Another horrible and awful day.
I smashed my shot on the rough wood on the counter top of the bar.
I was in a bar where it was dark, dank, and if it wasn't from the steady music that was being played from the awful and horrible band I would have been irritated from the loud and audible licking and sucking that was coming from the drunken couples that were littered about making out.
It was Valentine's Day and of course there would be a steady stream of couples, lovers, and others that was looking for a quick hook up.
I ran my hand through my hair, roughly and smashed my hand on the bar.
Except from the sudden stares from the couple next to me and a leery look from the bartender there was no interruption.
I wanted to smash my head on the table for my stupidity.
I was this close in getting fired but I rather would like to be fired than being demoted from making a stupid and reckless mistake.
"Give me another one, Vodka...on the rocks." I motioned.
The bartender nodded skeptically.
She wiped a small glass and filled it up with ice.
She then flipped some drinks or whatever in her weird maneuver and filled up the cup with the smooth clear liquid.
She passed it towards me and I took it and without any thought swung it back and finished the alcohol.
I cleared my throat at the strong alcohol taste and hit the glass back on the bar.
"Hit me!" I directed to the bartender.
She looked at me leery but filled up my glass and I continued to swing the glass back and the alcohol hit the back of my tongue and had such a strong.
"Hit me!" I said again.
Instead of the alcohol helping to clear my head it was continuously teasing and taunting me and I slammed my arm even harder for her to hurry up and pour more but she didn't move.
"Are you deaf?" I said while turning my sharp gaze on her.
"Look I don't give a f*** what your problem is but I'm not dealing with a half a** intoxicated fool in my bar. You can order something else but I'm not giving you anymore alcohol." She said with her hands on her hips and the couple from earlier silently watching the exchange.
"I'm not paying you to be my babysitter so just freaking give me another shot!" I said yelling at her.
Before I got up a firm hand was placed on my shoulder and I turned to see a bigger and more muscular guy standing behind me who was the obvious brute force in throwing out pesky or crazy drunk fools who couldn't handle their liquor.
I don't see how I counted as any.
"You can easily get yourself up and leave or I will have to give you a hand." He said in a gruff voice.
I shook him off of me.
"Is this what you do to customers? Throw them out?" I got up and he put his hand on me again.
"Get off! Sheesh!" I went into my pocket and I slammed the money on the table.
"Keep the change...seeing as you will need it anyway for this crummy a** place to begin with!" I said.
I shook the bouncer off of me and I walked out the bar.
***************
"Kittu!" Shraddha said scared.
"Don't worry...I will be quick!" I said.
I was busy whistling, snuggling my coat closer to my body, my heels clicking on the sidewalk as I walked, and as I slowly twirling the baseball bat in my right hand.
"Kittu this is crazy...we can get in serious trouble." Shraddha said trailing behind me.
"Then you can easily bail." I said still whistling and twirling my bat in my hand.
"Kittu..."Shraddha said again.
I turned around and Shraddha almost collided into me.
"Shraddha go home it's Valentine's Day and my brother is waiting for you don't worry about me." I said smiling.
"But he just broke up with you and I didn't want you to be by yourself..." Shraddha said.
I grabbed her hands and smiled.
"Don't worry. I'm not doing this because I'm sad. I'm doing this to get even." I said smiling gleefully.
Shraddha shook her head and she hugged me.
"Be careful and call me to make sure you are safe?" Shraddha said.
"Okay!" I said while smiling and Shraddha went to hail a cab and waved before she left.
I turned back around and went to my task at hand.
I checked out all cars that were lined up until I saw a red race car and I double checked the driver license plate to make sure it was the right one.
I touched the car and I slid my hand along it as he gave the car to me for my birthday.
"I'm taking back the car." He said.
"But you gave it to me...
"Its in my name not yours and it doesn't belong to you." He said.
"I have the keys." I said.
"Makes no difference they will be changed by the end of today so it makes no difference." He said.
I sighed and dug out the keys from my purse and tried to stick it into the keyhole and it didn't work and it was in true form that he changed the locks.
"S***! Stupid a**" I said annoyed.
I cradled the bat behind my neck and I thought for a while.
"Well he said he wanted it back...he said it's his...I just want to return the bat that he gave me as well." I said while smiling even more.
I backed up slightly and I swung the bat as hard as I could and it hit the glass making a cracking sound.
I swung the bat again, and again until the glass broke and it spilled onto the nice furnished black leather seat that I personally had polished six months ago.
"Think you going to take my stuff and not have me say anything." I panted as I swung the bat and again hit the other window and glass shattered onto the seats and some on the black and gray gravel on the sidewalk and streets.
"B**** please!" I said as I bought the bat closer to my body and swung it with all my strength and it made complete contact with the window.
People on the sidewalk were making a commotion and I could hear a few of them taking out their phone and taking snapshots while others were on the phone probably calling the cops.
I walked over to the headlights and I hit the crap out of them, making sure it was hanging out and completely messed up before I moved over to the other windows on the passenger side.
I continued to swing the bat over and over and over again and again as I could feel the adrenaline rush take over my body.
