CONCEPT & STORY
Meri Aawaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni is the story of a talented 19-year old small-town girl, who lands up in Mumbai to sing for an audition. But, destiny has something else in store for her, even as her nightingale of a voice goes unrecognized.
Worse still, a heartbreak is in the offing and life turns out to be one big bumpy ride. Will she be able to pick up the pieces and move on? Will her voice get the recognition it deserves? Will she get the man she sacrificed everything for?
A musically moving saga of real-life, contrasting characters, Meri Aawaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni, above all, attempts to project brittle human relationships, where some wither away while others stand the test of time.
CHARACTERS
Sudha (Ashima Bhalla)
Age: 18-19 years
A middle-class, small-town girl
Occupation: Aspiring singer
One liner: Sincerely works towards everybody's happiness at home; Selfless and nave.
Character: Petite, pretty and charming. Sudha lost her mother leaving her orphaned and she moves into the Mailk household. Sudha is adept with all household chores and shares an extremely congenial relationship with all at home. She is an extremely talented singer who is encouraged by Raj to pursue singing professionally.
Obedient, nave, simple and unassuming these are the traits that are inherent to her persona. Her family harmony and happiness is the top priority in her life. She has adjusted herself beautifully to the house and follows every ritual that an ideal Indian girl is expected to. By nature she is sweet, gentle and innocent. She secretly falls in love with Raj and nurtures a dream to marry him.
Raj Malik (Karan Grover)
Age: 25 years
Middle class young working man
Occupation: Assistant Marketing Manager in a firm
One liner: Believes in making his own destiny and dreams real big - Greed with speed!
Personality: The usual middle class hard working guy, living with his parents in Mumbai. The only son. He is inherently an over ambitious man who is willing to work hard and smart to reach the top real soon. He has a very broad vision and visualizes himself successful, powerful and wealthy in the time to come.
In the real sense, Raj is an opportunist who isn't too emotional about issues and rather approaches them professionally and practically. In his pursuit to achieve his goals he doesn't mind bending rules. For him its no crime chasing his dreams and overcoming anything, anyhow that comes his way. Raj has found a good friend in Sudha (his childhood friend) circumstances have compelled Sudha to move in with the Malik family. He recognizes Sudha's talent and puts in his effort to launch her. Gradually falls in love with her.
Mr Vijayendra Malik (Saleem Shah)
Age: 50 years
Occupation: Retired government bank employee
One liner: A man who has lived by his principles all his life; Righteous and contented
Personality: Mr Vijayendra Malik is a self-content man who came from north India to Mumbai and worked many years at the state bank and retired as a manager. He is very happy to have fulfilled all his responsibilities as a father and a husband and is now enjoying the retirement life. He is a lighthearted character who shares a jovial relationship with his wife and they often have salty and sweet arguments. When Sudha moves in with the Malik family, Vijayendra fills the vacuum of a father figure in her life. He is traditional but yet modern and open in his outlook. He also has the skill of reciting funny shayris whenever he gets a chance to.
He however is very jovial with his wife and they often fight over the tv remote to watch their favorite channel his being the wrestling matches. He is content with his current lifestyle and at ease with his son's career & life. He is a man who has always played safe & preaches the same ideology to Raj as well.
Mrs Meenakshi Malik (Shama Deshpande)
Age: 45-46 years
Occupation: Housewife
Oneliner: Abiding & fun loving wife, fulfilling mother
Personality: Has always been the abiding wife to Mr Malik. She has never been demanding and always been happy and comfortable with her husband's career graph and adjusted accordingly. She is God fearing and traditional in her outlook.
Unlike other (to-be) mother-in-laws she is simple, sweet and trusting and shares a warm, cordial relationship with Sudha. She understands Sudha completely and both have great tuning and enjoy spending time together. She is a fun loving character who shares cheerful and light hearted relationship with her husband. Though she is an elderly lady but there is a child like naughtiness in her that makes her a delightful character. Raj, her son loves her and though she may be fun-spirited he takes her word very seriously.
Rohit Oberoi
Age: 24 years
Occupation: Industrialist's son
One liner: Rich dude who has everything easy in life
Character: Rohit is the heir to a wealthy industrialist and is taking the family business forward. He is stylish, sophisticated and like a dude. Like any other companion he believes in Priya's dreams and ambition and also gives her all the encouragement to become a singer.

Priya Raichand
Age: 18-19 years
Occupation: Aspiring singer
One liner: She has got all that it takes!! Glamorous, hip and wealthy- there is nothing to stop her from achieving her dreams.
Character: Priya is a glamorous, attractive young woman who is an aspiring singer- the daughter of a very successful business tycoon. Since long she has nurtured a dream to cut her own music album and convince her father to invest his finances in it. She has been unsuccessful so far. She is shrewd, aggressive and can overcome any obstacle that comes between her launch.
