The actor, who replaced Neetha Shetty in the show, was mistaken for her body double
Aleeza, who recently entered 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (Zee) as Gauri, faced some teething problems during her first few days on the sets. Aleeza had replaced actor Neetha Shetty in the show. Not all members of the unit were aware of this development. Hence, Aleeza didn't have a ceremonial welcome.
A source says, "No one knew that the girl (Aleeza) was an actor and that she would be playing the role of Gauri. Although she has acted in 'Mamta' (Zee) Aleeza is not widely known in the industry." Apparently, some unit members mistook her for Neetha's body double and ignored her.
When asked, Aleeza admitted to the situation. She says, "I was not formally introduced to the unit members. I didn't know anyone from the unit. Moreover, I was given a curly haired-wig to look like Neetha. My natural hair is straight. So people mistook me for her body double."
The fact that the unit members didn't recognise her didn't hurt her so much as the fact that even the cameraman kept her out of the frame thinking she was a duplicate. Aleeza recalls, "I could make out that he was cutting me out from the screen. He was giving instructions to everybody as to how to pose except me. I was really upset."
Director Rajan Shahi admitted that Neetha was indeed mistaken to be a body duplicate. "I was wondering why our cameraman wasn't taking Aleeza in the frame. When I reprimanded him for that, he had said, 'How can we focus on the dupe?" It was then that the confusion was sorted out.
