There's nothing wrong with the ad, except for the use of the word "whitening". If you watch ads in other countries or even in the US, they usualy say "evens out skin tone" or "brightens" or "more radiance" or "better glow". They don't use fair and whitening b/c it means the same thing.
I think in a country where there's already a negative beauty perception for darker toned girls, celebs (men and women) should come together and ban it. They obviously have enough money and can find a source of income from other endorsements. All of them (SRK, kareena, Deepika, Katrina,PC, Saif etc) shouldn't be promoting this idea of "white" and "fair" skin is more beautiful and leads to success/popularity/finding a boyfriend.
That being said, if you follow Katrina at all, she really does believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes; however, it's disappointing to me that she would endorse this. She has the power to say no, and I think she's obviously doing it for the money. Same applies to Deepika. At the end of the day, they're both are being hypocrites b/c they BOTH endorse them.
