---- Present ----
A smile secretly crept up to his face and his lips curled up. Eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the bright light in the room. Abeer slowly sat in the bed and looked at the window and the curtains. Only if they covered the window with the curtains last night, he would have slept longer. Then his eyes involuntarily landed up on his wife, who was sleeping rather peacefully, as her back was facing the window. At least she is sleeping undisturbed, he thought.
Looking at her was his favourite past time and it still is. Unbelievable. After what they have been through, he is still so much into her. She has this beautiful spell over him and he is happily under it. Her face is the source of his happiness and now she was giving him another reason to be happy - their little bundle of joy. Abeer looked at meher's stomach and thinking that his child was safe within her, probably sleeping right now; gave him immense pleasure.
Abeer leaned towards meher and dropped a soft kiss on her forehead, murmuring good morning, and then placed his hand on her stomach. He touched it lovingly and tried feeling his baby, though he subconsciously knew it was too early for it. Meher opened her eyes to find abeer leaning into her, his hand wrapped around her and his eyes looking somewhere. She followed his gaze to find him looking at her stomach intently, and her body stiffened. Her eyes were again fixed on abeer and the smile adoring his face, and before she could look away - their eyes were locked with each other in an eye lock. His hands were wrapped around her, pulling her close while her was wrapped around his neck and other clutching the fistful of his shirt. Their breaths were fanning on each other's lips and hearts yearning intimacy. Pushing every thought away, forgetting time and other things, they were kissing each other hungrily. A fire burning within, and the magnetic pull between them making it difficult to resist the temptation. They gave into the temptation of having each other, skin to skin.
"Thank you baby..." Abeer whispered pulling meher into his arms, and she laid there tiredly, his warmth comforting her.
Unable to understand the reason for the sudden thank you, meher pulled back a bit and looked at his face questioningly.
"For changing your decision... I'm so happy..." Abeer replied.
Meher was hit by a realisation when those words escaped his mouth.
"I have not abeer..." Meher stated, ready to be pushed back any instance.
"So change it now..." Abeer told meher, with a smile on his face.
Meher pulled herself back from him, holding the sheet tightly around her chest.
"Abeer I'm not ready for a baby... I don't want it..."
"What is wrong with you meher...?? What...???" Abeer asked.
"There is nothing wrong with a woman not wanting a child. Her child. Its just about her priorities and choices..." Meher replied.
"I can't believe it... So you want to abort this baby...?? Our baby...?? Am I right Mrs. Meher Abeer Malhotra...???" He asked her, losing every ounce of patience.
"Yes... And I wasn't planning to tell you about it..." Meher told and got up from the bed.
She entered the washroom and banged the door loudly, giving her husband a silent message that this conversation was over.
Abeer kept staring at the bathroom door in anger and strangely felt a strong hatred towards the woman, he just made love to. That was the irony of their life by now, one step ahead and four steps back. This woman he loves to earth, sometimes transformed into a woman he barely knew. He hates to admit that he is unaware of the reason why she melts with just a single touch of his and then turns cold and distant. Getting dressed he walked out of the room, avoiding another encounter or argument with his dear wife who was now pregnant. Pregnant with their baby. The baby she supposedly wasn't ready for.
"Good Morning guys..." Abeer said as he joined his family at the breakfast table.
"Bad night...??" asked shanaya.
"Nope..." Abeer replied.
"Omg... Who do we have here...???" came a voice.
It was Sasha and she was smirking at abeer. Abeer got up from his chair and went to Sasha who was standing leaning against a pillar.
"Ya ya its me babe... Dhanya bhagya humare Jo aap humare ghar padhare..." Abeer told Sasha hugging her.
"Copy paste abeera... Good to see you buddy..." Sasha replied.
Meher was walking down the stairs, dressed in a formal T-shirt and a skin hugging knee length straight skirt; when she stopped in her track. Abeer and Sasha were hugging each other and then abeer held Sasha's hand dragging her towards the breakfast table. Meher ignored it but when Sasha unintentionally sat in her chair, she felt unwanted and sad. It was her place which was now occupied by Sasha and she felt a pang in her heart.
"Good Morning..." Meher said and sat in the chair opposite Abeer.
