NK household:
the male clan is being served dinner in vaazhai elai..(how hygenic and nice to look at - not the serving part but the elai part)..and Moorthy calls for Vidya to come eat; catches himself and says I forgot she has gone to her inlaws place; this brings forth a torrential downpour, courtesy Sivagamy's eyes. She wonders what happened to poor vidya at her place; is she being treated nicely? can we at least call? Moorthy says Vidya is a very bold girl and she will tackle everything. He also asks his mom to be patient; but she continues...(sulakshana has not lost the same whining pitch she used in sindhu bhairavi when she shed buckets over her husband's digression) her polambals; the attentive and dutiful DILs are on standby. She asks Moorthy to go to Vidya's house the next day after work to see how she fares but he says, as such they aren't treated nicely and now they may think that Moorthy has come to spy on them, especially that mama and athai. so, better let some time go by before they call; NK comes there, seconds that and washes his elai;
He asks Revathy for Siva and she goes to bring him. He hears her 'mama', startles and then follows her; says he has already eaten; NK asks when he plans to take Revathy to chennai with him; Siva says house rents are atrocious and also it is not safe for her there; NK says nothing doing, he himself will personally come and make arrangements for their living abode; Siva panics and tells him he will make arrangements soon. Revathy is grinning madly behind his back...NK warns Siva to treat Revathy nicely.
for once, Sivagamy doesn't offer her cryptic remarks.
the next morning; Vidya comes to her room (sidebar - thalaila thundu), wakes Ramesh up and some silmisham betw the two; she then asks what he likes for her to cook; he says they will not allow her to cook and she better take care of him alone; she says she will face others and comes downstairs; she calls gundu 'chithi' who warns her to refrain from calling her that; mom and daughter villis say that only Sharadha decides what is to be cooked; mom villi asks if Vidya knows to cook at all; Vidya says yes, i can pramaadhamaa. Daughter villi asks her to go ask Sharada directly since nothing gets done without her say-so..thinking Vidya will back off. But Vidya calls their bluff and says she will ask Sharada and tries to go inside Sharada's room. Sharada stops her and tells her it is enough that she came here as Ramesh's wife; also has she not done enough already during her kalayanam with providing saappadu to finish her husband off; now she has to cook to take Sharada's life too; she better be Ramesh's wife alone and take care of him and not do any of the household duties; Vidya is all tears and comes outside and villi combo taunt her saying this is her nelamai from now on. The dad also joins in and tells her just like raja and paNipeNN, she is just Ramesh's andhapura vElaikkari..Vidya goes upstairs in tears.(hey, as long as they feed her, she shd be fine with it. imagine, getting food without lifting a finger in in-laws house)
Mallika is busy packing this and that and Basker is hurrying her; the evil mom with her grandson in her hip sees this and remarks that here poor Mallika is taking some raisins or such for her FIL just because her own dad likes it; maybe it will be too much to digest for FIL dear. Basker also sees Mallika packing a lot of stuff and she says she bought all for all family members. Basker then asks her to go get their son. NOw the mom-villi says she cannot give the son; he will be unnecessarily troubled if he is alakazhichufied betw Nachiarpuram and here and what, all for just a day's trip? so, she will take care of him here; also, that place is in the boondocks with dust and allergens..Basker's face changes and Mallika seeing that, comes near her mom and tells her she is creating trouble now; Mom says only she has great paasam for her daughter's kid and those folks will not have as much for their son's kid; this highly angers Basker who shouts at his MIL to hold her tongue, else things will get worse. Mallika also takes her son and says he was brought up so long in Nachiarpuram only and so this will not affect him; also he is their grandson too as he is to them and they will surely want to see him, especially Meena. The mom gives the kid, rushes over and says in each household the problems pertain to MIL-DIL but here it is betw MIL-SIL...she labolabOs, calling out for her husband to see to this great injustice done to her, her SIL badmouthing her; when mallika stops her and says enough is enough. Basker also tells MIL that he is not staying her out of kaiyaalaagaathanam but out of respect of his 'enga veetu aaLuga' sonnadhunaala irukkEn..and he will go away from this house. M hushhushes her mom and says, just now I have somewhat pacified him to live with us and u are spoiling it by overdoing it; stuff it; and takes the kid and walks off; Mom asks if she has bus money and Mallika says, yes, she got it that morning from dad. (where are the good men and women when their counterparts say/do these bad things? - probably watching like shammugam's dad, saying, ennavO paNNu')
Kadhir is dressing up for ponnu paarthufying, romantic interludes in the background; Mama goes outside, calls one of his field workers and then tells him to go home and bring his wife and mom to go along with them to see the girl; that man is stumped saying he is, aferall the field hand; mama says he has only kadhir's best intentions at heart; and that is what matters; and also they need a couple of women to go along with them; worker leaves to bring them; mama sees kadhir behind him; kadhir comments that their situation is so pitiful that they are gumbal sErthufying for ponnu paarthal padalam. probably, only for such things, u need a lot of relatives and we dont even have any; ennai thathu eduthavangaLum illai, en pethavaLum illai, en petha appaavO, doesn't accept me; and mama says, dont feel like that; this worker has been ur loyal employee for a long time and has your best interests at heart.
Paavadaisaamy, sorry Pandidurai en route his motorbike (imbibed state) is stopped by his aLLakkai (this guy was the only one witnessing vidya's going-to-her inlaws scenes at night) who tells him all his efforts are in vain; Vidya's inlaws came and took her home; she is going to live happily everafter. PD recalls his brother begging him not to spoil Vidya's life and to let her live in peace; PD swears that that cannot happen; he will go immediately to her in-laws place, recite all abt ashok-vidya and make sure all of them shun her for good; so saying, he speeds up and as expected in a turn, crashes into a truck - hit and run;
he lies on the road, bleeding. (now his saavithri will plead with yaman to bring back this (a)satyavan to life; and stay thru' a vaai-kai-kaal kONiya husband to nurse him back to health. maybe her costume will change to a nursing outfit; leave way, next comes Florence Nightingale.
