As per my readings of history Akbar was a womanizer who would want any woman he desire at any cost after all he was emperor. Its only in late 30s that he reduced his womanizing ways but he married till his late 50s whether political or otherwise.
I do not consider Akbar an lover boy like an Baz Bahadur, a Jehangir or even Shah Jahan till Mumtaz died
Regarding MUZ, she got prominence because of two matters one she was his first hindu wife and she gave him a heir Salim. Otherwise Akbar had close relations with Jodhpur royal family too where he married Rukmavati and Jodha was married to Salim etc. Both Salim and Shah jahan were close to Jhodpur royals than ameris. So we cannot say he only was close to ameri's.
Regarding Salim what I feel is he was not so stupid and dumb as shown here, he was a good strategist going by how he suppressed revolts against him by his own son and others in initial years of his kingship. But he was not ambitious as Akbar- he was not really interested in conquering and expanding his kingdom.
Salim was more interested in building gardens, dispensing justice and just maintaining whatever kingdom he had. There are two reasons for this one may be he went to war field at an young age, by 12 he had commanded independently so by 43-44 years he already was battle experience of 35 years+ so he had enough of battles and administration and delegated it to nur jahan and khurram. Second reason was his family issues, his sons revolts and his health had taken a toll because of his drinking so may be he wanted to spend last few years of his life doing what he always interested in that is to be in company of plants and animals and painting etc which was what he was really interested in truly. This is what I have read and what I feel about these personalities.

N now I will b asked why keep the name of historical characters. The answer is that accept the fact that this is a show made fr the Indian audience. N barring few sections majority don't care about 100 percent history. The majority of trp audience that is. They don't know n neither do they care. They all watch fr entertainment n don't sit to scrutinise the show. N coming to history even badayuni who is a critic of akbar said that she had influence on akbar so much so he called akbar kaafir who is lost in her beauty. So I refuse to believe that the real MuZ had no influence on akbar. She was given a high position after akbar saw her capability. Even given trade. Now that's history. Early shiya influence mayb but still at the end of the day they were Muslims n in such an environment when Hindus were treated poorly there had to b another influence. In the akbarnama the marriage with MuZ has been discussed in most detail as well. Do I request plzz watch as a show. Fr entertainment. It's just less that 1% of the Indian trp audirnce watch n care fr 100 percent history. She may not b the only one to influence him but she did influence him n that's why he held her in high regard.

i get your point but when i said about distorting history, what i was trying to say is there is a limit to distortion. i am not saying they should follow history 100% but twisting around major points in history is ridiculous. they should atleast try to follow 60 -70 % but here they are changing the very essence of the major achievements by akbar. distorting basic foundation of an achievement or an event is what i am against. i take your point on MUZ so far badayuni is concerned, i can never be on a same page with him when it comes to his views on akbar because for me akbar's administrative capabilities and his treatment towards his people was what made him unique and one of the greatest kings ever. so far shiya muslims are concerned, despite of them being muslims the treatment towards them and hindus were almost similar because they were not considered true muslims by sunnis. the marriage with MUZ is emphasized because it was marriage between a mughal and hindu and something like that had never happened before and also the political reasons that were involved. sure she might have influenced him but the way this show is showing it, it looks like jodha is the only one who has had ideas about reforms and akbar simply follows the ideas if he agrees to it (which is most times). it gets hard to say who is the ruling the throne considering jodha is not formally involved in making decisions on all the political matters like akbar is. there is a difference between consulting and influencing and show shows that jodha influences jalal to make reforms on several matters and jalal is not capable to do that himself without jodha's influence which is ridiculous coz till that movie jodha akbar came, the name jodha did not even get a single mention every time akbar was ever discussed anywhere. MUZ might have had an influence on akbar or akbar might have given her special attention because she was the mother of a future king and also she was good at certain administrative work. but her being mother of his heir might have played an important role in the amount of importance she received.
