Here is what happened today,

Okay, Stupid thulasi, informs sarasu about the good news(Arivuketta M…..), that pooja wants to marry shanmugam. Saras is her mean selfish self again and says that she is very happy to hear this, but pretends to be afraid of going and asking for pooja's hand to her parents (thulasi irrukka baYam yEn sarasu). Surprise surprise thulasi comes to her rescue again and says that don't worry athai, I will do your dirty work, & go and explain to chithi and I'm sure chithi will listen to me (seriously im thinking shanmugam deserves pooja, at least she knows what is good for her), now it is pooja's turn to play thulasi, so she states that we can even convince my parents, but who will convince shanmugam mama(aDa, irrukave irruka namma thulasi). Thulasi jumps in and promises to convince shanmugam (actually shamugam intha torturele irundhu engalai kappathupa).

Next, we see sivagamy pOlambufying about why this silly vidya should have taken those tablets to destroy her ownbaby (ippa puriyuthu why this thulasi is so dumb), she is surrounded by the rest of the vEgulis. NK comes in with his usual crying act, and asking what happened, he gets briefed about vidya, then NK & sivagamy leave to go to the hospital. In the meantime karpagam calls moorthy & informs him of vidya's condition, who in turn informs the other brothers. Now let us get ready for the next headache

Okay, now we are in the hospital, a very anxious moorthy, siva & bhaskar arrive at the same time in the hospital. Bhaskar asks moorthy why vidya did such a stupid thing ( isn't that your kudumba sOthu). Moorthy says that vidya would not have ever done such an act, he thinks her family members would have forced her to do so. Anyway the trio go to the ICU, where they meet ramesh & co. The angry brothers question ramesh about vidya's condition, but his athai's family talk in between , one leads to another, and it is not a very pleasant scene in the hospital. Ramesh requests the brothers to be quiet, but it does not work, so finally he asks them to leave, & tells them that he will only speak to his mamanar & elaborate on vidya's condition, so the brothers are forced to wait outside. All this happens, but sharadha does not utter a word.

Now, our thalaivar NK arrives. They reach the ICU and athai taunts sivagamy by saying see what your daughter has done.(Aiyoo, I hope this sivagamy does not spill the beans about ashok & vidya, & ruin vidya's life, just like how they ruined kadhir's girl friends life). Sivagamy says, please don't speak so heartlessly lady; my daughter is a very soft natured girl, and there is no way she will attempt to get rid of her baby. Actually in the previous scene in the heat of the moment, bhaskar tells that athai, that they don't buy their story that vidya took tablet to get rid of her baby, because vidya knows what her elder sister is going through, for not being able to conceive. Anyway coming back to the hospital, ramesh's athai and mama talk nonsense, the 3 brothers retort, finally sharadha breaks her silence and says that sheagrees that she has had an aversion towards vidya but now she is hoping and praying that her husband should come into the house in the form of this baby. Athai, mama & dharashini are a little confused & scared. Suddenly NK & sivagamy chase their boys away for creating a nuisance in the hospital, & they apologize to sharadha, who seems to be quiet calm. NK asks when he can see vidya. Ramesh says that he believes that vidya would not have done such a thing and elaborates what happened the previous day, & ends up saying that he is also waiting to see vidya.

Finally viduthalai, yes the doctor comes out and tells the gang that vidya is still not fully conscious, & since the visitors timings has just ended they will have to wait till the next day to see her. But she is kind enough to let a person stay back. Dharsini's mom offers to stay back with her daughter and asks sharadha to send nk & co away , but sharadha says that vidya's parents should stay, and she also orders ramesh to stay behind, & goes home with the evil gang (sharadha I hope they don't give you a tablet to go up quickly, now that they feel that your mood is changing). Screen freezes with a very sad sivagamy's face.

