Disclaimer 1- Just because I'm sharing my views on the show doesnt mean Im telling the writers what they should do. Im sharing my feedback, that's all.

Disclaimer 2-
Those who come here to tell me, Dekhna hai to Dekho, my response it Padna hai tho Pado. Compulsion nahin hai.

Otherwise feel free to debate, oppose my point as long as you dont go down the route of abusing me, cast or the crew. I dont take lightly to namecalling.

What was Rangrasiya promoted as?

'Rangrasiya', is is about a girl who believes in love and how her path crosses with a man who doesn't believe in it.

Whereas how has the show actually progressed (as I see it)?

'Rangrasiya', is is about a man who doesn't believe in love. It is a story of his life, his betrayal at the hands of his mother, his anguish at the loss of his job, hi pains from a broken family and childhhod.

Is anything wrong in showing the journey of a man?

Absolutely not. Then just position the show as a story of a man and his gradual journey into love.

Are there any pitfalls in showing the story of a man?
Absolutely not. But the TRP audience relate better when the story is said from the perspective of a woman. So if you want this to be Rudra's story it is futile to expect it to do well in the TRP charts.

What about the love story?
Most Indian shows work well when it is targeted towards women. love stories do just about okay and that too only when it is a love story between a man and a woman not between a man and his past, his pain and his journey.

Here is my take. The ratings wont improve unless there is a marked difference in the way story is being told. Last week there was a wedding. What should have been the case of increase in ratings actually led to drop in the same.

Why?
Simply because Paro was just a prop in the wedding who cried, fainted and then suddenly smiled. Where was her story, where are her reactions? All we saw was how Rudra forced his way into a wedding. Replace Paro with Maithali, it would have made zilch difference.

Anyhow this is strictly my opinion, a love story should emphasise on the stories of the male and female leads, just not on the male lead always. Paro's character progression has taken a back seat.

If this story is about Rudra and Rudra alone, just make it clear to the audience, because a love story... this definitely is not. And if this is meant to be based on Rudra's perspective then I hope the channel backs it completely because it is going to be difficult to get good ratings for a show that is told from a man's perspective.

Having said that, I still hold to my opinion that this is by far one of the better shows on the television currently. Its sad how the show is struggling to garner higher ratings.

Edited to add- Contrary to the opinion of this forum many arent able to empathise with Rudra's character. Its nothing to take away from ashish's acting which I actually think is awesome, but in the last month his overbearing presence in every episode gave me a headache and so did the character's regular break-downs.

Well said !

Before I say anything I just want to say that I love the show and I'm loving the tracks, the flow of the story and the downright unpredictability of it. Haven't seen a fresh show like this in a while.

However, I agree with you that even though Rudra's story/perspective is interesting and a first as male hero's are usually not the one who are the focus. It is usually a woman's story that is what attracts the audience.

Most Trp people are usually the aunties and female orientated family members (and yes the males in the room do tend to pretend to not act like they are interested but we know they are)

It is usually the plight of the woman/the story of the woman that attracts people.

I don't know why but it's something that we all like to relate to, can feel empathy for and as much as I love RR for being different, for going against the norms...We are still unsure of how Paro really feels, her views, her thoughts.

So I don't believe there has to be major changes in the show, I just believe there has to be a balance between the perspectives of the leads.

However saying that, I commend RR for being an absolutely wonderfully entertaining show and giving us two wonderful actors who have amazing chemistry together.

Also. in the UK it is doing extremely well and thus the show is working internationally which means that there is hope that it will do well in India.

Wonderful post.

my POV is that sometimes things dont turn out as they should be.
many love stories were told from hero's side, yet they were hit
though your opinion could be a reason

honestly TRP is something which can be gained by tested method
or sometimes cant achieve whatever you try for it

Very well written post !!
Agree with u !!
I don't think TRP viewers connect with angry hero's having emotional baggage and a shoddy characterization of heroine !!
They love to see the story from heroine's point of view and that's what DABH ruling the chart always !!

