Plus, not all people wil talk back to creative heads. If they do, then they will be labeled as stubborn and big headed. I know how these talent shows work from someone I knows experience. You don't dare talk back

I concur. It is clear that all this was done for purely TRPs. Zee is not leaving any stones untouched in the absence of Gajendra Singh.

The creatives and MDs probably suggest the dresses and songs, and the contestants agree. They're usually meek kids who prefer not to argue, and go along with the experienced people, believing that they would know better.

However, no contestant can be made to wear anything or sing anything against their will. Ultimately the final decision rests with the contestants, and they should take responsibility if things go wrong. But instead, they start blaming the creatives and MDs.

in this case, if the show officials suggested the kind of costumes the participants could wear, then there's an obligation on their part to ensure that those are indeed acceptable for presentation. same thing for song selection also. if the show directors dont know better, then should the kids really be held responsible?

which is why if you notice, even society has different laws for kids and adults. adults are supposed to know more😉

Couldnt agree more... there was nothing in this week's singing to discuss.. Zee knows it very very well.. so all the HR and Asha drama to get the audience attention... Most of the target audience of these shows anyways are carried away more by emotions than by quality of singing.. So it totally serves the channel's purpose...

As for the contestants succumbing to channel pressure.. well most of them have come from small towns with big dreams in their eyes.. They know that if they have to make it big, they have to compromise on a lot of values.. thats a fact, whether they or we like it or not! Channel will do anything to increase their TRP, and with the choice of singers they have got this time - they know they cant do it with music!

I have only one to say - most of the 'kids' here are over 18 and aren't kids any more. They are adults and are responsible for their own selves, under the same social laws you mention.

I agree with Shady, In Challenge 2005, while Himani and others wore modern outfits, Nihira always wore clothes which would cover her from top to bottom. So although Zee team may give suggestions, the final decision is with the contestant.

Its their word against the directors and producers words.
I wonder if they're even allowed to pick their own dresses. Or if there is someone who chooses that for them as well.

nope, they probably aren't allowed to pick their own dresses but no one shud be forced to wear anything he/she doesn't want to...