Update for Monday, Sept. 11th 2006

Scene I
NK's House

The three brothers arrive in an auto (Murthy's character has been replaced by a new actor (same voice though)). They enter the home, and Revathy, Murthy's wife and Revathy's father ask about Vidya. Murthy tells them that Vidya hadn't regained consciousness when they left, but NK and Sivagami stayed back and would phone with updates. Brothers had not eaten dinner, so they are asked to come and eat. Just as they are about to start eating, Siva gets a phone call from Amala. He tells everyone it's a friend calling, and that since the friend is calling so late, it must be important. He gets up to attend the call. He tells Amla Vidya has been hospitalized and he had to suddenly come to Nachiarpuram. Amala asks what happened to her "nathanaar?" Siva tells her it was nothing serious...only stomach pain. He tries to cut the call, but Amala insists that he should talk to her until SHE decides to hang up. Creep agrees. Meanwhile, Murthy and Bhaskar finish their dinner and wonder where Siva is. Murthy tells Revathy to ask Siva to finish the call and eat. Revathy goes to find Siva. She asks him to come and have his dinner as it is getting late. He more or less tells her to get lost and that he will be there. He moves to another room to continue talking. Amala asks him for a kiss over the phone. He's about to oblige when Revathy walks back into the room. He again yells at her to go away and moves to yet another room. He's in the doorway and Revathy's father is washing his hands. Siva gives Amala a kiss over the phone and walks past Revathy's father, who has heard the kiss. Father looks back through the doorway and sees Revathy walking away. He assumes the kiss was for Revathy and is thrilled that his daughter really is happy.

Siva FINALLY finishes the call, and comes back to the kitchen where Revathy has fallen asleep waiting for him. He wakes her up and yells at her to go sleep in the room. She tells him that he didn't eat properly, and that she had not eaten yet either. Creep yells at her some more about how she and her father tricked him and ruined all his dreams of marriage, etc. Revathy begs him to at least pretend he is happy until the baby is born because the health of the child is dependent on the happiness of it's mother. He asks her if it's only the mother that needs to be happy...doesn't the father need to be happy as well? He yells some more and leaves the room. Revathy has flashbacks to when Creep was so nice to her after learning of the pregnancy. She is in tears.

Scene II
Kavitha's Hospital

Kavitha's family, Kadhir and Kadhir's mama are waiting outside the room. Doctor comes out and says that Kavitha is conscious. Kavitha's family makes a move to go see her, but doctor tells them that Kavitha is asking for Kadhir first. Maapillai #1 is outraged and tried to prevent Kadhir from going in first, but doctor insists. Kadhir enters the doorway to the room and has flashbacks of the first time he saw Kavitha's photo, their first meeting, etc. He has a sense of dread as he approaches the bed. Kavitha's face is badly burned. kadhir doesn't flinch...what a hero! He tells Kavitha that he should never have seen and fallen in love with her. He says that since childhood, he has never known true paasam. All that changed when he met her, and look what has happened. Kavitha says she will never stop loving him. He tells her to be strong and that no matter what the cost, he will get her treatment and bring her back to her old self. Doctor approaches and says that Kavitha's life is no longer in danger, but for the burn treatment, America or Europe would be the best places to go. Kadhir assures him that he would go to the ends of the earth for his Kavitha. Doctor says that their love would withstand it all. Kadhir leaves the room.

Outside, Kavitha's family is prepared to go see Kavitha, but AC shows up and tells the doctor they need to ask Kavitha some questions first. Doctors take the police inside and ask Kavitha's family to wait. Kavitha's mom approaches Kadhir and asks if Kavitha's life is in danger. Kadhir shakes his head, but doesn't say anything. Mom laments over the fact that she is responsible for all of this and cries. Mama and Kadhir try to reassure her, but Maapillai #1 comes and drags her away, telling her not to talk to "kanda kanda vaaL." Mom cries into Puppy's shoulder.

Update for Wed Sept 13-2006 –Vidya's cookie starts to crumble!

