Hola I-Fians,

Old is gold? Yaan old is purana? New is rocking? Yaan new is boring? Old Vs New is a debate everywhere. In this week's Music N' Masti Show we were told that the King Khan Srk and the beautiful and sensous Priyanka Chopra will be starring in a remake of the classic Don. The same latkas and jhatkas will be re-picturized as these two dance away to Khaike Paan Banaras Wala.

We live in a society of remaking don't we? But do remakes ever make the impact that the orginal work did? How about remixed songs? In Retro Cafe we get a taste of both the evergreen classics and also the mirch masale wale remixes. But what do you prefer? Is it true that somethings will stay evergreen forever and never be matched? Or is this the world of moving on and creating new and better things daily? What's your opinion? Do you side with the old or the new?

So do the oldies or newsters win on India-Forums? Lets start the debate and discussion. Zamana hai purano ka yaan naye dudes ka? Pssstt impress our RJs kya pata they may love your comments and read them on the next show. So are you ready to defend your side?

oo this topic is really nice. 😊
I personally think that we need to fuse old and new togehter to get a 100% of anything. When new ideas are created, old ideas help and test them out. If one thing didnt work in the past, the new one could be modified and made better. Instead of thinking that one time or generation is better than the next, we should learn to compormise and combine ideas and experience. This would help us all move forward in which ever subject we choose.

I am the Defense Debator for the New Generation:

I think that it varied from songs to songs. Certain songs sound good remixed and certain sound good the oriinal way it was composed. Putting all differences aside, I still think that many old songs are more popular today due to the remixes than it was ever durin the time it was composed.

Hmm.. Great topic Dolly.. I personal perfer Both. Some old movies have left their mark such as Sholay and others, and if they are re-maked , it ruins the entire concept of it. I aml lookiing forward to Don because of Shahrukh but personally I prefer the orginal better. Same goes with songs. Some Songs are better of not being remixed, as it ruins the beauty of it and some songs are popular as old but become more popular when they are remixed. Such examples are Bin Tere Sanam, Tu Tu Hai Wahi, and others. I think its better to leave the Gold at one place and the sliver in other place because Gold will be always Gold.

i think i agree prakriti and that we should learn to combine the ideas and get the best of both
the old is classic and new is rocking and the combination of this creates a new thing that is really good.

hmmm....I like both but some remixed songs just ruin the original ....you can't even hear the person singing in some of those remixed songs

OLD IS GOLD

I prefer old but we have to get along with the present. Present is always polish way of old rude versions in all aspects.
Practice makes a man perfect. Similarly the new generation learns from old and adds his own thoughts to suit the present.
History repeats and the old comes back in every aspect whether it's food habits, fashions, literature, dialects, songs, tastes.
Nowadays all houses in USA resemble old country side style with new appliances.
Songs are coming up with remix of old songs.
fashions are repeating. When I was teen we use to wear puff blouses and my grand mother use to say they wore them when they were teens. And that fashion is coming up now with youngsters in this generation.
Whatever we create new, discover new it's roots are from Old generation only.
New generation is fast and impatient. Old has weight in quality. So new copies the old in their own version coz they want fast in every where.
