We have a pyromaniac and an arsonist on the show - Shlok and Niranjan.😛
Shlok always makes controlled fires, like burning something in a trash can or starting a sacred fire in a temple or making a bonfire to keep them warm etc. Sometimes we also see bonfires in the background in Ashlok scenes, that are not actually made by either of them.
In India, we make bonfires during Lohri/Bhogi and Holi. These fires usually symbolize burning the old / bad and making room for new / good. It means that you are inviting a positive change into your life. A sacred fire in a temple is for cleansing and purification of the mind and soul. We burn our vices in the sacred fire as we put various offerings into it.
So whenever Shlok put a fire, he burned his negative feelings and invited a positive change. It applies for Aastha also. There had been scenes where there were pre-lit bonfires in Ashlok scenes. These pre-lit controlled fires may mean that destiny is playing a role in bringing about a change in their lives. So basically these controlled fires mean change, usually a positive one.

Niranjan, on the other hand, always makes uncontrolled fires. These wildfires symbolize out-of-control emotions and ambitions, which result in destruction of relationships. Recently he set fire to his own study and almost got killed. I believe that the office fire accident during the first separation, in which Shlok and Aastha almost got killed was also his plan.
