I was never very fond of Gautam and also felt that he was arrogant and hypocritical. But todays show showed him reaching new lows. One I would not have expected from a modern and hopefully educated Bollywood actor who stays in Mumbai.
In the show while he is talking to Rahul going on about how Karishma overdid the phonecall (something I agree with BTW, even though I think KT is usually right, she did go overboard in vilifying Rahul).
Then Gautam makes the stupidest and the most MCP (male chauvinistic pig) statement he can make. "Ladko se ho jata hai. Flirt hi toh kar raha tha"
He goes on to reinforce his point by saying something along the lines ki agar ladke nahi karenge toh kaun karega and jaan loge kya uski.
I don't know how many people remember Mulayam Singh Yadav saying the same thing about rapes. Ladke hain, ho jata hai.
I appreciate the difference between rape and flirting. But once you start giving excuses like 'ladka hai' you are on a slippery slope. It's not a long step from, 'ladka hai, flirt toh karega hi', to 'ladka hai, zabardasti kiss hi toh kara, rape thodi kara', to 'ladka hai, galti ho jati hai'.
This is expected from politicians, but from educated Bollywood actors. And that too someone who claims to be as righteous as Gautam Gulati...wow. It really shows his mentality more clearly than ever seen on this show.
