I am an ardent Akbar fan, and I mean no disrespect to the view points expressed here, but I think we are digressing a bit... Jalal like all leaders would not have ruled over Hindustan by fighting all the wars himself, he would have his generals execute his commands and follow through on this orders. Agreed he was undefeated and was never captured, agreed that he was brave and an excellent strategist, agreed he was the shrewdest politician and kindest of rulers, but to be all of these he had an army of supporters, well wishes and loyalists. Can any one honestly say that Jalal was never injured in a war , can we claim that in any of the numerous battles he fought he was never saved by another brave loyalist from being captured( and I am not referring to begums or Jo in particular). Realistically, anyone would have had to defeat an army of soldiers and generals before coming close to Shahensha himself. And depiction of this fact would not have been a NR at all, it would have been the truth. As audience we would have been OK had EK and CVs shown Jalal being saved by TM or Adgah, but we just cannot digest the NR of Jalal being saved by his begum!Having said this even I agree that showing Jalal falling to Shenu AM trap is an insult to him , am not sure we have seen the entire side of the story and am hoping Jalal twists this to his benefit. But to say that Jalal being saved by his begum would be insulting to Akbar is not appropriate either.Somehow I feel in our search for portrayal that perfect Jalal we want to see him as a demi god, without factoring in the contributions others had in his success

Every human being has good and bad points. As you mentioned above, Akbar did all of the above. But, he is also the one who banned the Gutenberg Press. That measure put back scientific research in India by decades, maybe even a century. Akbar was a great liberal as we all know, but he is the one who banned the marriage of Mughal princesses. Can any measure be more cruel?A human being is complex, one cannot make generalizations. The same man is capable of both incredibly bravery and cowardice, of great insight and foolishness, of total lack of empathy and too much emotion.

I second your views, wonderfully said. I myself came to this forum because of my great appreciation of Akbar, after all how many men do you think come to this forum. I swallow the embarrassment of being the only male in this forum on occasions(when Abhay is not here). Why? Because I gobble up anything on Akbar. But, even I have been surprised at the Akbar Bhakti in this forum, I am a novice in front of these people in their appreciation of Akbar.Nowadays, I am no longer pleased at this admiration we share, this fanaticism is getting on my nerves. I like to come to this forum to share some pleasant thoughts, and I get bombarded by fresh news that the God Akbar has been desecrated. Some people are not willing to accept that Akbar was a human being who made many foolish mistakes in his life interspersed by periods of brilliance.

Hi Donjas,If you are a man and I admire you enjoy such shows.Else men I know think TV is meant for football ,cricket and hollywood films.
Unfortunately, I am not an exception, I watch this show only because of Akbar. I will consume anything that has Akbar in it. I am yet to develop a taste for any other hindi program. Like almost everyone these days, I too am a football fanatic and yes I like big budget Hollywood movies.