Part-1

Muneer (is it the right name?) grudgingly goes to the hospital to see Vidya as per sharada's talk and sundari now talks to a crying darshini.

Darshini is very angry and says you and father promised to get me married to ramesh and even after vidya came here, you kept giving me hope. Now because she is carrying the child, if she is continue here, what is my fate? Now she tells Sundari firmly that even if her parents go away to mumbai, she will continue to be in this house and she will realize her aim of getting Ramesh.

Tulasi comes to the union office and tells Shan about Vidya and the need for them to go to hospital. Shan is reluctant to leave the union work but is persuaded by his colleagues to go with his wife.

Part-2

Vidya awakes in hospital and now sivagami asks her why she took the medicine for abortion. She says even Sharada was extremely upset at what Vidya has done.Vidya looks puzzled and says she knows now only that she is pregnant and why she should take the medicine for terminating the pregnancy.

She now recounts the happenings of the previous day and says after she fell unconscious, sundari/darshini only took care and brought in the doctor and gave her medicines. In fact, she remembers that Darshini who always regarding her as a competitor took more care and gave her medicines. She she says there is something fishy because they took more care and there is a connection between them and those medicines that I took.

Sivagami gets angry and wants to immediately to expose this matter to Sharada about the deeds of Sundari/gang but Vidya foolishly says let us leave this issue—now my MIL is regarding me a little better after this, now I don't want to put her in a difficult position by exposing about Sundari. She tells her mother not to tell anyone.

Now NK comes in with Ramesh and leaving Ramesh inside, NK and his wife come out of the room and when they are waiting outside, they hear some nurses talking about kavitha's case and tells Kadhir being arrested. NK on hearing kadhir's name, gets panicky and finds that they are in the same hospital. Now both of them go the ICU to see kavitha.

Part-3

Kavitha's mother tells prabha that she will go home an asks to take care. A nurse comes out and asks prabha to buy some medicines. So prabha also leaves leaving kadhir/mama in the ward.

NK and sivagami come in and seeing them, Kadhir turns his face and sits separately leaving the talking to gnanavel.NK asks innocently what happened and Gnanavel asks whether with what face you have come here after doing what ever harm that you have done.Sivagami tries to support her husband but G says I told you about everything about NK but still you don't want to ask him about that. S says she already told NK about that and he is not to blame and wants to talk further but NK shuts her up. Now G tells about NK telling Kavitha's family about kavitha going to Kadhir's house and that is why all the problems started escalating in Kavitha attempting suicide. Nk pleads innocence and G asks him that if you really wanted to help out, why did you keep mum when question was asked about parentage of Kadhir.Even now you are not ready to accept this matter, he challenges NK.

Now comes the interesting part. Muneer is showing coming to the ICU and seeing the shouting going on, he stops to listen. G further tells NK that if you had a daughter suffering this fate how you will react? The bombshell comes in now and he says your daughter ran away from the house and despite that she is living happily in a rich house and how come you did all this to push Kavitha into this suffering? NK gets furious and goes at G and grabs him and Sivagami separates them. NK pleads with Kadhir and G to listen to what he is saying and further says he is totally innocent but G says he is not prepared to believe him and pushes him to the floor. They then walk away sadly.

Kadhir speaks not a word during all the confrontation.

Munner is listening keenly and wonders what is the exact enemity between kadhir and NK and also which daughter ran away from the house? It can't be tulasi since her in laws house is not affluent and so it must be this Vidya only.

Now he vows to Vidya in his mind gleefully that "ezharai chani" has started for you now.

