CHAPTER 9. GEET'S RE-ENTRY IN MAAN'S LIFE PART I
"Arre! Jaldi chal Geet! Warna aaj MK Sir meri band bajaa denge!", Pinky mumbled as they walked from the lifts to the Head Office of Khurana Constructions. As Pinky reached her reception counter and started to arrange her desk properly, Geet looked around curiously. While looking around her eyes fell on the lift they had come from and she noticed a girl in early twenties coming out of it and storming towards them. Geet noticed that the girl was dressed in brown trousers and cream colored designer Kurti. Bad mehengi Kurti, nahi? Geet wondered. The girl's hair was left open and came nearly till her hips and she wore golden colored heels. The only accessories she wore were simple golden bracelet in one hand, a watch in other and pearl earrings in her ear. The girl seemed angry and Geet had feeling the girl would chew out anybody who came in front of her.
Geet frowned as she noticed a man following the girl dressed in red shirt, black trousers and black vest. He seemed to be a bit older than the girl and his eyes were trained on the girl showing concern and tenderness. Geet wouldn't be surprised if the guy turned out to be in love with the girl. The girl reached Pinky's desk and slammed her hands on it. Pinky who was rummaging through her bag for her regular dose of chips straightened up in fear. She relaxed a bit when she noticed the girl as if she seemed to recognize her. Geet stood beside Pinky scared for her friend as she noticed the girl's eyes burn in anger. The man stood behind the girl and finally took notice of Pinky.
"Chippy! Humaare Boyfriend free hain kya? Humein unse baat karni hai!", the girl almost growled and Geet's eyebrows rose in surprise. Geet was more surprised when the man piped up, "Haan Pinky bataao! Meri Sweetheart ka boyfriend free hai kya?" The girl turned around and shouted at the man, "Aap chup rahiye!" and turned back. Pinky looked at the girl in confusion, "Pata nahi! Main toh abhi abhi aayi?!" The girl looked at Pinky in surprise, "Tum late ho! Tum jaanti ho na tumhaare boss ko latecomers pasand nahi! Phir kyun late hui? Late aana KC mein galat hai Chippy!" The man behind the girl nodded and spoke in a mocking tone, "Very bad Pinky!" The girl turned around and moved ahead to strangle the man but pulled her hands back, "Chup rehne ka kya lenge aap?" Without listening to his reply, she turned around and spoke to Pinky, "Theek hai! Adi ko call lagaao aur poocho!" The man behind her spoke to her, "Why don't we sit down till she talks to Adi?" The girl just huffed, "Just get lost Arnav!" and did not even turn back. Geet's eyes widened in shock at the girl's rude tone and she noticed hurt enter into the man's eyes. He looked away for a second and his eyes met hers. He noticed the shock on her face and gave her a sad smile as if saying this was something usual. Geet felt sorrow for the man.
Pinky called Adi and spoke in the phone for few seconds after which she told the girl, "MK Sir Cabin mein hai!" Geet looked at Pinky in shock. The girl was talking about Maan; does that mean Maan already has a girlfriend? The girl mumbled a thanks' and stormed off and the man followed her. "Pinky!", Geet called her friend, "Tu ne mujhe pehle kyun nahi bataaya ki Maan ki pehle se ek girlfriend hai!" Pinky looked at her in confusion, "Par MK Sir ki toh koi girlfriend nahi hai!" Geet pointed towards the direction the girl went, "Toh woh kaun thi?" Pinky's eyes widened and she started laughing, "Arre! Woh! Woh toh Jalebi hai!" "Kya? Jalebi? Yeh kaisa naam hai?", Geet looked at Pinky in shock. Pinky smiled at her, "Arre! Kuch saal pehle KC ka Head Office aur kahin tha. Sirf do saal pehle H.O. yahaan khula! Aur kai new staff join hue jaise main, Tasha Ma'am, Sasha Ma'am, Adi Sir etc etc. Tab ek din humne dekha ki ek ladki andar aayi aur seedha MK Sir ke cabin mein ghusi! MK Sir ko gale lagaati hai aur unke gaal chumti hai! Aur phir toh roz woh ladki yahaan aane lagi! Woh ladki thi Jalebi jo abhi andar gayi!" Geet looked at Pinky with her mouth open in shock.
