I am not defending him .. but I think this is something that he or no one else would have imagined. Raman gave her a paper. She agrees to the terms gets back with two copies, and the one she gives to the lawyer is assumed to be a photo copy. The lawyer goes throw the clause and approves, Raman signs it. In such cases the lawyers guidance and approval is taken, and when they're giving a nod the client does not find reason to go over the papers again. Which is what Raman did.

YES it's his fault that he trusted Shagun not to play another trick, but who would imagine she'd trade Ruhi for Adi. A girl she does not love or care about and abandoned when she was 6 months old. Shagun agreeing for money is more likely.

But yes, considering the revelation after which she was thrown out of the house, he should have been more careful with her and also should not have hidden matters from his wife. There's a lesson in this track not just for him, but even for the family although for different reasons.
