Going through a writer's block! Please bear with my horrible vocabulary in this one. I promise to give a better wala ahead. :(
++++Aaj Jaaney ki zidd naa karro++++
She graced herself with the bright red lehenga with black borders that she had chosen herself for her wedding. Her hair was pinned to one side, letting out a soft gleam from the jhumka that dangled from her ear. She fixed the position of the bindi that adorned her forehead and managed a broken smile.
"Sanyu, jaldi kar beta! Woh log aaney hi walein hain"
She heard someone scream at her while running across the corridor.
She sat there in front of the mirror. No doubt, she looked beautiful. The kohl that graced her eye-line sure did make her eyes look alluring, though she had to put a lot of effort in preventing them from smearing her face. For, it was not easy for her to control the threatening tears.
Her hands made their way through the bangles and dangled beautifully from her wrists, chiming a jingle.
"I must say, I'm impressed"
Him. Again, over time, its him. The familiar sarcastic tone laboring to cover up the hurt that those words bore. For, it had to be. He had to be.
Always and through.
She didn't react. Neither did she reply. She just picked up the other set of bangles and slid them down her wrists.
He jumped down and landed on the floor from her window.
"Sagai mein invite nahin kiya?"
Believe or not, he did try to flash his signature smirk. He did try to sound nonchalant. But he wasn't quite sure if he was able to hide the discernible mayhem that chimed inside him- of which he wasn't very proud.
A voice followed the knock they heard on her door. "Aur kitni der lagayegi? Jaldi kar!"
Sanyukta stood up and paced towards the door. Because, she was getting late and she definitely didn't want to miss this one opportunity to satisfy her parents.
But, also because she wanted him to stop her. She craved for him to swing her around and crash her into his masculine chest.
And he did. He held his hand out and caught her by her wrist, tugging. That made her draw two steps back.
Well, talk of self control. She self-begged to be permitted to run into him and remain there for as long as she could. But, she didn't.
She wriggled her wrists under the wrapping of his strong fingers, in vain though.
"Let me go", she let out.
"Answer me", he was stubborn too.
Dealing with obdurate hearts. What was god thinking?
It took her a few more seconds of obstinate but vain effort from her side before she finally gave in. She refrained from trying to get away from him; trying to get away from herself.
No sooner that he sensed that she gave up, he swung her around and pulled her into his chest. She collided into him.
"Tum toh waise bhi aaney walein thhey" her dismal but confident voice came up, as her hands crawled up to his chest where she rested her head.
He was a bit surprised but not bowled over. He knew how this 'jumping into her room through the window' wouldn't surprise her at all.
A honking of a car was heard from downstairs. The sound was loud enough, but almost went unheard to Sanyukta, who was concentrating on the monotonous rhythm of his heart beats.
"Main toot jaunga" he gave in too.
She crumbled the cloth of his shirt under her palms.
"Sanyu beta wo log aa gaye. Jaldi aa! Kya kar rahi hain.."
A voice trailed off.
His grip tightened around her.
"Please", he croaked.
She kept mum, though the tears that smeared the kohl all over her face, making all her efforts futile, assured Randhir he'll have her around for a few more minutes, maybe.
"Kal ki kisko khabar jaan-e-jaan,
Rukklo aaj ki raat ko"
Evermore,
Rini.
