Brilliant Episode - Great Acting and Extremely Well -Directed
Since pink is Astha's color and this is what she used to color Shlok finally, here is a song and some lyrics from Teyenna Taylor that apply to Astha. Color Me Pink also implies that someone is highly pleased.
Color Me Pink - Teyana Taylor

I know that I'm trippin, I know
He got me trippin, I know
That(that) Boy(boy) He(he) Color Me Pink Yes Sir!
That boy color me pink, Got me feelin' like a lady
I know that I'm trippin, I know
He got me trippin, I know
That(that) Boy(boy) He(he) Color Me Pink Yes Sir!
That boy color me pink
Got me feelin' like such a lil' lady

First of all, I want to applaud the unsong heroine of the Holi Party and that is Sojal. She specifically wanted to get the bhaang filled glasses - not for any malicious purpose but because she just wanted to have fun. But doing so, she did a huge favor to Shlok and Anjali who finally started their way back to freedom. Astha would never been that uninhibited if she had not been that drunk.
1. Shlok Painted in Astha's Colors
So a half drunk Astha who got even more drunk thanks to Sulbha's insistence, approached Shlok who was stunned to see her in Swati's avataar. Astha eventually did not have to be Swati for Shlok to be free. She just had to be herself - clumsy, honest, generous and full of love for Shlok - to bring Shlok out of bitter memories that he is holding so tight to save himself from further hurt.
Astha asked Shlok if he liked her in Swati's avataar, and that she would put her color (pink) on him and that color would become a dominating factor for him from now onwards. Shlok after a stunned silence told Astha that she liked to hurt him by deliberately using his past wounds. Shlok, who also was drunk, was honest too and showed his hurt to her by telling that she did not care about his wounds. When Astha denied it, initially Shlok was distrustful of her especially when Astha told him that she felt his pain and her only goal was to take away his sorrows. And that she was not planning to share his happiness. So Astha finally openly offered him her unconditional love, where she was not demanding anything of him.
Shlok's skepticism slowly started melting away when Astha told him that she loved him. He asked her the question that what was her motive for doing all this and if she wanted something. This is the main reason for Shlok's distrust as he has never gotten any unconditional love. He loved Swati deeply but she always demanded something or other for him. Astha is the only one who is not expecting anything in return from him though she hopes that he would love her back. So she told Shlok that she was doing this because she loved him. That she had fallen in love with him again and this time it was after knowing him truly whereas first time she had fallen in love with the false image he had presented to her. I really liked Shrenu and Avi's performance here where Shrenu as Astha switched between laughter and tears, and Shlok's expressions that switched from shock to mocking disbelief to stunned realization that Astha truly loved him the way he was and had gone to all these lengths for him. Though Astha told him that her timing was never right, this time she did get her timing right.
The final scene was picturized beautifully with stunned Shlok standing still and laughing free spirited Astha (her true self) throwing plates after plates of pink and yellow gulalal that represented her love and trust for him. I even liked how Vinayak and Aditi were shown on the sides as two witnesses - Vinayak beaming in happiness at genuine show of love for Shlok and Aditi with cold blooded expression at this display. The color throwing was the best Holi scene I have seen in any serial and it advanced the story in a beautiful way.
2. Acid-Filled Red Color - Shlok Letting Go of Swati's Last Bitter Memory
At first Shlok was stunned at all this. Then Vinayak asked him to throw the color back at Astha. Shlok who had refused to play Holi with Astha and had reluctantly put the color on Astha at baba's bidding, ran after Astha. Chipkali gave him the plate of red Gulaal that she had mixed with acid. Incidentally, this was the only color Astha did not throw at Shlok. So she never had to be Swati to free Shlok. This was the color that was on the car and was Swati's signature Holi color. Shlok too it and was going to throw it in anger at Astha - anger because Astha was forcing him to let go of his memories. But an innocent dancer was hurt in the process that brought back Shlok to his senses. Astha who is convinced that Shlok hates her, asked him in a hurt voice that whether his hate was that extreme where he would burn her.
And...
3. Niranjan's Rage - Hell hath no fury like a Drama Queen Scorned
The Holi Party has not worked the way Niranjan wanted it to work. He wanted to present an image of this perfect family - traditional wife, obedient daughter-in-laws, perfect marriage of his heir and a benevolent head of the family who is generous enough to celebrates the colorful festival by mingling with family, minions and adoring subjects. Alas...everything went in the opposite direction.
He was already seething after seeing a drunk Anjali dancing in abandon. He had just returned after taking her to his room, when the poor dancer was hurt badly in Godfather's party. On top of that, the heir and his wife were making a spectacle of themselves along with the other lowly daughter in law. Then the image of a perfect marriage of the heir was shattered when his wife accused him of hating her enough to want to burn her.
Suddenly the mask fell off for a minute and he thundered Astha to be quiet. The "obedient" future Anjali responded by putting a finger on her lips. It was just a hilarous scene. Then he ordered the family to go home and even the heir went quietly as he knew baba's patience was at the end. Baba of course used money to silence the people who were hurt and then took out his wrath at younger brother Vinayak who was responsible for Holi arrangments. His explanations were termed as excuses. Wonder how long has Niranjan bullying his younger brother who for some reason still respects him. After the family was dismissed, Abhay came forward to throw more salts in his wounds by telling him that he would not tell anybody of all this. As if there was anybody else left to be told. Did not everything happen in the open. If one looks from a normal view point, nothing big happened except that an innocent person was hurt. Rest of the fun, drunk behaviour etc. are normal things that can happen in a big party. But still. ...from Niranjan's point of view, his image was dented.