Scene I
Vidhya/Ramesh's House

Continuation of interrogation of Vidhya by the evil trio. Ramesh's eyebrows are in a permanent angry knot. Vidhya looks dumb and dumber. Trio is demanding whom Gnyanavel was referring to as "odi pona poNNu." Vidhya is about to reach her breaking point when Thulasi and Shan enter the home. Thulasi asks how Vidhya is doing, and is attacked by Darshini's father. He tells Thulasi about Gnyanavel's remarks and asks for details. Thulasi says...I'll tell you. Shan tries to stop her. Thulasi continues that "odi pona poNNu" is none other than herself. Darshini's father doesn't believe it for a moment and accuses Thulasi of covering up for the sister. Ramesh is also not convinced. Ramesh's mother finally interferes and tells Darshini's father that it must be Thulasi, since everyone knows she ran away. He tries to counter, but is silenced by his wife. MIL asks Vidhya to take Thulasi upstairs. Evil trio exit to their room. Ramesh sits on the couch and ignores Shan completely. After a few moments of awkwardness, Shan makes an excuse and takes leave. He goes upstairs to inform Thulasi and Vidhya that he is going out and will be back in 30 mins. Vidhya asks why he won't speak to her properly...he hems and haws, but leaves. Thulasi advises Vidhya to be careful and to not start any new problems..and under no circumstances should she tell anyone about the running away incident. Meanwhile evil trio is upset about the foiled attempt to discredit Vidhya and tries to figure out what to do next.

Scene II
Kavitha's House

Maaps 1 and Puppy enter and ask where Pupp's mom is. They're told by the maid that she is in the poojai room, crying non-stop. The two head over there. Mom is deep in prayer, eyes closed, crying, etc...but that doesn't stop the two of them from yapping about how they realize she was upset in the hospital and shouldn't have left so abruptly, blah blah. Maaps adds that he knows she gave too much importance to Kadhir because she was so distraught. MIL FINALLY opens her eyes and walks away from them. Maaps says he has consulted several doctors and they can treat Kavitha right there in Chennai...no need to go abroad. And if they do need to go abroad, they have the resources to take her themselves. No need to send Kavitha with Kadhir. MIL says that Kavitha will be going with Kadhir. Maaps and Puppy are flabbergasted. MIL further refers to Kadhir as "Kadhir Mappilai," and Maaps 1 gets angry and leaves (dragging Puppy with him).


Scene III
Nachiarpuram

Bhaskar enters the kitchen...Revathy tells him that Murthy hasn't eaten at all. Bhaskar says that he won't interfere in a husband/wife matter and walks away. revathy follows and says that as a joint family, everyone should help eachother. Bhaskar says that while Murthy's kicking Karpagam out was a bit over the edge, he was justified in being angry. Some more back and forth boring dialogue...Bhaskar says that she is better than the other 2 DILs because she married into the same house she grew up in...so she doesn't differentiate like Karpagam and Mallika.

Outside the house comes Karpagam's father, screaming and dragging Karpagam. He yells out for Murthy. murthy, Bhaskar and Ravathy all go outside, and we are subjected to more screaming all around (sidebar....I HATE THIS SCREAMING (and that's me SCREAMING)). Karpagam's father lets out the secret that the bangles cannot be returned until Kadhir gets back home, since they are in his possession. This futher angers Murthy, who badmouths Kadhir. karpagam's father defends Kadhir and says that NK is responsible for the whole Kavitha episode...he told Kavitha's family Kavitha was visiting Kadhir, and they called tyhe police, etc. Murthy is taken aback. Murthy does not relent and says that Karpagam cannot enter the house until she has the bangles in hand. Karpagam's father loses his temper and asks for his granddaughter too. Murthy drags her out and shoves her towards Karpagam and father (another sidebar...they really manhandle the children in this serial...poor thing). Karpagam's fatehr says that until murthy comes and begs them to return, Karpagam and granddaughter would not come home.


Malarum

Tuesday's update

Tulasi and Shanmugam leave Vidya's house. Vidya's M in law tells Ramesh to drop them at the bus stop. Ramesh looks as if he has swollowed a bee. Mumbles that the car is gone for service, and tells bro to get auto.