Pinky continued speaking, "Hum sab toh ise MK Sir ki girlfriend samajh baithe aur phir kuch dino baad humein Sr. Accountant ne bataaya ki woh koi MK Sir ki girlfriend nahi hai. Kuch dino baad main aur Jalebi achche dost ban gaye tab main use yeh girlfriend waali baat bataayi. Toh woh has padi aur tabse hum dono ka yeh joke hai! Woh Office mein jab bhi aati hai MK Sir ko apna boyfriend bulaati hai!" Pinky started laughing again while Geet frowned, "Par yeh Jalebi kaisa naam hai?" Pinky shook her head vigorously, "Uska naam Jalebi nahi Khushi hai, Khushi Khurana! Par woh kya haina hum dono jab friends bane toh hum dono ko pata chala ki hum dono ki ek aadat ek dum same to same hai!" Geet looked at her surprised, "Kaun si?" Pinky giggled, "Hum dono jab bhi excited hote hai, khush hote hai, pareshaan hote hai ya ghussa hote hai, hum dono khaane lag jaate hai, bas farak yeh hai ki main Chips khaati hoon aur woh Jalebi! Isliye main use Jalebi bulaati hoon aur woh mujhe Chippy!" Geet did not know whether to slap her forehead or roll her eyes at Pinky and Khushi's antics. She settled for shaking her head.
After a while, Geet looked at Pinky confused, "Par woh Maan ki girlfriend nahi toh hai kaun?" Pinky smiled at her, "Arre! Woh MK Sir ki choti behen hai!" Geet looked at her in shock and confusion, "Par Dev ki toh koi behen nahi hai! Matlab ek do cousins hain par sab Pammi ke side se hain. Khurana family se toh koi nahi hai! Aur Maan ya Dev ke koi saggi behen bhi nahi hai!" Geet was sure about what she was talking because once she agreed to marry Dev she had been kept locked in her house with Rajji and many relatives of Khuranas had visited her for the various wedding rituals. So she may have not met all of them but she knew everything about them. Toh yeh Khushi kahaan se aa gayi? Geet was confused but Pinky was not, "Arre! Jalebi koi MK Sir saggi ya cousin behen nahi hai. Unki godh li hui behen hai! Yeh tab ki baat hai jab Mk Sir College ke last year mein the! Woh tabhi 19 - 20 years ke honge! Tab tak unke Guardians Mr. & Mrs. Gill ki death ho chuki thi. MK Sir bahut akele the! Phir ek din unki gaadi ek Orphanage ke saamne kharaab hogayi! Jab tak unki gaadi theek hoti tab tak woh Orphanage mein chale gaye thode dair time pass karne! Aur wahaan unhein Khushi mili jo tabhi barely 13 years ki thi. Khushi pehle Lucknow mein rehti thi apne mom dad ke saath but unki car accident hui aur woh mar gaye jab Khushi sirf 8 years ki thi. Uska koi aur parivar nahi thi isliye Khushi ek Lucknow ke Orphanage mein rehti thi. Orphanage jab shut down hua toh saare bachchon ko Dilli ke Orphanage bhej diya gayaa. Bas! Tab se Khushi us Orphanage mein rehti thi. Jab saare bachche MK Sir se darr rahe the tab ek Khushi hi thi jo unse baat karne nikal padi. MK Sir ko woh badi sweet lagi aur phir woh har roj usse milne aate. Kuch mahino baad MK Sir ko MBA ke liye London jaana pada. Wahaan unhonein Khushi ko bahut miss kiya. MBA complete karke jab woh Dilli aaye toh pehla kaam Khushi ko adopt kiya aur apni behen bana liya aur doosra kaam KC ko start karne ki Procedure shuru kar di! Bas tab se Khushi MK Sir ke saath rehti hai unki behen bankar! Last year usne Fashion Designing ka course khatam kiya aur iss saal se AR Fashion House mein kaam kar rahi hai as an Assistant to Chief Designer. MK Sir usse bahut pyaar karte hain aur uske liye kuch bhi kar sakte hain!"
Geet smiled as Pinky narrated the story. She felt her respect grow for Maan as she realized that he had adopted an orphan and gave her a family. She also felt her feelings grow for him and his generous heart. Pinky shook her head at the dreamy expression on Geet's face. Lo! Hogayi ek aur Dhak Dhak ki fan! She nudged Geet and Geet blushed and looked away.