***************
I was able to buy a bottle of cheap wine from the nearby convenience store.
I struggled to pop the bottle and once I did I took the whole bottle and drank it down.
I drop the bottle and walked until I noticed a large crowd of people gather around while a crazy woman with a baseball bat was beating the heck out of a nice...or used to be nice red sports car.
Glass was on the sidewalk and some probably landed inside the car and she continued to knock the heck out of the car and even using her heels to kneel into the front of the car where the exhaust and engine was.
She continued and for some reason I was smiling at her crazy antics.
She huffed and puffed and once she looked up and the smile was wiped out of my lips.
She was really beautiful, with her long brown hair plastered around as her body was encased in sweat from her exertion, her chest was heaving and although she was covered in a black coat it couldn't hide the blue mini dress that she was wearing and the very high heels she was wearing.
She was about to continue again until some guy raced out a restaurant that was on the opposite side of the street.
"YOU CRAZY B****!!!!" a male voice said.
The woman in question looked up and saw the guy and fear crossed her features but she took one last swing of her bat at the car before she finally stopped and backed away from the car and she ran.
She had difficulty but she was able to pass through the crowd and she bumped into me.
"Sorry." She said.
"Kittu!!!!" the voice came closer and she freaked out.
"Sorry but I might need your help!" she said to me and my alcohol slugged brain could barely comprehend.
"What are you going to do this..." she paused and looked at me.
"What's your name?" she said quietly.
"Huh?" I said.
"Your name?" she repeated.
"Oh...its Anand." I said confused.
"Anand is going to beat you're a**!" the girl named Kittu said.
He ran forward and she gripped the front panel of my jacket.
"I should warn you that he has been training in taekwondo." She said.
I turned to her exasperated.
"For how long?" I said shocked.
"Oh...for a good seven to maybe ten years or so...but it's not a big problem as you can totally take him." She said.
"What!!!!"
Before I could say anything he was running towards me and I panicked as I grabbed her hand and turned around as I ran down the sidewalk and we were running down the street while there was a madman racing after us.
She was laughing but amazingly she was able to keep up with her heels.
"Kittu the cops are coming after you're a**!" he yelled.
"Yeah right as if they can find me!" she yelled back.
She wasn't as smug as police sirens could be heard.
I was going to be arrested along with this madwoman and all because I was distracted by her pretty face.
We continued to run and although the guy in questioned stopped running the cops siren was getting closer and closer.
I noticed an alley and there was no way we could outrun the police so I grabbed the crazed woman in question and we pulled her into the alley with me as she dropped the baseball bat.
"Hey!!!" she said while punching me and hitting my chest.
"Rape!!! Rape!!!!" she tried screaming but I muffled her mouth with my hand.
"Can you shut up!" I said staring at her and her bright brown eyes stared back at me.
Whatever buzz I was in before was already gone off after the exhausting run.
"Look I'm not trying to rape you I'm trying to shut you up before..." I trailed off as the sirens became closer and I could feel the flashing lights come closer as I slinked more into the darkness of the alley.
The sirens slowly passed and the lights disappeared.
"Look I don't know what you did but you pulled me into this as well. I'm already having a s***** day and you made me run and lose my bottle of wine." I said still with my hands over her mouth.
She stared at me and I sighed and I released her and she stumbled back and I grabbed her to steady her.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that." I said apologetically.
She straightened up her outfit and her eyeliner was trailing down her cheek due to her mingled sweat.
"It's okay I didn't mean to pull you into this...I didn't think everything through. I'm sorry thanks for your help and..." she fumbled around in her pocket and she pulled out something.
She grabbed my hand and she stuffed something into my hands.
"That is a good twenty bucks. It might not be much but it will cover your bottle of wine." She said.
During the time we were running I would dropped my wine bottle not knowing that some maniac could have either beaten the crap out of me, stabbed me, or even possibly shoot me dead.
In the city, anything was possible and no matter how much the mayor boasted on having a great tackle on the crime rates, it didn't mean it didn't occur every day.
"Forget it." I said putting the money back in her hands.
She looked at me confused.
"But I dragged you into this and you lost..." She tried to stuff the money back in my hand but I stuffed it back into her hands.
"I said F-O-R-G-E-T I-T." I said while saying each letter so she could understand.
"But..."
"No buts...anyway its late its best that you get home especially with an outfit like that...you might attract some other types that might not have good intentions when they actually drag you into an alley." I said.
She blinked at me and she nodded slowly.
"I'm sorry and thank you for your help." She said.
I nodded and she turned and tried to walk forward but she stopped.
She tried again and she stopped.
She laughed awkwardly and she continued to walk until she almost fell down.
I shook my head and I grabbed her hand.
She looked at me shocked.
"Don't move just lean on me...there might be a store somewhere." I said.
She looked at me puzzled.
***************
I stared at the guy at... Anand as he removed my heels and placed the plastic sandals on my feet.
Aside from the burning and soreness and the most obvious reddish discoloration that was slowly spreading on my feet I would say I was feeling in tip top shape.