Tulasi asks Shamugam why he was so aloof and he tells her that Ramesh has mistaken his relashionship with Vidya 😡 Intha Ramesh is a totally confused and arivuketta 🤬 😉

Anyway back home Shamugam's mom is ranting and raving in her sandpaper voice 😉 'bout Tulasi getting late for sambantham pesufying in the moraiponnu's house. Moraiponnu's mom wants her daughter to come home and our Tulasi Kenai says she will take her home F in law smells something fishy and tells Tulasi " ippathan nimathiya irukom vera prachanai ethuvum pannathae" (Smart old man). Tulasi gives and angelic look and m in law give a demonic look and they say nothing will happen. ( Linga nee yengepa irukke?? 😈 come soon and intha Tulasi ponna isthukinnu po 😉 , appavaavuthu budhi varathanu parkanum) 😛

Nattu's House: Nattu and wife come and find out about the fight between Murthy and his F- in law. Nattu changes all shades of purple with rage and distress
😡 😡 😡 and orders his son to bring them back home. And lo and behold his son disobeys him 😲 Nattu Koundar is shocked and starts rambling ( honestly guys at this time I thought Nats is going to have a heart attack . Anyways both sons go to bring the Anni back.

Just a brief update for today"

Thank god it is not Saras & Thulasi episode, apPAdi, indha vArum naan pizhachuten!!

Scene 1 - NK & Sons

NK is disappointed with moorthy & bhaskar for returning home without karpagam & meenakshi. Moorthy is very angry with his FIL & says that his FIL is very unreasonable, that he has gone to the extent of saying that only if NK and sivagamy go and ask for karpagams' hand, they will send karpagam back home. NK once again unleashes his words of wisdom & convinces his sons and decides to go and get karpagam & Mennu home the next morning.

Scene 2 – Hospital kadhir, kavi, & co

The doctor who checks kavitha, lets kadhir & nyanavel know that kavitha is healing very well, & by the next week she should be discharged from the hospital. He asks kadhir if he has found a good doctor in the states. Kadhir tells him that he is still looking around, asking his friends in the states, but should know something by the following week, so he can take kavi accompanied by her mom to the states for further treatment. The doc turns around and tells kavi that she is really very lucky to find a person like kadhir. The doctor also tells kadhir that he will give a list of good plastic surgeons in the US, so kadhir can contact them. As kadhir is leaving he bumps into his to be MIL and prabha, who hands over kavi & her moms passport for visa purposes. Kavis' mom gets emotional when she sees kavi, but she is glad kavi found such a good mapillai.

Scene 3 – Karpagam's family Vs NK family

NK & sivagamy go visit karpagam's family. AS expected her dad is very rude and has some choice insulting statements to hurt NK's feelings. Karpagam's amma is standing helplessly, and she tells sivagamy that karpagam and meenakshi have gone to the store. K's dad says that even if they return from the store they are not going to go back with NK to nachiyarpuram. NK after endless justifications feels very helpless, & hence resorts back to his long lost forgotten act of total surrender & falls at K's dads feet begging K's dad to send Karpagam with them. Karpagam enters at that precise moment saying that her mama should only fall at the feet of the God and no one else. Sivagamy asks karapgam why she left the house, K says that she had no other choice, her dad interrupts and says that she should not utter another word, and asks her to go inside, K goes and locks herself up, K's dad has a victory smile, NK & sivagamy are down and they turn to go home, Karpagam opens the door comes out and says where are you guys leaving without me, let me also come, I had gone inside just to change my clothes, her dad gets wild, she tells him that she only belongs with NK's family and asks her dad to return the money so she can get her valavi back. (very well enacted last scene by karpagam)

Update for Monday, Sept. 25th 2006

In brief...