4. Niranjan's Helpless Fury and Funny/Poignant Anjali
There has always been a question as to why Anjali has changed herself so much for Niranjan who is not worthy of her. I think it was answered today to some extent though no back story of Anjali and Niranjan has been shown so far.
They showed Astha and Anjali in parallel once again - both drunk and both loving their husbands. The difference is that Anjali changed herself to become something that she is not and Astha has not done that. Anjali craves Niranjan's approval, respect and love.
Again the stick was shown and Anjali was rubbing her arm. So Niranjan must have hit her but after a while he could not do anything else as Anjali was too drunk and was in a way showing him a mirror. Some of the scenes were very funny when he was talking about wanting the DILs to walk in Anjali's footsteps and Anjali in turn was tripping over her own feet. Niranjan too saw the irony of his statement and was even more furious if that was possible. He as usual blamed her and called her on her "excuses". Since it is always Anjali's fault, he was telling her that women should not have been given even non-alcoholic thandais. Now a sober Anjali would not have questioned him, but a drunk Anjali did tell him logically that she had always served it before. Would the guests not question his hospitality if women are not given any drinks whatsoever on a festival. This shows how much Niranjan had lost control of the situation.
Then the fun part was when Anjali told him that she is going to give herself punishment. That she will not be with him because she is not worthy of him . I really wanted her to say that she is going to sleep with Astha from now onwards in the guest room as part of her punishment. But of course, we cannot have Astha away from Shlokie bear as that would be too boring for both Shlokie and viewers. Anyway, her self prescribed punishment was to stand outside Niranjan's door for the entire night for a month. This was hilarious because Niranjan likes to give these monthly punishments to Anjali but they have to be hidden from the rest of the family, else his image would crash. Waiting for the day when Anjali punishes herself by leaving him for good. Actually, kicking him out of the Anjali niwas is the better option with kids/grandkids staying back with Anjali.
Coming back to the episode, Niranjan thundered and lectured for a long time but it was really in vain because Anjali was too drunk for Niranjan to derive any enjoyment from further abusing her. So he left in disgust.
Misti, I am with you that Anjali should get drunk like this at least once a month. Niranjan is going to find faults with Anjali anyway and abuse her. So why not enjoy herself and also defy him at the same time every so often.
Geetanjali was just brilliant in the scene where she made one feel for her and her drunken act was just superb.
5. Astha and Shlok - Falling & Rising in their Own World
The discord and intensity of Anjali and Niranjan's bedroom scene was contrasted by a jovial and light atmosphere in Shlok and Astha's bedroom. Shlok of course was himself drunk and was not bothered about Astha either damaging his image or making a public drama. So the clear contrast between Shlok and Niranjan was never made this clear.
Astha and Shlok were sitting or lying on the opposite walls of the dividing line between Shlok's sleeping area and sitting area (which is Astha's sleeping area), with Astha counting her bangles and Shlok observing her in bafflement. It was a very funny scene. Then Astha started crying because she once again made a mistake of falling in love with Shlok who was just going to hurt her. Shlok mocked her that she was mad to fall for somebody like him who was not worthy of love. So Shlok never hated Astha; it was all self hatred where he neither trusts himself nor think of himself as worthy of love because he has fallen so low after being in love. He also told her that her suffering is because she fell for him - the unworthy one. Both Niranjan and Shlok are insecure, but the difference is that Niranjan thinks of himself as this great person because of the image he has created whereas Shlok underestimates himself and his goodness.
That's when their discussion of falling and rising in love started. Astha told him that she would no longer fall in love, but rise in love. That she has hurt herself a lot by falling. That implies that she would stop changing herself (she did not change but she did compromise with her values) and leave with dignity because he does not care for her. Shlok ended up mocking her in his signature style where he was rolling on the floor with laughter and mocking her lines of "rise in love and not fall in love". He was in disbelief because he himself has fallen and changed himself after falling in love.
Overall, a brilliant episode that was superbly directed by Waseem. Even though everyone was good, the episode belonged to Shrenu, Avinash and Geetanjali. All three were superb in showing transition of emotions in the same scene. Also the writing and editing was on par with acting and direction.
The whole sequence from Astha declaring herself in love with dancers dancing and music being played, along with the throwing of color by a free spirited laughing Astha on stunned still Shlok was beautifully picturized. I also liked how Aditi is not given exaggerated reactions, but is shown calm as any cold blooded murderer would be. So though Aditi is not my favorite character, I liked her inclusion in today's scene between Shlok and Astha. Vinayak was another witness who was presented as a well wisher foil to Aditi's evil designs.
Other favorite scenes were Niranjan/Anjali in the bedroom and the last part of Shlok/Astha scene where Shlok is falling on the floor laughing and Astha leaves him.

