Chap two- The Impatient Man...

Few days later,

If Khushi didn't like any of her parent's decision, it was the marriage. Not her marriage, her Jiji's marriage. She was watching with frustration when her Jiji was trying to call Abhishek, her hone wale Jijaji. He never cared for her Jiji, had not even made an initiative to spend time with her. Of course, he lived in Mumbai, but at least can call her or skype her or contact her any other way, but no. Her parents were open-minded people who let their daughters live an independent life. Values, rituals, badon ko izzat dena, etc... mattered to Payal more than Khushi. When the proposal from the Singhania family had come, their father liked the dulha very much and that was enough for Payal to say yes. But Khushi was never happy with the proposal at all. She tried to convince her brother, Buaji's son, NK the same, but to her vain, even NK didn't believe her.

"I think Abhishek is busy now. I'll call him later." Payal said in a small voice.

" Jiji, if you don't want to marry him, then don't. Even he is not eagerly waiting for this wedding."

"Khushi, we've already spoken about this. Papa likes him."

"But he doesn't like you. Moreover Papa is not going to marry him."

"Khushi, end of the topic." Payal said in a furious tone that Khushi felt it was better to shut her mouth. Though Payal won in making Khushi quite, she herself couldn't help but feel that she was right. But her parents always think of her good, so she knew their decisions could never be wrong. Many had told her that she was supposed to be born in the 19^th centaury, but she does not give a damn about it.

Aakash went inside his exam hall praying to the almighty. That was his last exam and he was leaving India that night in Jet Airways. He didn't have any problem, except that his Di, Nani and his mom would start hunting for a suitable bride right after his brother's marriage. He wanted to feel love in his life, before the saat phere bandhan.

Arnav was extremely frustrated to see his Di talking to Khushi via phone for almost an hour while he hadn't heard her voice after their first mulaqaat. But the rest of the family had seen her twice, including his niece. He saw his Jijaji who was seeing him with sympathy. He stormed off the room with loud stomps.

"Mom, mom..." Three-year-old Alka yelled at mother.

"Alka beta, Mom is busy talking to mami, so tell me what you want..." Shyam gently took his daughter outside. After Anjali finished talking,

"Nani, Chottey was so furious that he didn't realize I was talking to Garima aunty not Khushi."

"Sasuma, I think Arnav bitwa is gonna break the ruljzz. Look, he ijz despo" Manorama said with giggles.

"Hum bhi jiddi hain. Sagaai se pehle, Dulha aur Dulhan ek doosre se akele na milenge aur na baat karenge." Nani said with a smile.

Next day,

"Haan Papa, I went to factory today and everything is on the line. So be tension free. OK, bye." She cut the call and started her car. After passing many signals, her car stopped without any notice. She was clueless about what to do next. Arnavji's office is nearby, I'll go to him maybe. She remembered Nani's rule just before entering his office, totally unaware of the pair of honey brown eyes staring at her.

Few minutes ago,

"What yaar Aman? Didn't I tell you to make little changes in the presentation before presenting it?" Arnav gritted his teeth and told Aman to go. He went near the window and was happy he did that because he saw Khushi standing there hesitating.

Present,

Arnav ran downstairs and then started walking casually making it seem that he intended to go downstairs. Seeing Arnav, Khushi immediately turned the other side.

"Hi, Khushi?" Arnav pretended to be surprised.

"Hi Arnavji. Actually, my car got repaired on the way to home, so I thought of coming to you. But Naniji's..."

"Oh, did you call the mechanic? (Khushi shakes her head) No worries, I'll call him. And as far as Nani is concerned, I'm sure she won't mind emergencies and we aren't technically alone you know. We have the Watchman with us." Arnav gave a smile to the Watchman who had a minor heart attack. Arnav excused himself and made two phone calls, one to the mechanic and one to his Di. He explained the situation and his plan to his Di and asked her permission, and was elated to know that the permission was granted.

"I called the mechanic; he'll take care of your car. Do you have any plans for lunch today?"

"No, but..."

"Actually, I planned on giving Alka a surprise. Wanna join?" He asked expectantly.

"Surprise?"

"I'm taking her out for lunch. She'll be happy if you join."

"Sure. But we can't go to pick her together Arnavji. Why don't give me your car keys? I'll go pick her and then we'll go out together?"

"Ya, here you go..." For the first time in his life, he gave his Range Rover's keys to anyone, but Khushi wasn't anyone, was she?

An hour later,

"It doesn't take soo long to and fro from here to Alka's play school..." He murmured as he was waiting impatiently. He was relived to see his niece running to him with a broad smile.

"Mamu, Mami bought me soo many dolls and chocolates and pastries. Come fast, Mami is waiting in the car..." Said Alka as she pulled her Mamu.

Arnav's jaw touched the ground seeing the back seat filled with bags.

"Khushi, Di won't appreciate this."

"But Arnavji, can't Alka's Mami get her at least this much?"

The lunch date went smoothly and Arnav felt Alka deserved more than what Khushi did, and much to Anjali's disapproval, he took her to shopping.

Well Arnav look a very impatient man. He is ASR he doesn't need any one permission to talk to his soon to be wife but it's surprising that he is following the traditions.

He is changing and I think he is liking Khushi a lot. He handed his car to her, that's amazing and another surprising change in him. He shared his dearest car with Khushi, that's a great news.

Anjali and the family don't leave a chance to tease their chotte. His family is very sweet.

Alka is already the no. one fan of her mami. She is adorable.

So next wedding celebration is sagai.