Scene I
Shan's Mama is waiting outside Shan's house (he had called to talk to
Shan and Shan's father but would not go inside). He blasts Shan and
father for daring to ask for his daughter to be a 2nd wife. Shan and
father are dumbfounded. They ask for details and Mama tells them how
Thulasi had come and made the request. His daughter was only 19
years old, and how could they even think for a moment that a marriage
was possible? He accuses Thulasi and Shan's mom of poisoning his
daughter's mind and putting the marriage idea in her head. He tells
them that any relationship between the two families is severed for
good and leaves.

Shan and father go back inside and Shan screams at Thulasi, hitting
her for good measure (Oh, where would Malargal be without the daily
dose of screaming and violence.... good grief). Thulasi gives Shan an
ultimatum... ether he divorce her and let her go back to Nachiarpuram,
or agree to a 2nd marriage. Shan's about to beat her senseless again
when his father intervenes and tells him he HAS to make a decision
for the mental peace of the family. Shan tells Thulasi that they
will make one last attempt to visit a famous doc the next day, and if
the news is good, this will be the end of this 2nd marriage
business. Thulasi asks him what happens if the news is bad, and he
tells her that she can then do whatever she wants.

Scene II
Nachiarpuram

Creep Siva gets a phone call from a whining Amala, who pretends to
have been in an accident. Siva is all flustered and asks whether she
had gone to the hospital, told her father, etc. Amala flares up and
yells at him that rather than saying he would come immediately, he is
asking her all these questions. Creep promises to come to Chennai
soon. As he's leaving the room,Revathy opens the door and he gets
hit on the head. Sadly, he doesn't kick the bucket. The whole
family gathers around his bloody head and finds out it was an
accident (Bhaskar had yelled that Revathy hit Creep on purpose). As
they are talking, Vidhya comes to the home, accompanied by Ganesh.
Some lighthearted banter, blah blah. Ganesh leaves back to Chennai.

Scene III
Truck Office

A black SUV pulls up and out steps Linga, Linga, Linga Linga Linga!
In the background some rap music plays. Linga goes into the office
with his aDiyaaLs and asks the manager about driver Mani. He tells
mgr. he needs to see Mani right away. On cue, a truck arrives, and
out steps Mani. He looks around at the rowdies, wondering what's
going on, and sees Linga...

Malarum

Tues episode:

Linga uses his force to get information from the driver. Jeez!! Mani is tied and fried like a Khabab!!! 😉 (reminded me of those roasters for roasting chicken!! . Anyways, the evil soul is successful in getting the info on Shan and Tulasi. (Of course not the full adress, but some trucking company where Shan worked). Of course Linga will eventually find out about the whereabouts of Tulasi 😳 ( I am gleefully waiting for the day Tulasi will come face to face with our evil old Linga!!!!! 😈 😈 . Andha Ponnu romba Paduthu!

Next we see Shan and Thulasi in the Hospital doing the rounds for checkups. The doctor is known for her Kairasi! 😊 She says encouraging words and gets a whole set tests don on Tulasi. The rest of the time is pretty much going from room to room getting the tests done. To ward of the monotony the director brings up a little baby. A lady who comes for her checkups asks Shan and Tuls to watch her baby for a little while, we see a whole lot of emotions from Shan and Tuls!!!! 😊
Shan says that it is good sign and the results will be positive 😊 Our stupid Tuls says if it is negative then Shan should agree for the 2nd marriage!!! 😡 ( That female has a one track mind 😡 Suthi valaichu she comes back to the same topic!!!)> Here our Shan says lets think positive and all Tuls has is negative thoughts.! Everyone in the hospital including the nurse who takes them for the test has positive thoughts, but Tuls is like a keeral vizuntha record!!!!. Sometimes makes me wonder if she wants to get rid of Shan 😆 .

Once the tests are over, they decide to go to Nachiyarpuram to meet the parents! Shan tell Tuls not to tell anyone about the hospital visit as they heve enough problems of their own. So the scene freezes on an anxious Tuls face, as she has to wait for the results 😔