Of course then again you couldn't be in tip top shape when you are paranoid thinking the cops are lurking a minute away to arrest you for vandalizing your own car...well ex-boyfriend's car but whatever...I'm not all aware about this whole politics game and that is why I never became a lawyer or a politician.
"You don't have to..." I trailed on.
He looked up at me.
"I have been involved more so than I wanted to so I might as well." He said while sighing.
I slackened in guilt.
Mom was right...I was too impulsive, too rash, too much of my head in the clouds and not enough into deciding in what to do with my life.
Especially after my careless move to drop out of medical school almost two months ago to open up my own bakery...
Especially since I never told mom and dad about it and they were still sending me letters encouraging in being the best and doing my best...
I sighed even more.
I wish I could bang my head on something but if I did I might freak out Anand even more especially since everything I put him through.
I sighed even more.
He finished with my shoes and handed it to me and I took them from him and smiled.
"I'm going to hail a cab for you to go home. Be careful." He said.
"No!" I said.
The words out of my mouth before I naturally thought it through.
He looked at me confused.
"I mean no not know. I owe you a bottle of wine." I said.
"Its okay just forget it." He said.
"Nope. I owe you for what you did and I have to pay you back." I said.
"I told you to forget it." He said irritated.
"It won't take much or long there is a convience store right there and I could but you a bottle. Plus its Valentine's Day its no fun drinking alone." I said.
"But..." he said.
"No buts!" I said while running off.
***************
I had my bottle of wine on the tip of my lips as I stared at the girl.
She shook off her jacket and her slippers and she was dancing in her dress that was slowly riding up as she kept jumping and singing.
I looked at the empty cans of beer next to me on the bench...almost six or seven was scattered on the grass and it could explain about her behavior especially since she was drunk.
There was a loud scream and I turned to her and she was singing to another song...
I just stared at her as she shimmied, shake, and flailing to the song and beat that was obviously guiding her inside her head.
She was running around and she suddenly switched gears to another song and this time she looked at me.
She lifted her hand and pointed at me and she came closer and before I could say anything she plopped herself on my lap and began singing again.
She wrapped her hands around my neck and smiled and continued to sing.
She stopped and looked at me and smiled even more and continued where she left off.
She was laughing and she tried to lean down to get another can a beer but I stopped her and shook my head.
She pouted.
"Pwease...pweaty pwease..." She said in a slurred drunken stupor.
She smacked her lips and tried to kiss me and I turned the other cheek and her lips landed smacked on my cheek.
She drew back.
"Hey..." She said.
I sighed and handed her the can and she smiled and she geared up for another song again well I thought it was another song but instead it was.
"I lwove Anand! Lwove...Lwove...Lwove Lwove Hwappy Balentine's Dway..." She said while holding the can of beer close to her face." She said while giving me a thumbs up.
She stopped and then suddenly I felt her hiccup.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
She lurched her head forward and I knew it wasn't any hiccups she was suffering through.
"Wait...wait..." I tried to say.
But she wasn't listening as her body lurched forward and nothing but warm vomit slouched itself forward onto my dress shirt and pants.
***************
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
I looked down and saw both Tara and Mira staring back at me with both of their dark chocolate brown eyes confused at my sudden hesistation.
Tara slowly crawled on all fours and she plopped herself on my lap and Mira slowly made her way there as well.
"Mommy you were going to tell us how you and daddy met." Tara said looking up.
Mira nodded and she plopped her thumb into her mouth as she leaned her soft curls on my lap and I lifted my hand to glide through them and her eyes were slowly closing.
How do I tell them the truth without it sounding like a lie?
I couldn't tell them I met your father in an act of vandalism and ended up in a drunken stupor and waking up noticing that I vomited all over him.
I sighed until I heard crying noises and looked up to a frazzled Anand who had baby powder all over him.
I raised my eyebrow.
He blushed.
"I was trying to change his diaper but it seems more of the baby powder ended on me than on him." Anand laughed awkwardly.
I smiled at my nice save.
"No problem at all as the girls wanted to know how we first met eight years ago." I said while gently pulling Tara and Mira away from me as I got up off the bed.
"Huh...eight years ago..." he said while I was pulling the fussy Ajay closer to me and calmly trying to stop his crying.
"Oooh daddy didn't do a good job with your diaper huh? Was it that bad huh?" I said while patting his back and moving my body back and forth, slowly bouncing as I patted his back.
A large tear crept out of his light brown eyes and used my finger to wipe it away and I kissed his forehead.
"Don't cry it's okay..." I said repeatedly until the cries slowly died down and Ajay was staring at me.
I smiled at him and kissed his head and a small cry broke out and I looked down and noticed that it was a cry of excitement.
I smiled even more and kissed his forehead.
"Hey..." Anand said but I ignored him.
"Are you hungry as well...poor baby...mommy will fix your diaper and feed you... I said while slowly leaving the room.
"Wait Kittu..." Anand said.
I looked back at a confused and stressed Anand while the twins were pulling on his arm to tell him the story.
"Make sure daddy doesn't leave out a single detail." I said while looking at Anand who looked at me in aghast.
I smiled and carried Ajay back to his room so I could breastfeed him and change his diaper.