Brilliant episode...I think this was one of the best depiction of drunken behaviour on Indian TV that I liked and also found quite real. In most of the drunk scenes that I have seen on TV, the presentation has usually been very crass where the characters have been reduced to caricatures. None of that happened...the scenes were not only humours but were also poignant. Whether it is baby bear wondering that how can Astha love him and then later on laughing and saying that since she has fallen in love then suffer the consequences...or Astha who is baring her heart that she knows that she will not get love in return, yet she loves. That she knows that she won't be part of his happiness but will bring happiness in his life and then leave...Or Anjali who is desperately trying to apologise to her sahib for spoiling his image and that she is ready to go sleepless for a month to make up for her mistake regarding drinking bhang. Although these three characters and their scene were presented in a very humorous way but the pain and the heartbreak the characters were facing in their respective life were also peeping out through the humour. At the end of the scenes I could not decide whether to laugh with them or hug them. So kudos to Waseem for treating the three characters with respect and with sympathy.

Coming to the episode Astha dressed up as Swati approached Shloke and asked him that how she looks and that since she is standing in front of him as Swati he should tell her (he has never complimented Astha directly on her looks...he has complimented her indirectly but she has not been able to understand). She also told him that that they are alone despite all the cacophony of noise surrounding them and that no one will hear them. Astha declared that whatever happens she will colour him and the effect of that colour will rule his head...and she colours him with pink coloured gulal which is her favourite colour and not that of Swati. Although she is dressed as Swati, she is colouring her with her love and not that of Swati's. Shloke gets a flashback of a girl running and wearing the same type of clothing and he pulls Astha to himself and accuses her of being a sadist because she insists on digging his wounds and does not care that all this hurts him. One of these days I will like to see the girl wearing white churidar in his thoughts to be that of Astha. If the association changes then the memories will also change. Anyway Shloke turns to leave and Astha stops him and tell him that it does matter to her...all his pain matters to her. Shloke's body language shows that he does not believe her. The way he turned away made me wonder whether he thinks that everyone says that what he feels matters but when it comes to the real deal then they leave. Astha continued that she feels all his pains and that's why she wants to be the medicine that will cure his wounds and take away the pain. That she cannot share his happiness but wants to be the cause of his happiness. Indirectly Astha tells him that she will leave but before leave she wants to see him happy. Shloke is completely perplexed that why on earth will anyone want to do all this and what does she want. I found his confusion very poignant...he is genuinely confused that anyone will do so much for him (shows that no one has put his first) and that if she is doing all this then she wants something (doesn't his baba do this? Shloke's only source of emotional attachment is his baba but his baba also has demands. If the demands are fulfilled then baba will show his affection...no wonder Shloke strives to fulfil those demands). Shloke is left stunned by her reply or her open declaration with hands outstretched that she is doing all this just because she loves him. That earlier without knowing him she fell in love with the image that he created for her but now she has got to know him and she has fallen in love again, but this time it is with the real Shloke. Astha sushs Shloke when he tries to say something and tells him that she knows that he hates her as much as she loves him and that something must be wrong with the timing or with her fate because when she realised that she loves, she will have to leave him. This dialogue reminded me of a dialogue from a movie ...It's from Gulab Gang and the dialogue is that "Jindagi kismet or timing ka khel hai"...or life is a game played between timing and destiny. Astha continues that she does not want to leave with any regret and that's why is telling him about her real feelings towards him. Shloke is just left stunned with her declaration. He stands still in shock while Astha brimming with happiness gives him a tight hug and then proceeds to colours him in different colour gulal...it started with her love, progressed to her trust in him and ended with happiness. The only people who were witness to this love declaration were chacha who was smiling and grumpy asbestos hand Chipkali, who incidentally managed to nicely mix some poisonous acid in the gulal with her bare fingers. This scene in conjunction with the dumb charades scene makes me wonder whether it will be chachu who will realise what Asbestos Chipkali is up to. During Dumb charades one of the movies name was hum apke hain kaun and Chachu had guesses the answer. Later on when he had jokingly remarked that I am your chacha, the camera was focussed on Chipkali when he uttered this dialogue. That's why I am wondering. Anyway brilliant acting by Avinash and Shrenu here...I liked how Shrenu switched between tears and happiness and the changes of expressions on Avinash's face.

