She was standing in a room staring at her wedding card, oh sorry, their wedding card. Her soft and thin fingers were lingering over the name encrypted on it-
"You are welcomed to the wedding ceremony of Mr.Reyaansh Singhania and Ms.Kria Ghai on 20th December, 2013"
... Approximately they were married for 5 months but were together since 7 years, 7 years of blissful happiness, she thought and a smile ran over her face. She kept the wedding card back on the shelf and got back to her work.
A few minutes later, he returned. Wearing an Armani black suit, loosened dark blue tie, and a few files on his hands, he saw her sitting by the table and typing something on her laptop. She wore a light blue and pink salwaar-kameez and her hair was tied up in a loose bun. He threw the files on the bed and threw opened his tie and jacket. He went towards her and kissed her hair. "Reyaansh" she said, with a huge smile on her face and got up to hug him. They broke the hug and she placed her hands on his shoulder while he rested his palms on her back.
"So how was your board meeting, Rey?" she asked, straightening the collar of his light blue shirt.
"It was pretty good; dad was impressed by my presentation. Guess the Singhania's have cracked the deal. And how is the Reserve Bank of India treating my wife?"
"Horribly." She said with a gloomy face. "I have a lot of paper work to do, check so many files and to please my burden, the cook's on leave and I have to prepare dinner too", she said it with a pout.
"So let's reduce your burden and go to a restaurant", he suggested moving his hands on her back.
"And who'll do the work? The waiter? No need. I'll prepare something light and finish my work too" she said it with a vague smile.
"If you're ok with it, I have no issues, but don't you want to congratulate me for my successful meeting?" he said it with a smirk and pulled her even closer.
She knew what he wanted and it would have been a stress relieving kiss for her too. She went a step more towards him and took his lips into hers and kissed him. He drew her even closer leaving no gap between them, not even a millimeter of it and dominated her tongue by his lips. She pulled herself back due to the shortage of oxygen and while panting she said ,"You should be careful, you almost bit my tongue" and leaned on him to kiss him again , this time, a mild one.
They broke the kiss and hugged each other and she whispered "Congratulations my hero" in his ears and got back to work. She started typing some figures which went over the Engg. Reyaansh Singhania. He went to change and came back wearing his track pants and a loose black vest which showed off his muscles.
"Okay so commercialist, you keep typing crap while I'll go and watch TV" , he said , leaving the room while she threw a pencil at him , offended by the word "crap" , shouting "Its not crap Mr. Engineer and byee"...
After three hours and a million of phone calls, Kria had finished her work finally. It was 10 PM and when she remembered that she still had to cook something for the two of them. Cooking was something she hated ever since she saw the kitchen. That gas stove, ingredients, mixing stuff, and if someone doesn't like it , your entire hard work goes down the drain. But she had no choice left because her engineer husband didn't even how to cook an omelet; preparing dinner for two was something impossible which couldn't be even turned in the i-am-possible way. She sighed at her bad luck , gave one or two abusive words to the cook in her mind , realized her mistake and said sorry too, tightened her hair bun and went down to cook something.
She went down the stairs and passed the TV room and couldn't hear even a single word, she guessed that he must have slept waiting for the dinner, she opened the room but there was no one. She called for him but still no answer, she checked the washroom but that was empty too.
She went down to the living room and the study but that was empty too, even his gaming room was empty and his phone was still in their bedroom. So where was he? She stood there with her hand on her hips and wondered when she heard a weird sound from the kitchen. She ran towards it and saw Reyaansh standing there with a confused and scared look He had dropped everything he had made for them which included her favorite white sauce pasta, her favorite ice tea and their favorite desert. She ran towards him and so the mess he had created with wide eyes and looked back at him with a straight face. He looked at her still confused and scared. He knew that she would now blow her tank off at him. She hated the kitchen anyways and now she had to clean this as well and cook something all over again. He opened his mouth to utter some words of apology when he saw her laughing open-heartedly. He didn't see that blissful scene for almost a week now, he knew that she was under a lot of pressure due to professional work and this entire house burden to top it, but this laugh, well he could have done that every mess to get that laugh.
She was laughing like she never did. Seeing her engineer husband struggling with pasta, ice tea and ice-cream couldn't stop her from laughing. She remembered how during the initial days of their relationship, he tried to impress her by making her favorite sandwiches and failed miserably and promised never to enter a kitchen ever again. But today he did that. Just for her. This was definitely not the first time he had done something for her in the past seven years, but this was definitely something she would remember for the rest of her life.
"Okay, Kria, now stop laughing please", he said that with a pout although he could see her laughing all night.
"Okay Okay", she finally stopped laughing but she was still giggling at his expression. He removed the messed apron and helped her cleaning the mess and throwing his hard work.
"See this is what happens, you put in so much of hard work and now the garbage bin will taste it", she said giving him a pat on his back and indicating him to not touch the broken glass pieces.
"But you did my effort, didn't you?" and he went near her while she was trying to pick up the pasta from the floor and squatted down.
"I did, I love everything you do but I couldn't taste your hard work." She said it with a sad look.
"But there is still some of it left over."
"Is it? Where?" She got up like a little kid and pulled him up too. "Here", he showed his lips as the pasta had made a huge jump before falling on the floor like an unsuccessful missile and a little touched his lips too. She quickly moved and pecked his lips tasting every ounce of the pasta tasting lips. "It's yummy", she said. "I know, your hero is a multi-tasker", he said with a proud feeling on his face. "Ya right", she said signaling to the bin full of food and hit his head playfully.
"Okay let's order something. Pizza?" she enquired and he agreed with a nod.
They were sitting in the TV room watching her favorite animated series, "Family Guy" and waiting for their dinner. She was busy laughing watching the show and he was busy cuddling her. That was exactly they did when they watched TV together. The bell rang after a few minutes and their favorite pizza and drink was right there. He got it up in the TV room and placed in front of her and next, sat next to her. He grabbed her slice of pizza and started eating it when he noticed that she didn't pick any.
"Take it. Aren't you hungry?", he said hungrily eating every bit of the pizza.
"I am hungry but I want to have it the way we had our first ever pizza", she said smilingly and a nostalgic smile spread on his face. He picked another slice of pizza, placed in between their lips, they both started eating it from the two ends and when it got finished, they kissed. Repeated it thrice. That was the way the Singhania couple had their pizza. The finished their drink and went back to their bedroom to make some love.