And yeah totally agreed on the last edited part !!
It was overdose of Rudra , always Rudra's pain, anguish and everything involving Rudra have been force fed to viewers :&

Well said NB...I personally felt last week was very good... This week I am missing the intensity...it gives me a sense of emptiness...
I still feel it's a very good show channel should back as ST had conceived ... If it is not getting good ratings then they can shift it to 11 pm slot...showing repeats at 630.. As it is garnering good ratings overseas... Continuing it in the same 930 slot overseas...
They don't show any promos of RR.. Overseas and BI is flooded with promos?. Reminds me of pyar ka dard and ipk promo issues...see pyar ka dard is still running..
See YHM has become popular so 11 pm can be used to show RR...

I still feel we should see this hatke shows... Just because we are a minority don't we deserve to see our kind of stories... Please colors have reservation for us..

Thank you for making this post. Honestly. There are a select few who use the forum for constructive criticism, and it makes me sad when rather immature responses simply beat back discussions.

A producer of the-show-that-must-not-be-named had once given an interview on what does and does not click on TV. One of the major requirements was: the show should preferably follow a woman's perspective. Natural response- the dominant viewership is that of women. RR doesn't fall into that cliche. Is that a bad thing? No- it's different, and in a good way. At the same time, however, this is a love story. Unless the FL gets sufficient screen space, it won't materialise into anything solid.

Regarding Rudra's character, I believe that the show has been showering attention on him. As a result, I relate to him more than other characters on the show. Given his monologues and such, he's easier to decode and his mental complexity isn't a problem at all. So I'm actually enjoying the layers in R's character- basically I am connecting. Surely, the execution is going perfect there. So what's happening with Paro?

Paro: yes. Lack of reactions. I know this will irritate, and enrage many but I must point this out. Before the one-foot tapasya, Rudra called her "characterless". She bucked up and said I'll prove myself, despite showing no good reason to prove her innocence (she could have shown the wedding outfits- which still remain forgotten). Last night, he accused her of the same- trying to come closer to him. Now she had a reason- those SWs were checking on them. But she decides to cry now. Let's now look at the outcomes of both situations. Yoga-day: Falls sick>guilty Rudra>Romance. Yesterday: Cries in public>need to combat SWs>Rudra sings>romance. Paro possibly has reactions- only when they are suitable for the larger umbrella goal ie. Romance.

Now I do enjoy these funny scenes- singing and all. But if I want to connect with this love story, I need plausibility. Many have said that Paro's journey from gratitude to love has been super short. If I saw this in a real life scenario, I would easily term this as infatuation. But I excuse even that as a daily soap requirement.

My other issue, tracks. TBH I like the speed. But that doesn't mean things should fluctuate. Dilsher, Laila, Mala, Thakur, are unresolved issues. I understand we're focusing on PaRud, but these issues remaining completely unmentioned bothers me a little. Lastly- legitimation. I assure you, when any rep of a women's group is asked, "Can't men and women work at the same level", her answer can never be "no". Same goes for the glory of the BSD (take on the actual BSF). All I'm saying is, these things need to be treated with seriousness, and should be untouched when they are craving for any lightness.

Also, I know that there are issues on the TRP thread. But closing down any temporary TRP threads ain't the answer. At least, I'd expect quicker proceedings to establish a new thread.

I have also been accused of "only writing negative opinions" about RR. I'm sorry for the offense, but I intend to pinpoint these loopholes so that it leads to the betterment of the show.

Those were all my emotions pent up from last week. Phew. All out. Now I can get back to the funnies.

EDIT: I see a lot of confusion over the target audience they are trying to reach out to. SJ had also pointed it out. The romance quota is different for teenagers v/s 20-30s audience v/s international audience v/s middle aged/ homemakers etc. They need to select one and get on with the show.

I beg to differ here coz I find nothing not relatable when watching a show from a men's perspective inspite of being a woman myself.I guess its only the lack of promotions and biased by the channel that is causing the harm, coz they expected RR to be a big hit and since its lagging behind so they have simply given up.
Also Paro's realization of love was a bit abrupt and sudden. They could have shown some dhak dhak moments and all and should have promoted that falling-in-love phase well. But I won't blame them as they wanted to rush to hate marriage the tried and tested trp earning formula😕Its high time that team RR and channel start believing in their product and sell it properly once again.
Promos and a NICE montage,is the thing that is lacking, coz I find it the most watchable thing on TV right now.My whole family including Dad and brothers are big fans of RR.