Anyway coming back to the episode. Astha runs away and Vinayak chachu tells baby bear to follow his honeypot. Shloke takes the plate of red gulal (containing acid) from asbestos chipkali's hands and chases after Astha. He is angry that honeypot is forcing him to face his issues regarding his past and that's why he wants to throw the red gulal (Swati's favourite colour) on Astha. To me it showed that since she is forcing him to face his issues he is going to pay her back by dragging her into darkness by colouring her with Swati's favourite colour. But the gulal lands on the dancer's hands which gets burned. It kind of showed that if he does not control his anger and his journey to self-destruction, innocent bystanders can also get burned by his anger. Shloke is left shocked and he shouts for water to be brought for the poor man who was shouting in pain. So the remaining link to Swati has also been destroyed...it not only fell on the ground but it was also laced with acid. It is asbestos Chipkali who through her actions is actually bringing Shloke and Astha closer...she thinks that she is pushing them apart but she herself is helping Astha to break Shloke's link with the negative emotions that rule over his psyche. Earlier Astha's dialogues and behaviours used to remind him of Swati and past used to mix with the present...today even thought Astha was dressed as Swati, he saw her as Astha. Neeranjan comes running to save his image and realises that all has slipped through his closed wrist😳. He blasts Vinayak for buying substandard gulal and not for doing any work properly. Is this how Vinayak's spine has been broken by Neeranjan? Then comes the icing on the cake...I mean baby bear's honeypot who suddenly gets this bright idea that since Shloke hates her, that's why he wanted to burn her🤔. So why on earth did he save her from fire if he really wanted to burn her?🤔 He could have easily pushed her in the fire?😳 Now when honeypot gets an idea she has to share it with the entire world😆... what's the use of getting an idea if one cannot share it😉😛...so she stomped her feet and asked Shloke that just because he hates her does he want to burn her too😆. Shloke is completely exasperated and Neeranjan finally loses the plot😆 (actually he lost it long time back but now the symptoms are more visible😉) and shouts at poor honeypot who like a good holds her finger to her lips and goes shhh🤣. Neeranjan has had enough and he tells everyone to go home. Abhay comes and tells him that he need not worry, all this will be kept a secret. By the way what will be kept a secret?🤔 I mean was there anything that needs to be kept as a secret? Everyone leaves and furious Neeranjan and asbestos Chipkali are left behind...asbestos chipkali is standing behind Neeranjan and she also gets a bye bye from honeypot. So, Vinayak brought wood that was not dry for the Holika Dahan and that is why he had to add kerosene...that kerosene was misused by someone to hurt Astha. Now today he brought gulala that was messed around by asbestsos chipkali and again Astha was the target...now I want to see this happening Neeranjan using asbestos Chipkali and Vinayak figuring that asbestos chuipkali is up to no good (but let him be clueless regarding papa bear). So he will take measures to remove asbestos chipkali...Neeranjan should be shown smiling but gritting his teeth that asbestos chipkali has been found out and Vinayak should become the apple of Anjali's eyes for showing the real face of asbestos chipkali and thus making baby bear protective of his honeypot. Then let me see what Neeranajan will do😈.

