I dont know whether, his motive behind his challenge to her is to make her strong enough to not fall for manipulations, but sure she will learn the lesson from him.

be able to understand when to trust the person n when not...

You are absolutely right! It's exactly what I thought after seeing the precap on Friday manik knows nandu only learns through challenges! Just as the time of the inter music event in their break time nandu told him she had no hopes of winning and he sensed her fighting spirit was down so what did he do? He challenged her he brought back the monster facade and said everything which he knew she would not like to hear and once he did that our sherni nandu was back telling him that they would win the contest! So In the exact same way today manik gave her back the fighting spirit to fight for them both because just as her, he wants her hope to win this battle also.