Meher looked at Abeer from the corner of her eye and burned with anger, jealousy and disappointment when she saw Abeer and Sasha continuously talking to each other. Her husband instead of looking at her or paying her attention - had eyes for his so called best friend. When Sasha feeded Abeer a slice of apple from her plate, meher choked on her food and coughed. Within seconds, Abeer was beside her offering her a glass of water and rubbing her back trying to soothe her. Meher drank the water and then looked at Abeer who was watching her with care visible on his face. That moment she knew that he will always care for her, no matter how much of a bitch she is to him - sometimes.
"I'm fine... Thanks..." Meher told Abeer.
"Your welcome..."
Meher was thankful to Abeer for he didn't tell anyone about her pregnancy. When she got up to leave for work, abeer stopped her and offered to escort her to the car. Meher knew there was no point in refusing, so smiled and let him walk her to the car.
"Be on time tonight... We have a big surprise for our family... A good news..." Abeer told meher and winked at her.
"Why didn't you break the surprise yourself this morning...??" Meher asked.
"Blame Sasha... If she wouldn't have come, I would have told them... And we would have been congratulated and blessed by our parents by now... But never mind, tonight will be special..."
"Abeer let's think about it once again... I have my reasons... Just listen me out patiently..." Meher requested.
"Meher don't spoil my mood baby... Trust me when I say, this baby will change our lives... We will be proud parents of a healthy baby..." Abeer requested back.
Meher got into the car and drove to her office.
"You seem stressed... Didn't get enough sleep last night...??"
Meher looked and smiled at the concern of her colleague, Monali.
"Kind of..." replied Meher.
"Your husband isn't letting you get enough sleep... How romantic..." Monali said dreamily.
"What...?? Who told you that...??" Meher asked.
"You are married... Young, hot and beautiful..." Monali stated as if it was the most obvious thing ever.
"Yeah that explains..." Meher said shaking her head a bit and started working on her presentation which was due today.
"What's wrong with your wifey huh...??" Sasha asked.
"I don't know yaar Sasha... Working women n their stress I guess..." Abeer answered.
Sasha sat on Abeer's office chair and logged in to her email account while abeer stood near the glass window.
"She didn't seem happy on seeing me... Well when has she ever been..." Sasha said.
"Cmon yaar... Don't be so hard on my poor wifey... She likes you..." Abeer replied.
"Whatever you say buddy..."
It was evening and meher left the office feeling relaxed as she was done with the presentation finally and it was going to be a very important day tomorrow. But as soon as she reached home, she realised she had a big problem to face. Problem... Never did she thought that she will consider her own baby a problem. A baby which she once loved to bits, the baby which she once wanted more than anything and everything - now seemed just a hindrance, a problem in her already stressful life.
Meher ran up to her room and changed into something more casual. By the time she removed her make up, the bedroom door opened. She turned around to face her husband who returned home with tiredness written on his face. She smiled at him and he returned the smile which had equal love and warmth.
"Tiring day...??" She asked taking the briefcase from his hands.
"Hmm... What about yours...??"
"Tiring and stressful... But now I'm relaxed... Just a bit excited for tomorrow... I hope they like my idea..." Meher said with her eyes shining brightly.
Abeer looked into her eyes and smiled when he saw the passion meher had for her work. Only abeer knew how he grew loving what she loved. Yes he just wanted to be the only thing she ever loved but with time he learned that what he wanted was just a silly impractical thing. One cannot just live living another person... One has to love other things too... She loved her job and he tried loving her love for her job. Things have changed in the past few years...
"Where are you lost...?? I have been speaking for last five minutes abeer..." Meher said lightly shaking abeer.
"Was just thinking..." Abeer replied.
"Hmm... Abeer let's go out tonight... Only you and me..." Meher suggested.
"Tomorrow for sure... Tonight we are staying home..." Abeer winked at meher and grinned.
"Fine..."
"Meher I was serious when I said its time we tell mom dad..." Abeer said.
Meher took a deep breathe and let his words sink in.
"Abeer I have an offer... You know something like give and take..." Meher said wrapping her arms around Abeer's neck.
"A negotiation huh...?? A businesswoman is finally talking..." remarked Abeer.
"Yep..."
"So what is it...??"