The last scene was shown in parallel...between two couples...Neeranjan and Anjali in one room, Shloke and Astha in the other room. Anjali is crying and most probably she has been hit by Neeranjan who is furious that Anjali's drunken behaviour has spoiled his image. Anjali is equally full off remorse but due to alcohol majority of what Neeranjan is saying is actually not having much effect on her. This scene had me wanting to just hug and then the next moment i was laughing seeing neeranjan's condition. He told Anjali that everyone was laughing at Anjali....by the way who was laughing at Anjali? Everyone was drunk and they were all laughing at each other in humour. Neeranjan's insecurity and ego sits on the tip of his nose and he cannot see anything else. Then he blasted her off for not being an example that their daughter-in-laws will follow and Anjali stumbles. Then he got angry that why were thandai served to the ladies and what Anjali said was right...every year it is done and again it is done for image. So now he is angry at something that Anjali does so that his image is maintained. Anjali later on declares that she will punish herself by standing every night outside their bedroom door...so the punishment is going to be in front of everyone while Neeranjan likes to keep things hidden. At the end Neeranjan gives up and walks away in a huff. In baby bears room both are drunk and leaning against the wall. Astha and Shloke both laugh at each other and then Astha starts crying that why has she again fallen in love with baby bear when he only shouts at her. Baby bear laughs at her and tells her that she is really mad...is he something that can be loved by anyone (aww baby bear...he does not think that he deserves love and he is actually equating himself to an object and not a human being. What has happened in the past that has made him so guilty and insecure, that he thinks that he does not deserve affection? No wonder he is angry all the time). Then he tells her that since she has committed this mistake then she has to suffer...Astha declares that she will leave him and while walking she trips and falls on baby bear who laughs and tells her that how much has she fallen. Astha remarks that she does this every time. She falls and gets hurt just as she fell in love with him and hurt herself but now she will rise in love... (So is original Astha going to be back? She did" fall" when she decided to become Swati, will she know rise in love and show Shloke some real things about love. She also "fell" in love when she did not set boundaries. Will she retain her identity yet Shloke some realities regarding love?) Astha walks away and Shloke laughs saying that he lies in love (yeh we know baby bear that you lie in love,...but that love is a selfish one) and he does not fall in love...and he tumbles down the stairs to the floor.

Coming to the character that I left out...Jyoti who desperately wants to talk to Astha but Astha is too caught up in her own life to understand that Jyoti needs help. I liked how her scene was shown in parallel to that of her brothers with Astha...both the siblings are linked to Astha. One is having a drunken conversation with her while the other wants to have a conversation with her. Astha tells the brother that there is so much noise nobody will overhear what he is telling her while the sister is wondering that there are so many people, how is she going to talk to Astha and that too when Astha is not in her senses. It is true...it might be time for Jytoi to help herself.

Again, on the whole a very good episode and kudos to all cast and crew...In the acting department a special mention to Avinash, Shrenu, Geetanjali and Neeranjan.

I can't wait for them to get back to their senses😳...i know ma be i am petty but i loved how aditi got to watch the whole aastha confession. aastha is so nice n aditi must have noticed it,yet she was trying to burn her with acid, that's inhuman. Still i doubt that aditi can manage to pull all this off by her own.

Neelum, thanks.
All three - Shrenu, Avinash and Geetanjali were superb though Anjali had a brief scene compared to Shlok and Astha. The range of emotions from Geetanjali - loss of control, tears, helplessness were portrayed so perfectly. Same was the case with Shrenu who transitioned between laughter, tears and pain. Avinash did not have as many lines but his expressions were just great - confusion, mocking disbelief, stunned realization, drunken act and kiddish behavior.
Manish too was as usual great but today he had a limited scope. But I liked his stomping act where he was losing control of the plot.
I too enjoyed Aditi seeing her plan foil and witnessing this display of love. It is not believable that Aditi can pull off everything on her own and I hope they don't show that. This would bring down the show.
Aditi is inhuman, but she has been that way from the beginning. What she was doing to Shlok was inhuman too - playing such kind of mind games that torment somebody.
