silent reader, but couldn't help commenting.
