Jai Ho First Day Box Office Collections: Early Estimate

Jai Ho has collected around Rs 17-18 crore at the domestic box office, as per estimates based on collections from a few centres. The film has done well at single-screens, but the response at multiplexes is quite similar to Akshay Kumar's Boss.

While evening and night shows did witness decent growth in business, the footfalls (number of people who watched the film) at multiplexes was less than 50% of Ek Tha Tiger and even lower than films like Dabangg 2.

Extreme cold in North India also seems to have affected the film, as the occupancy in circuits like East Punjab, Delhi / UP was the lowest for a Salman Khan starrer since Veer.

When the final collections come in, the first day collections of Jai Ho could be around the same level as Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, which sold fewer tickets but collected about the same due to the fantastic response that it got at multiplexes.

The opening day business is way below trade expectations, so the film has pick up tomorrow and on Sunday for it to have any chance of recovering its high costs. The producers of the film have already made huge profits, but if the film doesn't pick up, the distributors might end up in the red.

On the bright side, the reports from theatres is good, probably the best for a Salman Khan film since Dabangg (2010).
