For eager saas-bahus waiting to know who will replace their beloved Tulsi, we have some news. Actress Padmini Kolhapure will take over from where Smriti Irani leaves in Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Kolhapure beat strong contenders Gautami Gadgil and Poonam Dhillon to bag the role of the bahu non-pareil of desi TV.

Our sources say that Kolhapure has been chosen because of her versatility. Also, she and Ekta share a very good relationship. It also means that the former Bollywood actress will now begin a second innings in her career albeit on television this time. "Padmini has been confirmed as she can play a strong as well as a mellow character at the same time," he says.

However, Kolhapure will be Tulsi with a difference. For one, she will have an entirely different look. The production house is still in the process of finalising her character. Ekta Kapoor seems to be going the whole hog to ensure that the new Tulsi is launched with full fanfare. Things are being kept hush-hush to add to new Tulsi's mystery. When contacted Creative Head, Nivedita Basu said, "We are not in a position to talk about anything."

For Gautami Gadgil playing Tulsi will continue to remain a distant dream. Allegedly, her husband Ram Kapoor has been trying to persuade Ekta to sign her for the role of new Tulsi but to no avail.

Ekta Kapoor neither denied nor confirmed the news. Padmini Kolhapure was unavailable for a quote as she is in Pune.

i love smriti to death and am sure kyunki is never going to retain its earlier charms but we have to give padmini a chance...maybe she will be good...

Aactually Padmini is quite good, she used to bollywood film actor in the 80
or 90s, but I don't think she can be as aggressive as Smirti. We will have to
wait and see. I still think no one can replace Smirti.

Padmini will suit this role of tulsi rather than gautami and she won't look more than 40 and tulsi is above 60...so padmini will be perfect for this role
